Three problems related to battery dead have been reported for the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The gauge cluster is always drawing power. Battery goes dead if I do not drive the vehical for one day.
I have a 2003 Silverado and the battery failed.
Lights for instrument panel occasionally does not work. Battery died. Radio made loud humming noise even when car shut off overnight. Air conditioner broke. But the continual problem is the 4wd becomes inoperable and service 4wd message appears. Gm has no repair. They state I must stop turn off the vehicle and restart it in order to "wake up" the electronics. It has been in the repair shop 4 times in last six months when I bought it new. The dangerous part is while driving in ice and snow the vehicle's 4wd became inoperable resulting in loss of control of vehicle and a near miss crash.
