The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the air bag sensor light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic that determined a sensor inside the front bumper was the cause of the defect. The contact also reported that the driver's side rear brake line was rusted and ruptured, which caused the rear brakes to become inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the problem. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 72,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. When the contact attempted to brake at a low speed the abs system activated causing the vehicle to stop. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 84120. Updated 01/05/10 the consumer stated the abs should not have activated on dry pay pavement under normal speed conditions. The failure was due to the abs sensor being moved out of alignment due to corrosion. Updated 01/07/10.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving 9 mph, the contact attempted to decelerate but stopping power greatly decreased. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and was informed that the two front abs sensors had become corroded and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 15,669 and the current mileage was 65,500. The consumer stated the service did not come out until after the vehicle was out of warranty, therefore; the dealer and manufacturer refused assistance. Stopping distance was increased by at least 2 vehicle lengths.
