1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

At approximately 2:30 am, November 10th, my husband had just gotten back from the store, and had turned the truck off. The keys were not in the ignition at the time. He was sitting in the truck for about 10 minutes, when he noticed smoke coming from the dashboard. He opened the hood, noticed flames, and tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher. We called the fire department, but by the time they got to the house, the entire cab of the truck was engulfed in flames. The heat was so intense it melted the siding off my house. The truck was used for his business, and he had two chainsaws in the back that were destroyed. There is absolutely nothing left.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

2006 chevy Silverado 1/2 ton 4x4 problem with heater fan motor. I have had the heater fan stop and start the last 2 years, sometimes come on sometimes not. It does not work at all at this time. I contacted chevy customer service before and asked if the problem was in their records. No, the vehicle is out of warranty, 37,000 miles, I tried to talk to a manager at customer service 5 times today ( Jan-23-2010 ) and waste put on hold forever. The last time jefferson #3297, would not even forward me to a supervisor. Problem, fan motor not working. This is the best part. I took the front cover off the dash, covered with old dirt under the cover. Fan switch looks ok, called for prices, at dealership $23. 26 but they recommend I check the resistor ( because that's usually the problem ). Took apart the bottom of dash on passengers side as told to by service dept. Guess what, fried wires, and after calling again, replacement part for the fried plug is only $42. 36 but does include butt connectors for replacement. New resistor $62. 94 my concern is no heat for defrosting plus potential fire under dash. Wires and plug were fried and fuse never did blow.
