Carrier/rack problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Dashboard cracking everywhere.

Dashboard has cracked in three areas at passengers airbag location and over radio and instrument cluster. Evidently this is not an isolated incident. I have two trucks in this condition and the internet suggests that there are thousands across the nation. Estimate to repair 1000. 00 each!.

I noticed when I got into my vehicle that there was a crack on the passenger side dash, right above the airbag. This can't be safe! if the airbag were to deploy, then what is to stop the rest of the dash to explode apart like shrapnel causing injury to some in the vehicle. I am afraid for my passengers safety! about a week later found another crack on the driver's side of the dash. I have done some research and there are hundreds of others who have experienced the same problems! also, their pictures posted on social media show the cracks are in the same locations as that of my dash. I honestly believe that this problem is due to poor design and cheap constructed parts. Gm should be held accountable and rectify these issues before someone gets injured or even worse. . Dash board is cracking by air bag and continues to crack above instrument cluster. Concerned about shrapnel if air bag where to deploy causing more injury.

The dashboard on my 2007 (new body style) chevy Silverado LS, 4. 3l has cracked, randomly, right above the passenger air bag. There was nothing to cause this crack, it just appeared. After doing some research, many other gm owners, ranging from Silverados to tahoes to escaldes, also have cracks in their dash, in the same spot, some worse than others. My main concern is it cracking more, and also if the passenger airbag were to deploy, the possibility of the dash breaking apart and possibly throwing shards of plastic at me or passenger. Not only is the safety an issue, but the appearance is an issue, since its a rather large crack, it looks unsightly. Thanks for your time, hopefully something can be done about this popular defect that hasnt been addressed by gm yet.

My truck dash stated cracking in 2012 and just keep cracking all over ,now I have spoke to my gm dealer and she says there nothing they can do . But if a airbag was to deploy at over 200mph the dash will come flying with it now I am not the only person having this issue I no this is a safety hazard because I was a fire fighter for 17 years and no the dangers of flying objects . I just think if the lemon law say if the same thing brake more then three time the law covers it but should I have to replace my dash 3 time to get them to fix what is to be a big problem for me and other gm customers?.

Dashboard cracks in three different locations. As known by many other owners in the same locations. I am afraid if involved in an accident the airbags would cause dashboard to come apart flying into the cabin causing bodily injury to passengers.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Consumer states spare tire fell out and flew 20 feet in the air the consumer stated upon retrieving the tire, he discovered that the mounting bracket had severed, which caused the tire to fall off. The consumer set up an appointment to have the problem diagnosed. The official diagnoses was that the spare tire was installed backwards therefore causing the mount to sever. The consumer stated he had not touched the spare tire since he purchased the vehicle.
