Five problems related to noises during shifting have been reported for the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Hard downshifting when going down hills at slow speed. Jerking and clunking noise, and rpm goes up and sounds like gears are grinding. I have taken it to the dealership and they tell me nothing is wrong. It happens every time I am going down a hill with the breaks applied and going at a slow speed. The truck jerked so bad that the seat belt locked.
A 2017 chevy Silverado with a 5. 3l at 80000 miles the water pump went bad I had a 2006 same truck and it was 200000+ . Miles before I had to deal with this issue. I don't know if I'm the only one that had the water pump issue so soon or if this is a common problem with this truck that needs to be looked into, also excessive noises from the transmition when up or down shifting at low speeds and is like if struggled to down shift when you need it like when you need to pass a car in front of you most times you have to give it excessive throtle and only then it downshifts in a violent manner, again do not know if this is something that is only happening to me or if there is someone else out there with the same truck having similar issues, thanks.
Truck down and upshifts hard. When slowing down for a car in front of me, when I get back on the gas, the truck has no power like it can't figure out what gear to be in. Makes a loud clunking noise with light acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear. There is major hesitation when trying to down shift no matter what gear I'm in. Problem needs to be fixed before someone gets injured. Been to chevy 3 times for the same problem and all they tell me is the transmission will learn how you drive. They also told me there is no new update for the transmission module so I'm screwed.
Very hard shift going from 1st to 2nd gear and from 2nd gear to 1st gear. The shift was so hard that the tires made a chirping noise and hardly any throttle was being used.
A rough clunk noise occurs when trying to stop, and car actually revs to accelerate speed when applying breaking and trying to stop. (in . Motion) this is a dangerous issue. Transmission does not appear to smoothly enter into subsequent gears. A jerk occurs in between shifting of gears. (moving) I have been completely stopped on a flat street, and relax my foot off the break, and the car wants to leap jump forward. This is not safe. (stopped) there are several reports of this issue found in online forums from other owners with the same 2017 chevy Silverado. Just purchased vehicle in November.
