I had my truck serviced for the airbag recall in 2021 at clint newell auto in roseburg oregon, they did not have a necessary part to complete the job at the moment and I had moved out of town by the time they got it in. I just today brought it in and they said they did the second half of the recall but the component was not communicating. I was informed they would charge me to investigate why. I am writing to complain and seek resources. I cant afford to have the airbag problem investigated especially since it is likely their fault/negligence. The airbag light remains on and it is still a danger to me, also they were super rude and disorganized. Please help.
The passenger airbag randomly just blew up and destroyed my windshield are vision was impaired couldn’t see couldn’t hear cuz our ears where ringing and toxic chemicals and particles where flying around in the car from it blowing up. We had a 3 year old in the truck and my bestfriend. Are safety was definitely put at risk we where on the freeway and like I said we couldn’t see anything and windshield was completely shattered and none of us could hear a thing something terrible could have definitely went wrong.
Truck was purchased in June 8, 2021. I have had zero accidents , was assured it was not a salvage vehicle it displayed no warning lights I begin to received the notices, the warning light started to come on from time to time, took the truck to our local gosche chevy dealer. I was informed that it has an airbag for a 2500 truck and they will not replace it. I have not been in any accident with this vehicle. What am I to do, as I am a retired cancer /heart issues stricken senior citizen and this repair is not in my month to month budget and my only transportation for my medical appointments.
My vehicle has a recall on it ,I no longer feel safe driving it so I will like to have my vehicle replace with a new vehicle, that doesn't have safety hazard or recall.
I started by vehicle and as soon as it started, I felt and heard a very loud explosion under the seat, and the seat belts retracted extremely tight. Then I noticed the airbag light on the dashboard. Smoke filled the cab of the truck. Then I realized the airbag module under the seat had exploded.
The front passenger side air bag inflator ruptured sending particles and other debris throughout the passenger cabin while driving in city traffic, it is available for inspection, I feel like my safety and that of others was put at risk by the manufacturer not notifying me upon purchase, titling, and registration that this vehicle was the subject of a safety recall involving the air bags on this model, it posed a potentially life threatening risk to operate or be a passenger inside this vehicle and nothing has been inspected by anyone yet, it just happened a few hours ago, there was no warnings or messages prior to incident occuring unexpectedly. Something sounded as if it literally blew up inside the truck, thankfully I had no passengers at the time, it scared me badly, as I thought someone had hit me with their vehicle, after the explosion, the onstar telephone symbol illuminated on the mirror and the radio silenced itself, and the emergency flashers turned on by themselves and there appeared to be smoke pouring from the passenger side of the cabin but turned out to be the air bags powder residue.
Went to my local chevy dealership for them to fix the recall for my passenger air bag, less than a year later the airbag light came back on. I went to have it looked at and they told me it would be $145 to even see if it was the same problem, so now I have service airbag light and the recall was never fixed?.
The contact's husband owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was attempting to start the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the air bag control module needed to be replaced; however, while the vehicle was parked at the independent mechanic, the driver's and passenger's side air bags deployed without impact. No injuries were sustained. A mobile mechanic then diagnosed the vehicle and discovered that there was no communication with the air bag module. The mechanic stated that the air bag module was corroded and filled with water, and the third brake light was cracked and leaking water due to inclement weather. The mobile mechanic determined that the air bag module and connectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of NHTSA campaign number: 21v050000 (air bags) associated with the VIN; however, the contact had not received notification of the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The dealership allegedly replaced the takata airbag on the vehicle. Less than 50 miles later the "service airbag" dash light came on. When I took the vehicle back to the dealership they said "yea, this happens a lot" they schedule an appointment to check it out. Their conclusion was that the two items were not related and that I would need to pay for parts and labor. They said the air bag sensor was bad. That dashboard light was never on before I took it in to the dealership. I spoke to Chevrolet customer service who stated that dealerships are independent owner operators and since the item was closed in the recall data base that they couldn't do anything. Now I'm reaching out to NHTSA for help to fulfill the recall on the airbag that you recalled for the safety of the public. It appears to me that they are not taking the recall as serious as you are, but in fact they have found a way to bill people for the repairs of the airbag recall.

The fact that they scheduled me for an appointment was confirmation that they should have had the parts. I had to take time off from work for nothing.
When is gm going to repair the air bag in this truck.
Gm recall n212328760, nhtsda 21v050, I keep getting notices that parts are available to fix this passenger airbag, but untrue! dealer says no parts are available. Seems to me these notices lie, confuse, and mislead. Gm , takada, and/or global vehicle safety are lying. No recompense?.

This vehicle has an outstanding recall since may 2016. Manufacturer recall # 2049151, NHTSA 16v381. This repair is still not complete. Dealer tells me that parts are not available yet and there is no eta for repair parts. What is a reasonable time frame to expect that my vehicle will be made safe?.
Started my vehicle to move it in the driveway this past Saturday and before I was able to shift into gear the driver and passenger airbags deployed without warning. No collision, etc. The vehicle wasn't even out of park yet. Sounded like a shotgun went off in the cab of the truck. Luckily I was not leaned forward attempting to shift gears or I would have caught the full force of the deployment to my face. Took quite a hit to the chest and stomach area. Extremely fortunate this happened in the driveway and not while driving at highway speeds in traffic. Upon research found a pending recall which hasn't been resolved yet by NHTSA. This issue is real and extremely dangerous. I could have been seriously injured or injured others if this happened while driving. I am now stuck with 2 deployed airbags and if I wish to repair several thousands of dollars to fix problem. Gm needs to make this right and repair. If the manufacturer takata has identified a problem with the air bag deployment system provided and utilized by gm this should be repaired by gm.
Two cracks in the dash have formed. One on the drivers side and one on the passengers side. The crack on the passengers side travels from the dash air bag to the top joint between the two dash pieces. The crack on the drivers side travels from the joint between the two dash pieces towards the driver along the left side of the instrument portion of the dash. Notice the crack on the drivers side when sitting stationary in my driveway and then finding the crack on the passengers side.

Passenger airbag recall due to takata's supply to gm has been identified they are are defective and gm was given till August 2017 and nothing to date has been done to rectify this defective finding. Docket no. Nhtsa-2016-0124. Upon previous calls to gm they are dismissing this recall; however, the recall notice is on my license plate renewal form, searchable on the internet and the NHTSA website and yet no one is holding gm accountable for every 2007-2008 gm owner (certain 2007-2008 Cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext, Chevrolet avalanche, Silverado 1500, suburban, tahoe, GMC sierra 1500, yukon, and yukon xl vehicles) whom are at risk.
Air bag light is in and I had a lifter failure on my motor. Bed and rockers are rotting out.
Swerved to miss a deer and hit an embankment and a cement culvert on a highway at night, was by myself. Neither of my airbags deployed and I hit my chest extremely hard on the steering wheel and I am in severe pain from my ribs. Have severe hematoma and bruising.
Please finalize the decision on recall of takata airbags. I have been waiting for several years for an outcome. Every time I check on the recall, I am advised (whether it be by gm or NHTSA) that the recall is "incomplete. Remedy not yet available. " apparently, gm filed a petition for inconsequentiality and the determination of that petition has been hanging in limbo for years. Please either approve it or deny it. Well over a year ago, I contacted gm and they insisted that the vehicle is safer to drive. Meanwhile, class action lawsuits are occurring due to numerous us deaths related to the airbags. Nhtsa has not made a determination. I went so far as to contact my state attorney's office over a year ago and they could not comment. Please resolve and cause gm to advise consumers. Thank you!.
