Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Takata recall my trucks service airbag light came on, and I was soon after informed of a recall without a remedy involving the passenger airbag inflators.

Takata recall - received recall in regards to the airbag/inflator recall. Called local dealership but the remedy is unavailable due to parts from gm.

Takata recall. Received legal notice that I should contact nearest dealership to schedule a free repair of the airbag inflators. I was told the dealership did not have the equipment to replace the airbags. I am putting my family and myself at risk due to the recall.

Takata recall. . . I was notified in July 2016 of a recall on takata airbag inflators installed in my vehicle. This recall stated that the propellant in the inflator can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. When this propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflator can rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. As of November 2017, there is still no remedy available for this recall for a defective item that could result in death for me or my family. I have called about the availability of a remedy several times, with the most recent call taking place in August 2017, when I was assured that the solution would be available by the end of October. It is still not available. I live in alabama and have owned my truck for 7 years, so my airbag propellant has been exposed to the exact conditions and length of exposure that could result in death as stated in the recall furthermore, it angers me that the recall states that this propellant, when exposed to hot and humid conditions for an extended period of time, could result in death but then goes on to state that "the vehicle is presently safe to drive". I think that gm and takata have had plenty of time to establish a remedy for the problem. It is obvious to me that neither company cares about the safety of their customers. Some action needs to be taken against these companies to ensure that they take action to repair these potentially deadly problems.

Received a recall # 49151 letter in July 2016 stating that the passenger side airbag inflators are defective and that I would received a letter when parts were received. I never got a letter so I called Chevrolet customer assistance # 1-800-222-1020 on 8-22-2016 spoke with lisa and was told they have no parts and vehicle was safe to drive. If the vehicle was safe why did I received the recall.

Takata recall received letter stating my truck is affected by the takata airbag recall. The letter says my truck is "considered safe to drive" followed by a paragraph that says "the inflator may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries". I got a similar notice from Lexus a few days earlier, and Lexus offered a rental no questions asked until the issue is resolved. The chevy dealer said they are not offering rentals at this time. Gm customer service said my truck is safe to drive so no rental warranted. I asked the rep why did I get a letter then saying that my airbag may kill me and was told she can't answer that. I want a rental of a similar truck until this is fixed. I live in zone 1/a of the recall as well, so if anyone is likely to have a problem, we are in this area.

Received notice (NHTSA #16v383) in July of 2016 that a recall regarding the takata airbag inflators was in effect. Since that time there has been no further action on the recall and I have not been able to obtain a definite answer from anyone regarding if this recall is still in effect.

Takata inflators. In June of 2016, the warning light for an airbag system function came on. I had to replace one of the sensors that had malfuntioned near the front bumper that activates the deployment of the airbags - at my own expense. Upon researching this issue, I found a lot of owners of similar silverados experienced this same part problem. Then, I received gm recall 49152 in July, 2016 stating that "the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long-term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries". Since I live in north carolina and the truck stays parked outside 24/7, I'm concerned about my safety and anyone riding with me. While what has been warned has not occurred yet, I'm concerned that it could at any time - especially considering how the many of the airbag deployment sensors like mine that went bad seem to be faulty.

Takata recall: my truck is nine years old and has been in the hot climate of texas for all of those nine years so it should be on a first priority list to be fixed since prolonged heat is one of the causes that make the takata airbags unsafe. The recall notice says, "the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries," however general motors is not able to tell me a schedule for getting my truck fixed.

Takata inflators recall # 16v381 I have contacted the local Chevrolet dealer in santa rosa CA on numerous ocassions during the past 2 years in an attempt to get the air bag replaced. Each time I have been told that the parts are not available. I am concerned for my safety while driving my vehicle and request your assistance.

I have received mailings from general motors, and bob mccosh Chevrolet dealership, (where I purchased truck new), and now takata, all saying my truck has faulty air bag inflators!
