Side/window Air Bag problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I had a recall on my 2008 silvarodo to replace passenger side airbag. I recieved a letter saying parts were in and to make an appointment to have it replaced. I made appointment with victory chevolet in charlotte to have work done. When I got there they said they did not have the parts and would call when they came in. Why make an appointment just to hear them say "we don't have the parts".

Cracked dashboard in several places. Possible obstruction of passenger side air bag in the event of deployment. Pieces of dashboard might become sharp pieces flying around the cab in case of a collision.

I was moving the truck in the driveway, I got out the truck to retrieve something from the rear and while the truck was still running I closed the door and both driver and passenger side airbags deployed.

I received notification that my passenger side air bag is defective. (may 2016). I've been following this for 3 years. I called gm today and was informed it is still pending and remedy is not yet available. I called nhtfa and the complaint representative was very short and lack concern for my complaint. I said so this could take 10 years, and he said however long it takes.

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 10 mph and making a left turn, the side air bags deployed without warning or impact. The occupant in the front passenger seat was in a child safety seat and sustained injuries to the head. Medical attention was not provided. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The san bernardino sheriff's department was contacted, but a police report was not filed. The contact called guaranty Chevrolet (711 e. 17th street, santa ana, CA 92701, (866) 535-8673) and was referred to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 8-4890656954. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Takata recall three attempts over the last year to have replacement airbag installed by dealership have resulted in same explanation. . . Remedy not yet resolved, gm will notify. ( passenger side airbag ) t. K. Holdings inc. Legal notice of bankruptcy filing chap. 11 received 11/10/2017.

"takata recall". I spoke to a Chevrolet dealership person (all star Chevrolet north, 9352 plank road, baton rouge, la) about replacing my truck passenger side airbag. I first contacted them on November 7, 2017 and was told the device was not available. I contacted them again on may 10, 2018 and spoke with amanda. Amanda said she would check with her manager to determine if the part was available to schedule the fix but I have not been contacted. The dash board on my 2008 silverado ltz is cracking in several places, my safety concern is, that if the passenger side air bag were to deploy, there is a great possibility that sharp pieces (shards) of the cracking, defective dash, would be sent flying through the cab. This could possibly cause lacerations and blindness. This dash cracking on 2007-2014 gm products is well known and very common. Replacing the factory dash is very costly. I am concerned that aftermarket "covers" or "caps" might interfere with the air bag deployment. Also there is a recall 49151 on the air bags. I am also concerned that an after market "cap" or "cover" might interfere with the replacement or service of the recalled air bag, as most of these aftermarket caps are difficult to "uninstall", if access is needed to repair or replace components below the dash.

The dashboard is cracked in 3 places, one of which is touching the passenger side airbag. The cracked edges of the plastic are sharp and would do serious damage to a passenger in the event of an accident and/or airbag deployment. The truck is very well taken care of and is kept clean and well serviced. The dashboard cracked while the truck was parked. One of the cracks is in the center of the dashboard and splits the dash into two pieces.

Noticed rather large crack on 2008 Chevrolet silverado ltz dash board on the driver side hump of the dash and passenger side airbag. Dealer estimated at the minimum of $400 repair. Could possibly cause harm if ever in accident.

There is a large crack on the front left side of my passenger side airbag. I am afraid that if the airbag has to deploy that it will send plastic shards in the air at a high velocity. I don't want additional injury to occur from broken plastic. Gm has refused to repair this as a defect in their truck line.

The dashboard is cracked around the front passenger side airbag. After searching the internet this is a widespread problem for gm vehicles year models 2007 - 2013. I fear this is a safety issue. Please help.

I have a 2008 silverado extra cab 4 wheel drive and was ran off the road and hit a bump not even big enough to pop a tire no body damage and the side air bags deployed. Dealer says not a defect problem I think it is . Can we not drive a 4 wheel drive off road?.
