general problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My vehicle has a recall on it ,I no longer feel safe driving it so I will like to have my vehicle replace with a new vehicle, that doesn't have safety hazard or recall.

Purchased truck in massachusetts for 13,000. 00 and on the outside it was a beautiful truck. Frame is completely rotted and I was never able to get it inspected and I have no vehicle and no way to repair or replace it.

Vehicle frame rust. Available for inspection. Compromised vehicle frame can result in a catastrophic incident posing a significant safety risk to self and others. Vehicle was inspected by an ase certified mechanic who identified compromised vehicle frame.

2008 chev. Silverado severe u underside rusting , including factory tow attachments. Uncle has 28599 miles , bought new and not driven in inclement weather. Wax coating on frame almost completely worn off. Was told it will not pass nys inspection next year.

There was no accident but due to the manufacturer not using a rust propellant coating on the frame I have a severely severely damaged frame the structural integrity of my vehicle is compromised and dangerously unsafe the frame is rusted in so many spots there's a few places where it is broke the back end of the vehicle sprain is starting to crumple this should be something that is fixed by gm as a recall it is unsafe it is dangerous it puts my life at risk driving the vehicle and I refuse to put my kids in the vehicle due to the safety issues.

As with many Chevrolet trucks the frame and cross members have rust to the point that they are breaking off. This is a major safety concern as the support the fuel tank and suspension mounts. It is also a major concern to the structural integrity of the truck. No it has never been inspected by anyone else, as it don't need to be it is very obvious on all gm trucks.

The dashboard is breaking into small pieces. The dealership said this is only cosmetic and refused to fix it. After finding this is a common issue it was recommended to submit this form.

Cracked dashboard extending from air bag compartment. Cracked dashboard extending from drivers side windshield up to instrument cluster. This truck spends most of its time in the garage and has less than 100,000 miles. First crack appeared around 40,000 miles and second around 88,000 miles.

The frame of my vehicle is rusted out almost completely. I am concerned about my safety and the safety of others if I drive it on the highway ,I have taken great care with my truck I only have around 70,000 miles on it and a frame should last a lot longer than this one has, and I have read other peoples complaints about this vehicle also,I would appreciate any help you can offer me. I have no files to upload or any accidents to report I’m just extremely concerned about driving this vehicle with the frame in the condition it’s in. Thank you.

Cracked dash 2008 Chevrolet silverado.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet 1500 silverado. The contact stated that while travelling at 60 mph or at a stop the whole front console would illuminate before the vehicle shut off. The vehicle would completely shut off then cut back on after a few seconds. The contact called the dealer terry cullen Chevrolet 1250 battle creek rd, jonesboro, GA 30236 and set an appointment for 06/29/2018. The manufacturer was contacted and made an appointment with the dealer. No diagnosis has been made yet. The failure mileage was 147,000. Tf.

Frame and body rusting real bad.

I was on highway 84 passing another car at speed 75 mph the door locks started came on and off, the safety belt lights came on, the engine started to slow and speed up, the clock went from 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm, the date went to 01/01/2004, the a/c started to blow hot air. I stopped on the shoulder and turned it off, everything stopped only the abs light stayed on. I called onstar to check what's wrong, they said everything looks good, check the tires, if the tires are good, you are good to drive. All tires were 33psi. I reset all the electronic functions and went home. I was in danger for at least 5 minutes in the left lane passing another car.

Takata recall . I've notified my local dealership "woodland motors" 2 or 3 times about this. They keep saying that my vehicle isn't part of the recall, yet I've received a couple of notices saying the opposite, and also when I used the form that led to this site, it tells me that my vehicle is eligible. . . . . . . Aside from that, I've actually not experienced to my knowledge, faulty airbag functionality. VIN: 3gcec13j48g229411 NHTSA recall number: 16v381 mf recall number: 2049151.

2gcec13c281129897 dash board is all broken up. I have hear alot of these trucks have the same problem.

When locks are activated with key fob, doors can not be unlocked without using key fob. A person could be trapped inside the vehicle. Chevrolet dealers do not have a fix for this.

My father experienced a problem with his 2008 chevy silverado, he had the same switch problem that other chevy vehicles have been recalled for. Having the truck checked out by a GMC dealer he was told he would have to pay to have it corrected as it was no longer under warranty. They told him to use only the key and be sure nothing else is attached to the key. That is exactly what the recall stated about the other vehicles that are on the recall list. His problem is the same as those vehicles. So why no recall on his vehicle?.

I ordered a mevotech control arm ball joint assembly from an online dealer 6 months ago. The ball joint failed and sheared in half causing a good amount of damage to my vehicle. I worked with the dealer I bought the part from and they are not covering the costs for the damage caused due to the failing part. Now the company who made the part is also saying they will not pay for the damages. My whole truck came slamming down on the tire and damaged wheel well components (fender liner), the fender flare, and gashed my tire and rim. I had to have the truck towed home because it was inoperable.

Pulling out of a parking lot I started to accelerate, to get into traffic I heard a horn and looked over, only to run straight into a light pole. It was a pretty strong impact. My airbag did not deploy and my face and head hit the steering wheel.

While driving home from work the vehicle started making noises and shaking. We took it to the shop to find out the issue was caused by the lifters which are being housed by plastic. According to the mechanic lifters should be held by metal not plastic due to the nature of the requirement on this type of vehicle. Using plastic to house the lifters is a bound issue. Other parts affected or that had to be changed due to this issue (cam, head set, guides, timer, set wire, set head, coolant, oil and filter). It cost us $3,911. 04 to get the truck fixed since the engine basically had to be removed to get to the lifters. This should never have happened if the lifters were stabalized in the correct type of material. We feel a recall should be made for this issue and we should be reimbursed.

In 2013 the transmission went out 2 months after 3yr warranty less than 20 thousand miles called chevy would not help me. Replaced transmission now 2017 transmission went out again. My doors don't unlock passenger window don't go down I would never buy a chevy again I was driving both times and it left me stranded.

Bought this vehicle brand new in 2008, had problem with passenger window not operating, dealership changed out actuator. Since 2011 the passenger door lock will not engage with fob or with the mechanism on the door nor will it engage when vehicle is put in gear. After reading this web page, it seems to me that this door locking system should be recalled and be repaired at no cost to the customer.

Passenger side door lock actuator failed. The passenger door does not have a outside key lock to unlock the door. Shortly there after the driver's side actuator failed. They both failed prematurely. I have read there are a great number of failures but gm has nothing in place to replace them under a recall.

I bought this truck new 9/2008. Frame was starting to flake off its factory undercoating and some rust was showing. Present time July 2015 frame is still flaking off its factory undercoating and rusting everywhere.
