Plastic dashboard cracking around passenger airbag and drivers side instrument panel.

Two cracks in the dash have formed. One on the drivers side and one on the passengers side. The crack on the passengers side travels from the dash air bag to the top joint between the two dash pieces. The crack on the drivers side travels from the joint between the two dash pieces towards the driver along the left side of the instrument portion of the dash. Notice the crack on the drivers side when sitting stationary in my driveway and then finding the crack on the passengers side.

My dashboard has cracks on the driver side and passenger side. The one on the passenger side affects the airbag and the one on the driver side has a run that won't stop.

The dash on my silverado has significant crack. So many cracks portions of the dash can almost be removed. The noise is distracting, the potential flying objects that could become airborn in an accident are very concerning.

Dash on my truck is cracked in multiple places, with one near the airbag. I'm concerned that if my airbag ever inflates, pieces of the dash will become projectiles due to how brittle it is. This could cause serious injury.

My husband has a 2008 chevy silverado and the dash board is cracking.

Cracks on the dashboard suddenly appear at the passenger air bag side and above the radio controls. I'm the original owner and always take care of my truck, this is just very poor quality and possible a safety issue since cracks are next to the air bag! gm must replace this at no cost for the customers!.

This vehicle was purchased new in 2008 and with 40,000 miles the dash board has cracked in 3 different places, 1 crack is on the corner of the passenger air bag which could be a safety issue if the airbag deployed. This problem happened just sitting in my driveway.

My dashboard is cracking in multiple places and I'm concerned about the crack around the airbag. If the airbag deploys I'm afraid of sharp flying dash parts killing someone. The dash is very unstable and will eventually fall apart.

The dash on these vehicles crack for no reason at all. I'm a bit worried that if an airbag was deployed that someone could be injured due to the sharp debris from the hard plastic these dashes are made of. There is numerous trucks from gm which these dashes are cracking in the same spots and gm is not recalling them which they should. It is going to end up being a liability and someone will get injured due to there cheap plastic and poor engineering! my truck barely gets drove and sits in my driveway and I have came out twice to find two new cracks out of nowhere!.

Dash board cracks everywhere! I been using sun reflector sinc a bought the truck but cracks still coming out cheap material!!!.

My garage kept silverado dash is cracking for no apparent reason. It formed over night and now has grown about 6 inches.

Dash is cracked/cracking above instrument panel and around passenger airbag.

Dashboard is cracked in several places.

The dash board started with a small crack, noticed the crack when I got into my vehicle, don't recall the exact date but happened a year or two ago. Sometime in July 2016 I got into my vehicle and now the crack has gotten worse. Both times when I noticed the cracks my vehicle was parked.

Dash board cracking. Dash has already been replaced once. Now new dash has cracked in same location as the first. Seems to be a common problem but gm will not recall this defect.

My dash has three cracks completely across the middle, and a crack on each side directly in front of driver side and also directly in front of passenger side right in corner around airbag compartment. Which my concern is a potential safety hazard! my vehicle was parked in parking lot, in shaded area. I went into store, returned aprx. 30 minutes and saw cracks. They were not there when I exited the vehicle to go in store.

Dash has four cracks in it and gm knows it is a problem and will not recall. They want $750 to fix a cracked dash that split in two.

As others are worried, the dash boards of these trucks and suvs in the 07+ model years are prone to crack into pieces, especially around the passenger airbag. The dash can become projectiles upon airbag deployment and can cause injury to occupants of the vehicle. Although I'm not aware of this happening, I am concerned, along with many others, that this can pose a very dangerous safety hazard.

My vehicle had been parked all day at work and when I come out of work I noticed my dash had cracked beside the passenger airbag. I feel if the airbag ever go off it will send shrapnel out and cause injury to the passenger or the driver.

There is a crack just in front near the windshield on the left side of the passenger air bag in my truck only has 94k miles this is a continued problem as I owned a 2009 tahoe z71 that did not even have 30k miles on it prior to this that had the same problem occur this is a safety concern if the air bag is to deploy it will throw that plastic as a projectile this matter needs to be fixed my gm as there are thousands of trucks and suvs with this problem.

With truck stationary, I have inspected and observed the following. Dash has cracked through multiple locations to include areas for stored airbags. Rattling sound is coming from insecure dash. Radio and speakers function intermittently and other times with static. Replaced speakers in doors and that did not resolve the problem. Drivers seat belt did not connect to receiver end. Replaced part ordered from gm parts website. A constant water leak comes from underneath dash along firewall into drivers side floorboards. Water soaked carpet and insulation has wicked to rear floor areas. No one has found the water source, but it has rusted driver side door panel screws and ruined carpet. Water appears to be worse when using hvacc or defroster. Replaced fuel vent valve solenoid underneath truck, near refuel cap/door, three times due to check eng light.

Dash is severely cracked.

Dashboard has 3 large cracks that occurred with no accidents or trauma to the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary when cracks occurred. The cracks occurred at three different times. The two smaller cracks are around the airbag housing. (see pictures).

Dashboard is cracked all the way across from passenger side and driver side and in the middle. Looks like an earthquake. Crack is noticeable at all times. The news was on channel 5 wmc-tv, memphis, TN. And was showing andy wise's "investigates" about cracks in dashboards. That is how I obtained this information.

The dashboard is cracking and falling apart. It started with cracking around the passenger side airbag. It is now cracking forward of the instrument panel. This is a safety issue if involved in a crash and the airbag deploys. I contacted gm/Chevrolet and they said they cannot offer any assistance because of the mileage, 183k. The question is, why are the dashes cracking at all !.

I am writing to you today to express my concern over cracked dashboards due to a faulty product of gm/Chevrolet. I have a huge crack in my dashboard which is not caused by maintenance or the sun. This vehicle also has not been in an accident that could of caused this. I have 3 other people at my work that has this same problem in the same spot. You can also read about several other stories online with the same issue. Gm refuses to put out a recall to fix their faulty product. I fear that in an accident this will cause pieces of the dashboard to fly about the vehicle causing further injuries to a passenger if the airbag deploys.
