The dash on my 2008 silverado is cracked. The crack is located at the airbag on the passenger side. The crack is located at the top left side of the airbag opening. I am afraid that if the airbag is deployed the cracked dash will become shrapnel and kill, or seriously injure people in the cab of the truck.
Takata recall dash is coming apart on the passenger side. The airbag light stays on because the dash is cracked where the airbag is located. This is on the passenger side. Fear for safety. We believe it is unsafe. It appears defective. Chevrolet refuses to fix.

My dash is cracked on the left side of airbag. This happened a little over a year ago. The dash now is cracked in two places on the left side of airbag and also on driverside of dash. I have contacted dealer and also general motors when I first noticed this in 2014. I also contacted them again in 2015, I was told this is not a safety issue. My concern is they told me that I know this is a problem and I need to fix this or I am responsible if there is a problem with airbag deploying or a piece of the dash injuring someone in the event that the airbag does deploy. I feel this a safety issue that needs to be recalled.
Dashboard started a small crack on top of dashboard surrounding there passenger airbag. Another crack started on top dashboard and traveled to the windshield. The dash is now separated into two pieces. The dealer explained my warranty excluded trim and could not warranty the part. No accident or trauma was the cause. General motors was notified and they were not any help in this matter. I now fear sharp plastic will be expelled in the cab if airbag is deployed.

The dashboard is cracked in 3 places, one of which is touching the passenger side airbag. The cracked edges of the plastic are sharp and would do serious damage to a passenger in the event of an accident and/or airbag deployment. The truck is very well taken care of and is kept clean and well serviced. The dashboard cracked while the truck was parked. One of the cracks is in the center of the dashboard and splits the dash into two pieces.
The dash has developed cracks that may cause injuries to any body part that contacts it due to sharp edges. It may also cause injury during a crash and possibly by airbag deployment. I understand this is a problem on most of these vehicles. These cracks developed without physical force or any induced damage. The cracks happened while the vehicle was parked.

Dash starting cracking around passenger air bag three years ago and is now cracking in two more places above the radio. Gm refuses to make any effort to help with the outrageous cost of repairing this defect. I have great concerns about shards of plastic flying in cab from the recalled tokata air bags that are in this vehicle that I am still waiting on gm to come up with a replacement for.

Dashboard has cracked in several places. This started when the truck had 40,000 miles on it, it now has 60. 000. If I would have an accident would the dash fly to pieces and injury occupants?.
On our 2008 chevy Silverado 1500 lt 4x4 z71, the dashboard has cracked so badly where the passenger airbag is, that if the airbag were to deploy, plastic shrapnel is going to go flying, which could injure or possibly kill someone. On the flipside; the airbag may not even deploy due to the damaged dashboard. In either case, this is a major safety issue that gm refuses to acknowledge, dispite now thousands of customers tahoes, suburbans, and (all chevy & GMC trucks & SUV's 2007 and newer) having the exact same issue. After multiple calls to chevy and gm, and them being extremely rude and in denial; the best they can do is to replace the dash for a price of $200-500, which we currently don't have, and should not have to pay for, as gm should stand behind the safety of their vehicles after charging the prices they do. In the meantime, we don't feel safe even driving our truck down the street. This is a serious safety issue, and needs to be an urgent recall, before someone is killed! there are message boards, facebook pages, and twitter accounts all set up just for frustrated chevy & GMC customers having the cracked dashboard and airbag issue, so please investigate this problem, NHTSA. Since gm refuses to help it's thousands of scared customers, we pray you will help to stop this madness.

My dash is cracked in two different places. Started out small and are getting larger as time goes on. My power windows and door locks have not worked on the vehicle since I bought it in 2012.
Cracked Chevrolet dash flaps when windows rolled down creating visible distraction very similar to attached picture Chevrolet knows this is an ongoing issue for their 2007-2014 models and apparently won't do anything unless compelled to by a regulatory body. If I get into an accident I will make sure to advise of what caused the distraction. This is not only an eyesore but it is also incredibly dangerous. Who makes new vehicles with all the emissions standards and then skimps on the dash? this is such a problem there is a facebook group with 6,825 members and you can do find it by searching. Dash has cracked in 2 different places, one from the upper left corner of the air bag, to the defroster panel, and the one from the radio, to the defroster panel.
My dash starting cracking at 30k miles. I assume it was just my luck. I looked up replacement parts to fix my dash, and I stumbled upon thousands of gm vehicles with the same issue. . . Gm charged us good money for our vehicles. I bought for being a safe vehicle. I'm not sure if my airbag will deploy for my passenger and where will all the shredded dash plastic will have to be picked out of me and my passengers bodies. . .

The dash on my 2008 Chevrolet silverado has cracked near the passenger side airbag across to the driver's side. One crack actually met another larger crack and a piece of the dash has fallen off leaving a hole.
Severe dash cracking, has about 5-6 major cracks, including around the airbag area. Concern for how the airbag might cause piecers of plastic to injure occupants of the vehicle if the airbag was to deploy. Very concerned when I have three kids driving in the truck. Not to mention there still hasnt been a recall on the airbag situation. This is not good!.
I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the dashboard is cracked in two different places. One crack is on the passenger side, directly over the air bag. The other crack is above the left side of the instrument cluster. Every 2008-2013 Chevrolet pickup or SUV that I have seen has one, if not both, of these cracks. I feel that it is very unsafe to have any damage in or around the airbag system, and I do not understand why gm will not fix an issue that is their fault.
