Takata recall: upon receipt of the recall notice, I have been contacting gm about this. The standard answer I have been given each time is that a 'repair is not yet available' along with 'lack of available replacement parts'. Now the call center told me that they are replacing the airbags but due to the number of affected vehicles that it is going to take a very long time and I cannot just go to my local dealership for the repair and that I must wait for the letter to come in the mail to get the airbags replaced. I plan to call my local dealership to see if they have a different perspective. If the VIN shows needing replacement, one should be able to the dealership for immediate replacement of a potentially life threatening device. There NHTSA shouldn't allow any "petition of inconsequentiality" when it comes to life saving decisions, tell the oem to replace 100%, no exceptions.

I would like to complain that this issue has not been resolved. There has to be some solution that will help the owners of these vehicles instead of, let's see what happens to you and your loved ones. I would rather have no airbag than one with the probably of killing the people in the front seats, according to the warnings put out on these airbags. Deactivation of the airbag would be a better solution than doing nothing. Where is the common sense in this situation? if you or someone you love were behind the wheel of one of these vehicles, wouldn't you want someone to do something instead of taking the chance of getting murdered by something that is supposed to help save your life?.

Over the instrument cluster there is now a 6 inch wide hole which leaves electrical components exposed. This is a large safety issue and I would like to have a factory replacement since this a widely known defect by gm.
