The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle experienced rough idling. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact was adding engine oil every 3,000 miles. The contact stated that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact was informed by the dealer that the oil consumption was normal due to the mileage on the vehicle. A year prior to the failure, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the steering wheel while turning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Frame of truck is completely rusted out, truck has only 88,000 miles. The body of the truck is in perfect condition with no rust but the frame is shot! this will be over 4,500 dollars to repair, this seems to be a common issue in the chevy and GMC trucks. I did see on a web site gm had issues on application of a wax sealer on the frames that was thought to be discoverd in 2020. I contacted chevy at 1-800-222-1020 call center and was told at this time it is out of warranty and thank you for being a valued chevy customer! I have never had a vehicle in my life of 63 years have a bad frame like this, my wife and I have had over 19 gm vehicles in our life but never a issue like this! these frames are worse than the toyata tacoma frames! 10 years old well maintained, frame is shot.
On two occasions the vehicle has been parked in our drive way and has rolled away approximately 15 ft until being stopping at a snowbank. There have been no warning lights that would indicate an issue prior to this happening. Searching open recalls, I found that although my specific VIN is not affected by a safety recall, there is a recall for this issue on other 2013 Chevrolet silverado. I believe my vehicle should be included in this recall. If this were to have happened in another location, it could have resulted in a crash and major damage to bystanders or other vehicles.
Service traction control system and service stabilitrak system comes on dashboard periodically after driving for 30 minutes then goes off.
Bought this truck from granger dcjr in orange, TX on 7/20/21. Upon further inspection of vehicle on 7/25/21 found that there are no bushings in the rear shocks and that when you steer the truck at low speeds from a stop sign the rack and pinion locks up and you can not steer the truck. The steering issue almost caused me to hit 3 cars and almost run in a ditch. Dealer states that they have spent to much money on this truck and refuses to do the repairs. Now im stuck with a truck that cant be driven. Also this truck supposedly passed a 172 point inspection but I dont see how with these issues.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet silverado 1600. The contact stated that while driving low speeds, while trying to park the vehicle while engaging in reverse and drive the power steering wheel seized with no warning. The contact mentioned that the failure occurs periodically. The vehicle was taken to alexander Chevrolet Buick GMC 2211 TN-46, dickson, TN 37055 (615) 446-5141 where the contact was informed that that's the way the electrical power steering operated with no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage mileage was 12,000. Dr.
While at low speeds, usually during a parking lot maneuver type condition. . . My truck's entire electrical system seems to shut down several times for like a second or two at a time. But it happens rapidly. Llke 4 to 5 times within 10 seconds. Due to the electronic steering not operating when it does this, it will bounce the steering sporadically when it cuts on/off and kind of scare you. At the same time the sad lights flicker and the door locks lock and unlock rapidly. Even as a veteran driver, it all happens so fast that you cannot regain control easily. When I stop, turn the truck off then restart it, it's been ok. This has only happened 3 times. But it clearly seems to be a problem with the ignition system shutting on/off really fast.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that when the contact was pulling into a parking lots at a very low speeds the power steering will completely go out. When vehicle had higher rpm's the power steering works fine. The dealer had not been contacted yet. The manufacturer stated that there was not a recall at this time and to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was 56,000. Tf.
Trying to turn in driveway at home, pickup truck surged ahead, causing head-on collision with fire hydrant, steering wheel locked up, seatbelt locked up, doors would not unlocked. My wife sustained numerous injuries. Complained to insurance company to no avail. Gm showed up at my house for computer analysis, process still ongoing. Truck in shop for surging waiting on results. My wife will not operate truck anymore.
At parking speeds the steering gets like if power steering is dead. Took it to dealership who noticed problem and said it was "normal" . Parking can become a risky maneuver. Ps fluid and belt are normal.
