Started vehicle pulled out of garage and power went out and vehicle stopped everything shut off. Wouldn't start. No power at all. Then waited about 1 minute and truck started and everything was reset, clock time. And it displayed some error on dashboard about rolling down window and it will clear system . But couldn't because about 2 hours before I drove 7 miles to pick my son up from school and got out of truck got my son and when we got back into truck put key in and turned it nothing truck wouldn't start. Nothing at all. Waited a minute tried again truck started right up. Except my window wouldn't roll down driver front window. Every other window works. This truck is barely 4 years old.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the steering icon flashed with a lock, the brake light had flashed and then various warning indicators flickered on the dashboard when the failures happened. There was an intermittent failure with an abnormal steering condition felt (seized) when the steering wheel had been turned to the left. In addition, the brakes had failed to properly function so the contact applied force to ensure that there was a complete stop. The dealer team lake road auto sales, 13988 conneaut lake rd, conneaut lake, PA 16316, (814) 382-9336 was notified of the failures, had the vehicle for longer than 3 weeks, a loaner was provided however, the contact had not received any specific technical guidelines for the repairs. The dealer released the vehicle back to the owner and the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where as a second loaner vehicle was provided however, the vehicle was given back with no repair remedy. The contact was uncertain if the failures may result in a catastrophic crash. The dealer had indicated that the vehicle was serviced before the vehicle was purchased for NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however, the contact let the dealer know several times that the remedy failed to provide a permanent fix but received no recourse from the dealership. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: pe18012 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes). The manufacturer had not issued any brake system recalls for this year, make and model but had issued 4 electrical system recalls, 2 steering recalls however the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the multiple failures to determine the guidelines to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
Dash lights would flicker along with headlights. When you would turn the wheel, the entire dash would go out like you turned off the key and then come right back on. Sometimes the truck would die in the road and died while turning and created near misses for accidents. When the system would come back on, it would disable the steering assist and cause the steering wheel to jerk back towards center. Took the truck to the dealer with video evidence of problem and they advised there was not recalls, service bulletins or even knowledge of a problem and wanted to charge $128. 00 per hour flat rate to trouble shoot the problem. After doing some research at home, I found numerous issues with the same problems on forums and related back to a known ground issue under the dash that is labeled g218 where insulation or material is found under the ground nut creating a higher resistance. I was able to remove this material myself and correct the problem with no further issues. The scary part about this is, my daughter had the truck die on her a couple times in the middle of traffic and was almost in a wreck because of it. Gm refuses to accept their responsibility on this when it is a gm manufacture problem.
