1 Wheel problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/12/2026

Driving at highway speeds the message center prompted us to restart the truck and put itself into neutral. Upon attempting to do so, the message center read conditions not correct to shift. We were traveling in a single lane highway thankfully on a decent where we coasted into a parking lot. The truck list all power steering and brakes. We turned the truck off and attempted to restart. Lights were randomly flickering on and off, but the starter couldn’t turn the engine over. After 3 hours of waiting on Chevrolet roadside assistance we obtained our own tow service. The truck tires had seized up causing the driver to drag the truck into the flatbed. The emergency brake kept resetting itself. The following day 7/13 Chevrolet had the truck towed to the dealership. On Monday 7/16 we were informed the engine had catastrophic failure with less than 24k miles. This is the second major engine breakdown as the first was at 5k miles where one side of the engine had collapsed lifters. Engines are on back order but in reviewing other experiences the replacements experience the same issues. The truck is not a safe vehicle to drive.

2 Wheel problem of the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/29/2026

Driving in normal driving conditions, east bound [xxx], 70 mph, tire popped off rim, no damage to tire or wheel, no apparent cause. Contacted road side assistance and they proceeded to tow to hank graff Chevrolet in davison. Warranty was reported by myself to both on star and representative at dealership. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Wheel problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/27/2026

Starting back in June 2025 loss of engine power multiple times. Many times almost hit from behind as I turned onto a highway. Found out vehicle had a stop sale recall at the time of purchase and I had issues with back right tire. Took truck to a tire shop and learned that the wheel was welded in many places and fracture was visible. Finally, got the dealership to pay attention in October to my concerns. They were going to allow me to trade the vehicle out for another one while paying off the bank but that’s not what they did. They attempted the repair and tried to hand it back to me. 1/27/26 was recently told this was corrected, and the sales person told me when he picked it up from shop he couldn’t go more than 30 mph. Dealership management told him not to tell me. I am submitting this complaint for immediate review regarding ruiz ranch motors (spring branch, TX) for an illegal vehicle sale, prolonged withholding of my vehicle, misrepresentation of a “loaner” vehicle, and coercive threats involving law enforcement. This matter involves ongoing safety risks, financial harm, and improper dealer conduct affecting both myself and my minor child. Summary of key facts (concise): • on June 25, 2025, I purchased a 2021 Chevrolet silverado (VIN 1gcuyhet7mz155657) from ruiz ranch motors, financed through ally financial. • the vehicle was subject to a gm stop-sale / no-sale safety recall (NHTSA 24v797000) at or around the time of sale. • I repeatedly raised safety concerns beginning shortly after purchase. These concerns were dismissed for months. • in November, ruiz ranch motors took possession of my 2021 silverado under the representation that they were “working on trade numbers” and a solution to correct the experience. Misrepresented “loaner / trade” vehicle: • I was provided a 2023 Chevrolet silverado, represented as a potential trade option, no trade was made (only dealership delay) this vehicle now has a engine light and no cooperation from dealership.

4 Wheel problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/29/2025

I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding the ongoing issues with my vehicle. The vehicle continues to overheat, the check engine light repeatedly comes on, and it has cut off unexpectedly. The tire air pressure sensors as well. These issues have persisted despite multiple repair attempts. I initially brought the vehicle to the dealership in December 2024, and again in March 2025 and now the vehicle is having the same issues to date December 2025. On both occasions, the vehicle remained at the dealership for over a month for repairs. Unfortunately, the problem has not been resolved. Each time I inquire, I am given different explanations as to why the issue cannot be fixed, which has been extremely frustrating and concerning. Additionally, I am being charged for services that I do not fully understand or agree with, especially given that the original problem still exists. Due to the lack of resolution, I have also contacted GMC directly to file a formal complaint. At this point, the ongoing delays, lack of clear communication, and unresolved mechanical issues are unacceptable. I requested a clear explanation of all charges, as well as a concrete plan outlining the steps needed to finally fix my vehicle. Please provide the appropriate point of contact and advise on how this issue will be resolved promptly. I expect immediate attention to this matter. Thank you.

9 Wheel problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/03/2025

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was pulling to the right and the sensor light was illuminated while purchasing the vehicle. The contact stated that the failures were temporary. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle pulled to the right and the rear end of the vehicle felt as though the rear was dragging. 10 Wheel problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/15/2024

Purchased this vehicle from a used car dealership 2 months ago. Now the transmission seems to be going out with 132,000 miles on it and funny noise from the transfer case. I have researched and found numerous complaints about the drive train on this vehicle and as a disabled veteran I don't have the funds to have it fixed. How can I get a recall in place for this issue?.

11 Wheel problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/07/2024

Dealership attempting to sell a vehicle with an open recall was more than prepared to let me drive and potentially sell a vehicle with a recall open causing the rear tires to randomly lock up. Made problem known to salesman and said they'd take it off the market. Now, they lowered the price by $2600 as it was previously listed at $25,571, now listed at $22,971. Listing still not down.

12 Wheel problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/22/2024

We were driving 40 mph when all the sudden the rear tires locked up without warning. We almost got in an accident and thankfully were able to get off the road. Then, the check engine light came on and the truck went into limp mode and would not shift gears automatically and it was difficult to make it home. We had a mechanic come to our house to run a diagnostic and they informed us of the recall and confirmed it is what the truck was experiencing. We took it to the dealership and they confirmed the recall and that there was no available fix and nothing they could do for us. Meanwhile, ours is not safe to drive.

13 Wheel problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

They sold me a vehicle at the dealer. Three days after I bought it, I had to buy tires for it. Because they were in bad condition, they also charged me for a liquid called 3m nitro and I don't understand why they put it in if the tires were in bad condition, and they also promised to fix some details on the bumper and details on the paint on the body of the truck, and the transmission has already started to fail, and they don't want to help me or take responsibility. The truck still has a dealer warranty.

14 Wheel problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2024

With only 70,000 miles on the truck it started to have a hard shudder and wheels locking up. During the wheel shudder it would shift hard as well. We took it to a shop and they said it was our transmission control module and that the transmission had metal shavings and would fail soon. They also said doing any service to these transmissions can cause failure. We were informed that the dealership is aware these transmissions are all failing. The cost to replace is over $6,500. The dealership should have to do an official recall for this. After some research I found that the dealership has acknowledged the issue by replacing the tcm and uploading new software to put the transmission into a fail safe instead of putting in a new transmission. The issues that the failure causes has made thousands of people have to get new transmissions before the service is even due. A quick search on google states that 461,000 vehicles were effected and that a recall has been issued, but it has not been officially issued. We need a new transmission and should not have to pay for it on a truck that is so new and serviced timely.

15 Wheel problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/30/2024

Transmission sometimes does not change out correctly, when I show down it shifts really hard, and and now the rear wheels are locking up which increase the likelihood of an accident.

The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 10 mph. And coming to a stop light, inadvertently the front driver side wheel detached from the vehicle, which led her to collide with a vehicle that was parked on the right side. 18 Wheel problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 03/20/2024

I purchased a used 2021 Chevrolet silverado from a dealership 5 months ago. Almost immediately after purchasing the truck, I would hear and feel an intermittent pop that originated from near the floor of the front passenger side. The sound became more frequent and would happen mostly when making sharp turns but also when making softer turns. I took it to the dealership to investigate. They had it for a week and supposedly examined the entire vehicle. They were able to replicate the pop sound when driving it but were unable to diagnose the problem. They claimed that sometimes trucks just make noise and assured me that the vehicle was safe to drive. I asked how they knew it was safe if they didn't know what the problem was and how was I to know that whatever is causing the sound isn't causing internal damage. The service manager again assured me that the certified mechanics looked at every detail of the vehicle and found nothing to be concerned about and sent me on my way. After taking the truck home, I continued normal use of the truck, taking it on 3 long distance trips on the highway. The sound continued as it had before, occurring intermittently when turning. 2 days ago, I was backing out of my driveway. I heard a very loud pop and got out of the vehicle to find that the front passenger wheel had completely broken at the ball joint of the control arm and was lying nearly flat on the ground, held suspended by the brake line and cv boot and other attached components. The truck was towed to the dealership, where it currently is. The service manager told me that the mechanics did everything that they were supposed to have done and that unfortunately this is a mechanical part that can fail and that he has seen this issue in 7-8 other vehicles like mine. If this is a common problem, there should have been a red flag when presented with this issue. If this would have occurred on the highway at a high rate of speed, my family and I could have been killed.

19 Wheel problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/26/2024

While driving the right front factory steel wheel rusted out to the point where the wheel center separated from the outer part of the rim on 4 of the 5 spokes, this caused a dangerous wobble to occur and if the vehicle wasn't being driven in the city I believe this would have resulted in a crash since the wheel was only being held on by 1 of the 5 spokes. Due to the design of these chrome clad wheels you can't see the corrosion that is occuring behind the chrome cladding. I put a spare tire on the vehicle and have since parked it until such time as I can replace all 4 of the wheels since I don't believe this vehicle is safe to be driven at this time. The chrome cladding was thrown off the right front wheel when this occured.

20 Wheel problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/25/2023

The keyless entry receiver(gm) radio module in my 2007 chevy silverado is retaining moisture. It caused my tire pressure monitoring system to fail eventually causing a blow out on the highway. I believe moisture from the third headlight above rear window is allowing moisture to drip into the keyless entry receiver. There are many accounts of this failing, I’m not sure why this has not been recalled. I nearly died.

25 Wheel problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/03/2023

The exterior of the wheel well separated from the interior cylinder of the wheel well. The issue appears that the wheel well (usually one piece) has cracked/separated into two pieces, likely due to rust. The car was parked at a store and made a loud popping sound, which could be heard from inside the store. The popping sound came from the loud separation of these pieces as shown in the attached images. This separation was powerful enough to bend and distort the entire exterior of the wheel/hub cap. The vehicle required a tow. This issue could have been a lot worse if the car was driving while the incident occurred. Upon inspection, the other wheel wells are likely to have the same thing occur due to similar appearance. For further details please see file number 529550.

27 Wheel problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/29/2023

While driving down the interstate hi-way, I heard a pop and my truck started to swerve into the adjoining lane. I turned the steering wheel in the opposite direction and the truck started making a rubbing sound and very hard to steer. I finally got it to the side of the hi-way and seen my passenger side front wheel leaning in. The upper balljoint/control arm broke. Luckily no-one was in the lane next to me or it would have caused a serious crash.

30 Wheel problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 04/03/2023

Spare tire and owner's manual provides conflicting, dangerous, and incomplete information. Numerous times the owner's manual warns of numerous dangers about mixing wheel and tire sizes. Yet this truck is equipped with four 275/60 r 20's (20 inch rim) and the spare is 255/80 r 17 (on a 17 inch rim). There is no "t" label on spare. The spare (maxxim) is labeled in black "temporary use only" but no information can be found as to what this means. The owner's manual says that this spare (even though a different wheel size and tire size) can be driven up to 70mph (55 towing) for unlimited time/distance (time and distance is unspecified). The owner's manual does not clearly say that this a "full size spare" or what constitutes a "full size spare. " this conflicts with the manual's numerous warnings of numerous dangers of driving with mismatched wheels/tires. The dealership was no help.

31 Wheel problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 02/13/2023

There is a current recall on this type of vehicle because the spare tire is not the correct size for the vehicle. This is recall #n212346510. Unfortunately, my specific vehicle is not included in that recall for some unknown reason. I experienced a flat tire, road service came and replaced with the spare which is too small for the vehicle, and I was only able to travel to a tire dealership in order to have the original tire repaired and placed back on the vehicle. I still have the wrong size spare even though there is an open recall for this problem. The dealership will not replace the spare without manufacturer recall one my specific vehicle VIN and/or direction to complete the exchange from the manufacturer. Evidently, only a certain percentage of the effected vehicles were recalled. That hardly seems safe. This problem can lead to issues with the brake system if a car uses the wrong size spare. How do I get my specific vehicle added to this recall in order to have the needed service? please advise. Thank you.
