My 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd lt (new vehicle, low mileage) has a persistent water intrusion/leak into the cab interior. Water appears at the top of the headliner/ceiling, specifically around the overhead console where the homelink garage door opener buttons and map lights are located. This occurs after rain events, heavy precipitation, and results in visible wetness, dripping, and staining on the headliner fabric in the front overhead area. The leak is repeatable under wet conditions. It strongly suggests entry through the roof-mounted shark fin antenna (onstar/xm/gps antenna) seal or possibly the windshield-to-roof junction, as water migrates forward along the headliner to the overhead console area. This is a known issue pattern in prior gm trucks (e. G. , 2014–2019 models with tsbs for shark fin antenna leaks causing headliner/overhead console drips), though not yet documented as widespread on the 2025 hd models. I took the vehicle to an authorized Chevrolet dealer for diagnosis and repair under warranty. The dealer performed an inspection but stated they could not replicate the leak during their test and therefore declined to perform any repairs, noting “unable to duplicate” on the repair order. Despite the waterline in the headliner and explaining the conditions (e. G. , after heavy rain), no further action was taken. The issue continues to recur.

It is a very well known issue with these make and model trucks, ( 19-current silverado 1500,2500,3500) that the eurethane on the back glass and the back glass track/frame cracks and leaks water causing an unsafe environment inside the vehicle if not caught. There is little to no visible evidence this occurs unless you really look and or take apart the headliner and rear spoiler on the cab to search for this issue. Water intrusion into the cab of the vehicle can build mold / mildew and cause a severe health issue for occupants inside the vehicle. Gm has a TSB out on this issue and I believe it should be a recall as there are thousands of trucks out there with this issue risking a respiratory issue to those inside the vehicle.
The hood latch broke off mid drive on the freeway and my hood came up and then slammed down, came up again and went flying across the freeway.

The tailgate releases on its own multiple times a day. Once it’s down, you can hear it attempt to do it again and the lights flash. It drained the battery also.

The tailgate opens by randomly. I was in a cvs parking lot walking towards my car and saw the tailgate open without any commands. A young kid running towards his mother's car was just able to avoid running into it and getting 'clotheslined'. Another vehicle found it necessary to drive around the tailgate protruding from the parking spot. I have been finding the tailgate down multiple times, and thought I may have left it open even when I was sure I didn't. I also shut my tailgate recently and noticed I have a large dent in the tailgate itself when I closed it. It may have opened on another vehicle, or it was open when I was backing up assuming it was closed. After reading online I came across many owners having the exact same problems with the exact same truck. Gm has told me the problem is VIN specific, and my VIN was not listed; therefore, no recall notice ever sent out to me.

Tailgate is opening unexpectedly as I drive down the road and parked.
I was driving to an event and I noticed my truck was pulling slightly. As I pulled onto the freeway and accelerated, I felt and heard a thumping sound but could not distinguish it between the pattern in the freeway or an issue with a tire. I continued to accelerate and the tire blew at about 55 mph. I was pulling a 5th wheel in a construction zone and was not immediately able to safely pull off the roadway. Extensive damage was done to the body of the truck with a current estimate at $4,832. 18. The rim and tire were also destroyed with the rim being valued at $841. 08 and tire at $408.
Have had issues since purchase of paint chipping severely / cloudy. Transmission shudder and “jumped forward” when coming to a stop. Lighting system “blinked” or went dark and come back up a few seconds later while driving.
Rear window leaking. There is mold inside vehicle.

Rear spoiler is leaking water into the cab causing the headliner and rear seat to get wet when raining outside.
After a rain storm the tailgate started malfunctioning. Now it does it all the time even on pure sunny days. It will go up and down randomly without anyone touching a button. It does it so much it drained both batteries, which left the truck inoperable. The dealer said it’s not under the recall that’s out for other trucks and to just bring it up for repair.
Tailgate. Yes it can be inspected. It opens and closes randomly , I was going on to the freeway for work when I suddenly received a notice that the tailgate was opening. When I pulled over the gate was open and all the contents were at the end of the truck bed, power saws and equipment almost flew out into traffic! I then called the dealer who told me there was a recall and to bring it in, so I did and when I pulled in the service department the tailgate opened upon entering service area. After about 20 minutes he tells me that mine is not covered. Warranty ran out! and not on that VIN#. The tailgate now opens and closes randomly at all different times. Try to close and it just keeps opening and closing. Have to go out and close manually.
Tale gate opens and closes by itself. Keeps saying tale gate is open but is closed.
The tailgate, repeatedly came open on the freeway at freeway speeds, towing a trailer, the tailgate came down on top of the trailer mechanism causing damage to the tail gate as well as the tailgate trim. There was no way to secure tailgate and keep it from opening intermittently. Once I could I took it to the dealership and they acknowledged that the switch was malfunctioning as witnessed by a cell phone video that I took of it malfunctioning and attempting to unlock and open while parked. The dealership acknowledged that there was a recall to be issued and for the time being cut the wire to allow the tailgate to be opened by the hand switch and is only able to open by the remote.
Water leaking in around rear window causing moldy smell, puddled water on rear floor, saturated carpet. Believe to be health hazard because my eyes & nose burn when I’m in the vehicle. Have not had any inspection of this problem because the warranty had run out before I discovered. This is a known problem to gm on numerous trucks as I learned after researching. Truck has very low mileage, less than 15000. Very disappointed.
Back window leaked. It was a heavy mist all night, not even heavy rain yet, and when we opened the passenger back door in the morning around 7:30 am, we found a pool of water on the back seat and water running down the seat. When I checked the forums, there is an abundance of complaints about the back windows leaking in chevy trucks for many years now.
Rear window frame is leaking during rain or heavy dew. Causing saturated headliner, seats and carpet. Mold could develop and become a health factor. My 2 kids always ride in the back seat. This is a known issue for gm and are not taking action to correct this problem. Vehicle started leaking with 25,000 miles.
Frame is rotten badly but cab and bed hardly any rust. Used bad metal for frame and crossmembers.

On 09/30/2020, I purchase a used 2017 Chevrolet 2500hd work truck. Since the day I started driving, I been replacing tires every 2-3 months. I was told by different people, it’s normal because of weight. I took the truck to, suspension specialist, he said it was axle and wanted to charge 4000, didn’t have that money and decided to change tires, instead. I called dealer and explain, he said that maybe I cause it. This people are no help. Today, 11/18/2021- 5:18 pm, the center of the truck, between cab and rear bed, is sunken, it looks like the body frame got bent. It’s bad. I call dealer and spoke to mr. Arbi, he said there’s nothing he can do and it’s my problem. I’m not going to start arguing and just told him thank you and decide to report him. When I bought it, I was told it was on a minor accident, nothing major. I don’t think so. I’m no expert, and I can see the body frame, bent. This dealer got me upset, just thinking that I’m stuck with this problem, and now I need to figure out how to fix, is the body frame. Please, help me, advise, what can I do, since I finance this truck. I, can’t drive it, I need to tow. I wish I can send picture. Thank you, any information will be appreciated. Miles when I bought, approx. 75000+. Miles today 11/18/2021. 143764.

My battery was dead this morning, so I jump started my truck. I let it run stationary for 10 minutes and the battery exploded. It sounded like a bomb went off. It blew the battery into pieces, electronics and the coolant resivoir. It sprayed battery acid, coolant everywhere. My ears were ringing as I was 10 feet from it. It also dented the fender on my truck. I contacted the local chevy dealership and was blown off, was told I would be called back but was not. They said they had no information on problems with those batteries and said they couldn't get a resivoir for 3 days. We are traveling and stopped here in lebanon TN for the weekend. I have many more pictures, but they are too large to add.

The cab is leaking rain water in the back driver side corner of the cab! I just noticed it while we were driving in the rain. It looks like it has occurred twice before because of stains.
While driving on a city street I smelled something burning I heard a sizzling sound and looked in the back and smoke was rolling from behind my passenger back seat. I realized it was coming from the wire connection for rear defroster. The smoke stopped after about 10 seconds so I continued down the road and after about 30 seconds a load boom occurred and the passenger rear section of my electric sliding window with defrost exploded. I took it to the dealer and they said it wasn't covered by warranty or recall. This is being recalled in canada on the same trucks but not u. S. Trucks.

My silverado was originally sold and registered in canada. It was exported to the us and I purchased it in July 2019. Recently my rear window defogger has failed to function and I found that canada had recall for this reason and I'm very concerned about possible fire or exploding glass on my truck. Good morning mr. Hunt, thank you for contacting transport canada's recalls division. In reviewing the recall and discussing the matter with general motors canada, they have clarified that recall n192220470 does involve 2015-2019 model year silverado hd models. In reviewing the provided vehicle indentification number, it appears as though this vehicle no longer resides in canada. Registration history shows that it was previously exported out of the country prior to this recall being issued. This is the reasoning why your VIN number is not included within this recall. Gm's n192220470 recall (transport canada recall #2019-325) was issued in June 2019, and only applies to vehicles that are registered and operated in canada. Due to environmental climate and failure rates, this recall is exclusive to canada, and was not issued in the united states. However, to address vehicles that are operated and registered in similar climates, cold states in the united states, general motors USA issued a voluntary region specific customer satisfaction program (n192265660). To find out if your vehicle is applicable to this customer satisfaction program, you would have to call general motors USA with your VIN number. Furthermore, if you are experiencing a similar failure, and feel your safety is at risk, we would recommend contacting and logging a complaint with our united states counterparts, sincerely, recalls division / multi-modal and road safety programs transport canada / government of canada.

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, I was attempting to exit my vehicle when I pulled the door handle only to have it break off in my hand. I went to reach to see if there was anything left to pull to open the door only to find the handle had broken off cleanly from the mechanism, leaving no other way to exit the vehicle other than rolling down the window and opening the door from the outside through the window or by sliding all the way across the vehicle to exit through the passenger side of the vehicle. Immediately I thought that if this had been an emergency, such as a fire or wreck, I would probably not be able to exit the vehicle in a safe and timely manner, risking further injury or death. I called my local Chevrolet dealership to inquire about a replacement handle & mechanism, only to be told that this is a common and systemic problem with most gm vehicles. I view this as a safety concern more than just a normal maintenance or repair issue, similar to the safety concern of a commercial aircraft's door not opening in case of an emergency exit during an accident. Gm, Ford, Dodge, and all automobile makers should ensure that a common or systemic problem with a safety item, such as an exit door, should be corrected to avoid dangerous conditions. Thank you.

The vehicle had a handicapped driver conversion, with a gull-wing driver's door. The driver's door was only held closed with a magnet at the front of the door opening. There was not a latch to actually hold the door closed. In the accident, the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed on a gravel road. The roadway sharply descended to a low-water bridge, which caused the truck to elevate and leave the roadway. When the truck returned to the road, the magnet holding the driver's door failed, the driver's door popped open, and the driver was ejected 80 feet. The driver is now quadriplegic, suffering a c6-7 spinal cord injury, and a traumatic brain injury. The photo files illustrate that the driver's door was ripped off because it was opened, and the passenger doors were locked completely shut.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. While driving, the driver's side visor started leaking water inside the vehicle. The contact was concerned that the leak could short out the electrical components on the driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to haselwood Chevrolet Buick GMC (501 w hills blvd, bremerton, wa 98312, (360) 616-3272) where it was diagnosed that the xm satellite radio antenna seal failed, but the warranty was expired. The failure was considered water damage and was not covered. The dealer stated that there were many similar failures with other gm vehicles and many dealers were running out of parts. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall or warranty coverage; therefore, they would not pay for the repair cost. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Feb 5th 2019 my truck was parked in my driveway and the blockheater eas plugged into my electrical outlet on my garage and at 1:00 a. M. I was awakened to a loud explosion. When I finally figured out the cause my truck and garage were on fire. 3 months later found out gm had recalled almost 400,000 trucks my same year, make and model due to engineblock heater cords shorting out apparently. I have yet to receive a notice on my truck. The accident was a total loss and there was damage done to my garage. ## VIN passed ## chevy Silverado 2500 hd 2017 ##.
See NHTSA id number 10126955 manufacturer communication number pit5341c there is no way to turn off the auto door locks feature. 5 adults were on a ski trip, 4 entered the vehicle and one was delayed. Neither driver or other occupants noticed 1 was missing and and departed. The one passenger was locked out of the vehicle and hanging on to the door handle as the vehicle was driven out of the parking lot! after this event, I wish the door would have opened and the passenger could have jumped in. The driver would have noticed and let the passenger in, no problem. As the ultimately responsible driver, I wish I could have opened / unlocked the door, however the truck locked it automatically (unknown to the driver). Is there an NHTSA regulation that requires doors to lock automatically?.
