Def pump and heater module had burned terminals. This caused failure to the def pump and heater module. This was the second instance of this happening on this truck in roughly 40,000 miles. Burned terminals can start electrical fires that are a danger to occupants and others in the vicinity. Failure of this system forces a drop in speed after so many miles that make you a danger on the road.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

The vehicle was driven to a job site in gowanda NY. The computer indicated it neede to clean the exhaust filter. The truck was parked in an open area on a blacktop parking area. The truck finished a regen approximately 30 minutes later. The vehicle was shut down and left unattended. Approx 30 minutes later, the driver, heard noises, came around a structure and saw the vehicle was on fire. The driver did attempt to use a fire extinguisher to no avail. They then called 911 and the fire department was dispatched. The department put out the fire but the vehicle is a total loss. As this was a work site, the vehicle was towed to our shop and stored inside. The inland marine insurance company hired a fire investigator, and they looked at the vehicle. They determined the fire originated on the lower firewall in the engine compartment. He paused his investigation, to await a representative of gm to be present for destructive analysis to determine exact cause. The gm case number is xxx. This vehicle had errored multiple times and did regen every 2-300 miles. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The engine oil cooler failed causing engine oil to leak into the coolant system on my 2024 chevy Silverado 3500hd. This requires a full replacement of the coolant system. In addition, excessive sludge buildup inside the motor is caused. This is a known issue with gm for 2024 diesel vehicles. Gm has released a service bulletin but is fighting my local dealership on the required repairs.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 10/28/2025

There is a common and very dangerous electrical wire routing problem on my vehicle, along with 3 dozen others and my dads (separate but same truck) I confirmed with (fb group for owners of 17-19 l5p GMC diesel trucks) where the alternator positive wire from the alternator to the battery is run right along and across a rather sharp part of molding from the air intake tube. This routing location and rough intake plastic molding rubs through the alternator wire creating a possible electrical short/ corrosion problems that can lead to battery and electrical system compromise, as well as fire risk! a short-circuit condition can cause damage to engine components and, in rare cases, start a fire in the engine compartment. I have 92,000 miles on this 2019, my father has the problem starting on his at only 40,000 miles and may others have issues as well to very degrees of severity between 25 and 150k miles. I discovered this issue while performing routine air filter maintenance and happened to see the rub damage. No modifications have been done, this is the way the wire is routed from the factory. Imo and estimations this issue far supercedes the danger and severity of the recall that currently exists for the engine block heater cord for these models of trucks. 2 of the photos show the damage and exposed wire as soon as I found it. The last shows the location and the part that caused the rub damage along with a temporary mitigation method: electrical tape with a rubber hose installed as a buffer until a permanent fix can be installed.

>exhaust fumes are returned back in to the cab of the truck. >exhaust fumes, particularly from diesel engines, are highly dangerous, containing carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and fine particles that can cause severe respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Short-term exposure leads to dizziness, headaches, and nausea, while long-term exposure can be fatal or cause lasting lung damage. >truck was taken to dealer and verified by service to be an issue. I have attached the paperwork from that appointment. >the truck was fixed by the dealer and retuned with no initial exhaust smell. The exhaust fumes have began to enter the cab of the truck again. We have contacted a new dealership service department to have the truck inspected they have given us an appointment in a week from today.

Failure Date: 03/28/2025

The 2023 chevy high country diesel vehicle for 89,000 has failed tremendously, without any warning whatsoever. I've had my vehicle serviced on a 6 to 8 weeks bases at the dealership. On March 28, 2025 I was driving in sd and the truck just failed all the suddenly. The information stated to shift to neutral and restart which I did. The truck never started and had to be towed. The first diagnosis was the high pressure fuel pump which contaminated the entire fuel systems with metal shavings. Thereby, the cp4 failed and damage all components of the fuel system costing 11,750. 00 for the repair. In addition to this, during further inspecting the shop informed me the engine camshaft and lifter were also an issued and contributed to the dilemma. I then got general motors involved informing them that now way possible this should have transpired with a new truck having only 126,000 miles. I stated this is nothing for a diesel engine and something was not adding up. At the time I wasn't aware of all the issue general motors were having with the trucks and suvs. I told them that no way can I pay 31,000. 00 for a repairs on a new practically new truck I purchased brand new. They need to honor these problematic vehicles.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 03/05/2025

We bought a Chevrolet silverado from 2023 as a new car in October 2024. It is an imported vehicle, as we live in germany. After 7146km we broke down on the highway on [xxx] with engine damage. There were no signs or warnings beforehand. The Chevrolet simply stalled while driving and indicated that the start/stop button should be pressed. However, this had no effect. The whole vehicle came to a standstill. Not even the wheels were still rolling. A call to the seller (geigercars in munich/germany) immediately revealed that it was probably engine damage, as the problem is known. The vehicle was then towed to the seller's workshop and has now been there for over 5 weeks without spare parts, as according to the seller these are not supplied by gm. We have not yet received a rental car or anything similar and have to rent a car every week at our own expense. We have not received any help so far. A lawyer has already been called in. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My 2021 chevy Silverado 3500 [xxx] motor began requiring a quart of oil every 3-4 weeks. I took my vehicle to a gm dealer in October 2024 and the stated the couldn't find any issues. Fast forward to December 2024 my motor began reading low compression and saying stop the vehicle. I took the vehicle back and pressured them to find out whats wrong with the truck as I only have 76,000 miles and I have performed all of the necessary maintenance. I even have a Chevrolet platinum protection plan for warranty coverage. I have gotten the run around for months and I have yet to get my vehicle repaired. After taking my truck to a certified 3rd party the verified that the lifters failed and the motor would likely need to be replaced or rebuilt. The mechanics reported this information to the Chevrolet warranty company and the stated the refuse to provide and repairs unless I produce oil change receipts or return the vehicle back to a dealership and pay for the dealer to tear the motor down. Please please please help me sincerely [xxx] general motors [xxx] 2021 3500 hd wt 4x4 case # 9-xxx [xxx] I have a 2021 chevy 3500 lt (dually) been having issues with a rough idle so I figured to replace the plugs, coil packs and wires as my truck just hit 70,000 miles. After doing the full tune up nothing changed, so I scheduled an appointment with my local chevy dealership. They kept my truck for about a week and never completed the diagnosis. I picked the truck back up and took it to another chevy dealer and the told me after a week or so that I had lifter issues and the truck would probably need a new motor. The truck seemed a little sketchy from the gate in the first 50k miles it consumed oil like it was a ol 250k mile chevy. . . . The alternator went out at around 50k miles and the fuel efficiency would be 6-8 mpg at best. . . . . Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Vehicle regularly stalls while driving, going down hills and any random time at highway speeds, while in traffic, while stopped at traffic controls. This problem happens repeatedly and is apparently related to the “pump mounted driver”, which is prone to failure due to inadequate design for the use and environment. Probable high pressure fuel pump (cp4) failure resulting in the vehicle stalling without warning. This event has not yet occurred, however due to the high number of vehicles involved in the stellantis recall which are using the same cp4 pumps which are known to fail, I am scared to drive my truck as the cp4 pump may fail at any time. I have spoken to many other gm truck owners who have experienced this failure and it has cost them tens of thousands of dollars. Failure Date: 06/29/2022

Our diesel fuel pump failed unexpectedly and without any notice while pulling a fifth wheel camper on a state highway in ohio. The engine stopped completely (we were coasting within seconds). We were in a one-lane construction zone, and had it not been for a paved median, I would have been unable to pull off in this construction zone. Fortunately, I had enough momentum to get off the road and was able to exert enough pressure on the brakes manually to stop. In reading about this issue, it is clear that there are known problems with this fuel pump. My cost to repair this defective part will be about $11,500 and will require a 12 hour round trip back to ohio to pick-up the vehicle after a two-week repair.
