43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

Cp4 high pressure fuel pump failed causing loss of motive power (lomp) in oct of 2018. Truck became hard to steer and brake but I was traveling at a lower speed. Had it of been 1 hour later I would have been at freeway speeds pulling a 13000lbs trailer. I had the truck towed to a local dealer where they diagnosed the truck as having a failed cp4 high pressure fuel pump made by bosch. They informed me that the entire fuel system would have to be replaced do to the large amount of metal contaminants that this catastrophic failure produces and spreads though out the entire system. The total cost for the repairs were not covered under any type of warranty or recall and had to be paid entirely out of pocket. Not only was this a huge inconvenience as I was trying to leave town for a vacation it was very very expensive. I still can not understand why there has never been a recall on this issue. I think it can be related to a safety issue as a lomp. I believe gm knew that the cp4 pump was and could be a faulty product but continued to use it.

Dash readout: engine power reduced, vehicle went dead. This has happened at least 15 times in the last 30 days. Usually while driving down the road but will also do this parked and idle. Vehicle loses steering capabilities and comes to a stop. This has occured in several different scenarios, including heavy high speed traffic, pulling a loaded trailer, making it very dangerous because of losing stopping capabilities.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 05/14/2015

Traveling at 60 mph while towing a 35' fifth wheel the engine started to shudder a bit. When we pulled over and put the engine into neutral the engine stopped running. We tried to start the truck but it would not turn over but there was juice to the battery to run the lights and windows. After being towed to a local garage, as we were out of state, then to another in our town we were informed it is a bad crankshaft and a new engine is needed. The engine has 55 thousand miles on it with no modifications. After many searches on the internet I have found many cases where this has occurred. I have contacted chevy and their response is it is out of the warranty period, five years even though it is well under the 100,000 mile cap. This needs to be addressed as it could have caused a major accident had we not been in the right lane and been able to pull over before losing complete power on a major highway.

51 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

The vehicle's engine compartment caught on fire following going through a car wash. I stopped after pulling across the street and noticed false fault indications on the display, followed by smoke blowing from the heater vents. I pulled into a parking space, raised the hood, and saw flames coming from the left rear of the engine compartment as you face the vehicle. I borrowed a fire extinguisher from a store and put the fire out. I have received little information from gm in 2 1/2 months and nothing indicates to me they have taken this engine compartment fire seriously. Had this occurred at speed, in traffic, etc. It would have created a very dangerous situation not only for myself but others in the area.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 03/24/2009

The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle constantly shuts off. Sometimes it will restart immediately, but other times it takes longer to restart. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall due to the excessive mileage. The failure mileage was 74,000.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 09/27/2006

Gm had a injector problem (recall ) in 2006. They replaced mine on sept,27 2006. On may 21 20013 I had the same problem in which gm conveys they can't fix it again. The mileage on may, 21 was 84362, just about how long the others lasted. I was told from my local gm dealer that they are several other owners with this same problem (thousands). I just wated to pass my grief along to let someone else know how you are treated by one of the companies that we bailed out with our monies.

Failure Date: 09/01/2006

2006 duramax lbz. From new truck intermittently has code p003a - turbocharger boost control position not learned, p0087 low fuel pressure and change fuel filter display on dash. Truck is totally stock. First couple of times when at dealer they would do diagnostics and change fuel filter saying that was it and they would reset all codes. No drivability issues when this happened. Recently (August 5, 2014) while traveling pulling a trailer truck went into derate/limp mode (first time) all codes returned. Took to dealer, changed fuel filter and reset codes now it is happening about weekly October 1, 2014 took to dealer reset codes did not change filter as it was just done and they did not find anything wrong with fuel. (miles 94000) dealership said everything checks normal and Chevrolet does not show and bulletins for this issue.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 03/24/2006

We have a 2001 Silverado 3500 that shut down in the middle of baltimore traffic back in 2006. We had to have it towed and paid $644. 33 to have it fixed. It was the crank position sensor. We came to find out that there was a recall on this in some of the 2001's. But guess what, ours is no on the list! I asked the lady "so who determines which of these model vins get to be on the recall and which ones will the consumer have to pay for. Of course she responded that she was sorry for our inconvenience, but she could not help. Is there any way to have our truck on the recall too and get a reimbursement? we truly love our truck and it has to go in for the ubs brake system too, but we found out it is not covered under that recall either. What gives? we are the ones with these two problems, but our doesn't count? please help.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Failure Date: 03/21/2005

In January 2004, I bought a new chevy 3500 duramax diesel truck. Since March 2005, I have had to have the injectors replaced a total of 6 times. Now at 202,000 the injectors need replaced again. Chevy will not help out on this problem. I have read that everyone should file a complaint with this department so that this can be investigated. In November 2011, someone was told there were not complaints. Being a chevy owner with these injector problems, I am writing to complain. Hopefully, this department will conduct the investigation and help all the other people with this problem get a response from chevy to do something. These trucks are not cheap and just because we use our trucks and put miles on them, and they have repeated failures, we should not have to bear the burden. This problem with my truck is in the design. How many people replace injectors every 30-40k miles? this is what I have had to do over the last 7 years.
