Cp4 high pressure fuel pump failed causing loss of motive power (lomp) in oct of 2018. Truck became hard to steer and brake but I was traveling at a lower speed. Had it of been 1 hour later I would have been at freeway speeds pulling a 13000lbs trailer. I had the truck towed to a local dealer where they diagnosed the truck as having a failed cp4 high pressure fuel pump made by bosch. They informed me that the entire fuel system would have to be replaced do to the large amount of metal contaminants that this catastrophic failure produces and spreads though out the entire system. The total cost for the repairs were not covered under any type of warranty or recall and had to be paid entirely out of pocket. Not only was this a huge inconvenience as I was trying to leave town for a vacation it was very very expensive. I still can not understand why there has never been a recall on this issue. I think it can be related to a safety issue as a lomp. I believe gm knew that the cp4 pump was and could be a faulty product but continued to use it.

Information regarding this known issue by gm below (known issue since 2017). #pip5480: hesitation, bump or chuggle involved region or country: north America additional rpo/s: 6. 6 l5p condition: customer concern may be of a hesitation, bump, chuggle, jerk or a feeling of harshness under the following conditions:  1. Vehicle speed in the range of 25-45 mph.  2. Light accelerator pedal tip-in or tip-out maneuver.  3. Transmission in 3rd gear. Cause under investigation. The return line from the transmission cooler is rubbing on the bumper mount bracket. My vehicle has just over 9000 miles on it and the cover around the line is already worn through. The way the line is mounted offers no flexibility to push it away from the bumper bracket. This will eventually lead to a failure of the return line on the transmission cooler. I was informed of this issue by a post on a public forum. The person that posted this issue had a failure of the return line in the same spot due to the same issue.

Diesel exhaust filter (def) and flow reduction tube on duramax lml engine. Fautly def requires extremely high temperatures to clean - or regenerate - causing the def and reduction tube to fail. High temperatures are a fire hazard to vehicle and grass or other terrain over which the truck is parked. Gm no longer manufactures the reduction tube, gm part number 25960609 forcing the consumer to wait for gm to make part on special order basis - over 30 days - or force consumer to remove def or make other fabrication, order to operate the vehicle. Gm is aware via customer service and dealer complaints that the lack of part 25960609 availability is a nation-wide problem and has a high failure rate. Gm stopped production as a cost saving measure. The duramax lml engine is in service mostly as commercial vehicle fleet. Thus, there is a high probability of unsafe fabrication in order to restore vehicle operation.
The truck is a 2016 Chevrolet 3500 hd diesel, when the truck goes into regeneration mode the truck accelerates without notice. It doesn't matter if it's in park, reverse, neutral or drive, the rpm of the engine speeds up to about 900 rpm. In a forward motion it will speed up from 6 mph to 10 mph in drive without notice. In reverse it will speed up to 5 mph without notice. If you are at a stop light and it goes into regeneration mode it will almost push through the brake, inadvertently catching you off guard and having to push on the brake with even more pressure. I've taken the truck to the dealer and was told twice that it's a characteristic of the computer and can not be changed.

My truck was parked in my driveway on a slight downgrade. I had just parked it and was unlocking my front door when I turned around and witnessed it rolling backwards down the driveway towards the street. I managed to run back and get in a stop it with the emergency brake. The vehicle was now at least 30 feet from where I had parked it and would have continued farther had I not stopped it. After this I parked it several more times in the same spot and it continued to roll backwards while in park. I then took the vehicle to my dealership and explained the issue and showed them a video of me testing it. They later informed me that it was a known programming issue and they reprogrammed the transmission and it should work now. The transmission can come out of park even when not running. When I asked why I was not informed of such a recall the informed me that it was not an issue they were calling customers about rather they were just fixing vehicles as they came in reporting the issue. I live 3 blocks from a middle school and at the time of the incident there is often children walking down my street. The vehicle could have easily seriously injured or killed someone yet chevy did not consider this a large enough safety concern to inform owners of these vehicles.

We have had repeated instances, where engine light comes on, and fuel guage flat lines. If you can not get to a qualified dealer soon enough, vehicle shuts down without warning[actually it remains running until it almost comes to a complete stop]. We have had to instances of shut down, and at least 6 instances altogether of engine light/ fuel guage flat line. This has all happened since vehicle was put in service in January / 2016. We use this vehicle to travel across the lower 48, and parts of canada, to pick up breeding bulls, that have values ranging as high as 1 million or more. These animals have all been tested for transport back to our facilities in plain city, OH, and once on the trailer, are not to be removed, unless it is an absolute emergency, because of regulations. Our concern is that, what happens if this vehicle is going up a mountain hwy or any other situation where there is another vehicle following to closely and they hit us and end up killing the animals, me, the person that hit me, or all of us over a fuel transfer pump that gm says is not part of it's powertrain warranty or no longer in it's bumper to bumper warranty. Their line is, that the vehicle is currently repaired, and functioning properly, therefore there is no issue or any reason to keep a case file # on it. We have learned thru other instances, that there is a dealer service bulliten for the same problem we have been experiencing, and supposedly they are trying to find a solution, which has yet to come to light. All instances on this matter have happened in various states across the country, while cruising at speeds between 65 & 70 mph on interstate hwy to this date, with the last instance being on 12/01/2016. We have expressed concerns to gm of safety, and an actual fix for this issue, and so far the best we get from them is, we're sorry for your inconvenience.
2012 Silverado 3500hd with dealer installed dejana rugby dump body the dump body hoist makes contact with the electronic trailer brake/body control module eventually cracking open or damaging the top of the module and allowing moisture/water inside damaging the module. This causes a no start condition and or erratic gauges, door locks, abs & brake lights to come on, drivability issues truck can go into a limp mode with no shifting etc. Test equipment shows no communication to ecm errors and drivetrain- problem will occur while driving. When the trailer brake control module is unplugged all symptoms will go away and truck will function normal. This problem started with a service trailer brake warning from the vehicle information center in the dash.
