Engine Shut Off Without Warning Problems of Chevrolet Sonic

While driving my car "gliches" the lights go on and off, the power steering stops the locks go up and down and all electronics in the dashboard go on and off. Last week, it shut down in the middle of the road and I could not start it for about 5 minutes or so. Got it home and it did it again the next day while it was parked. This started years ago. Brought it to dealer they said "well it's not doing it now". I was not educated at the time to push for anything to be done. The stopping completely while driving that happened last week.

My chevy Sonic stalls while driving it. The engine shuts down, door locks cycle, lights go on and off, power steering and brakes go out, rpms drop, and until today, it turns back on, the rpms jump sky high, and the motor revs back to life and it goes fine again for awhile. But today it stalled sitting in mcdonalds parking lot and not only didn't start again, but had to be jumped. I can only imagine what would have happened if my granddaughter and I had her in heavy traffic when that happened! every other time it's been going down the road. One time I was in traffic and it almost caused an accident. It happens almost every day. Especially if I'm running the air conditioner. It happens at all speeds. I have taken it to 3 mechanics and it doesn't �throw any codes�. It did show a little issue with the alternator so we replaced it but it didn't charge anything. I've done some research and this is a common issue with several years of chevy Sonic cars. Unfortunately our outcry is going nowhere. Gm seems determined to ignore us until someone dies and they get sued. Can you please get them to recall the engine or whatever it is that's causing this issue? please?!!! thank you!.

Twice in one month the car engine shut off while I was driving. Power steering was also lost. Mileage approx. 31,000. I was able to restart the car after putting it in park. The first time, I was turning, pulling into a parking lot, so I was able to drift into a parking spot safely. Second time I was in small town bumper to bumper traffic. Took my foot off the brake and stepped on the gas and nothing happened, so I put it in park and restarted it and it seemed fine after that. Took it to dealer where I bought it, they did nothing as the car was not throwing any codes and no warning lights were on. Second garage I went to also could not find an issue so they did nothing. Took it to another dealership and the car stalled on them as they were parking it, right after I had dropped it off. They kept it for almost a week and drove it 61 miles and could not recreate the stalling. They checked the car thoroughly and nothing appeared to be wrong with it. They checked all recalls and bulletins, nothing mentioned in those. The car would also "bounce" up and down when I was stopped at a red light. That was happening more frequently once the engine troubles started. I got my car back last night from the other dealer and didn't notice any "bouncing" so maybe they fixed something when they were checking the car, however the invoice stated all they did was a 27-point inspection and alignment check. No charge to me as car is still under warranty but warranty runs out in 5 months.

I was driving my 2012 Chevrolet Sonic commuting my grandchild to pre-k,pulling out from stop sign onto straightaway street crossing in front of distant oncoming traffic,and my car stalled,very scary as could have been very bad wreck with my grandchild being hurt as myself! fortunately I let coast to side of street as I was only going 10 miles or less an hour when it shut off! it wouldn't start right off! it finally started after a few seconds,maybe 5 or more went by! this is very disturbing as it risks my life ,plus another also,as he is only 4 years old! I need to know if car is even safe to keep driving!.

As I was driving down a intersection my car was going 50 miles an hour, then it just shut off. It's a 5 speed and it shut off and then started back up. The car was in 5 th gear at the time it was very scary im glad there was no one directly behind me. I've had problems with this car since day 1 there is other problems with it. But the dealers say its normal. They dont know why it did this. But this car is unsafe and to me its a lemon. I'm tired of feeling like a idiot this car has issues.
