1 Radiator problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic

Failure Date: 01/05/2021

1st at 20k miles (2019) my car wouldn't start, stuck late night. Called aaa, battery had dead cell so I purchased one for $200. Months later found out it was covered under the warranty. I started smelling coolant (2019). Dealer said it was the water pump. It was covered under warranty. Started smelling coolant again (2019), it was a valve, wasn't covered. The car wouldn't start, dead cell in the battery again (2020) started smelling coolant (2020), needed a new radiator, wasn't covered under warranty. Started smelling fumes & had a leak. It was the purge solenoid needed replacing, another $500. Two months ago (Nov 2020) the ambient sensor went out $450. Now today (Jan 5, 2021) the airbag light is on and I'm told it's the internal sdm fault and will be close to a $900 repair.

I have found one new leak and one leak that has been there for at least a year. The new leak is the radiator. It is leaking at the top on the driver side right where the plastic and aluminum meet. The other leak is the plastic thermostat housing. Current miles: 69,500.

4 Radiator problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

I have experienced four cooling system (radiator, water pump, engine block coolant intake, coolant expansion tank, engine/turbo coolant piping) related problems with this vehicle amounting to over three thousand dollars in repair costs. Four major repair expenses on the same system is questionable in my opinion, the two most major occurring within the same month. These all were noted during normal operation of the vehicle.

5 Radiator problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic

Failure Date: 04/24/2018

Car is less than 3 years old and the radiator is rusted/corroded. This kind of corrosion should not happen on a car less than 3 years old. I kept smelling something burning when driving on the highway, so I started monitoring the coolant levels. I was adding more than a gallon of coolant each month.

7 Radiator problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. While driving approximately 5 mph, smoke emerged from the engine compartment and a beeping noise started. Also, the temperature control warning indicator illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle and turned off the engine. The contact parked the vehicle on the side of the road and left it there for two days. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that four hoses attached to the radiator failed and the thermostat housing was damaged. In April, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic because it was experiencing a failure with the heater system. It was diagnosed that antifreeze was leaking from the radiator to the engine. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,856.

10 Radiator problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

First issue was electrical issues (bad lights, unfunctioning controls, ac adapter would not give power, outside lightbulbs do not last, headlamp controls fell apart, mirror conrtrols fell off, vent controls fell apart. When electric window control stopps working and hisses and smokes when engine is turned on. I also have been shocked painfully when trying to get the ac adapter to work. Next came repair of the ignition switch. . I could not pass state inspection because my "check engine" light was on. In August 2017, car had engine misfire, which cost me repair on the fuel pump. A few days after that, the battery died and I replaced it. One week later,, it started to smoke under the hood and the car was overheating. Then a few hours later, electric was on and off but power to vechicle stopped. . This ended up being the serp. Main belt. Next came the ignition switch. (novembwr 2017) early 2018. . Ac adapter stopped working again, and it was replaced. A c stopped blowing cold air spring 2018, and within weeks, the window control failing again, I have had heat stroke twice. Window control unit smokes and hisses when I turn on engine. Window also cracked while driving 55mph. Plastic vents cracked outside therm fell off & plastic undercarriage cover ripped b4 aircond, followed by the fan. When I brought car in for airc, I was told I needed new rear brake pads and the radiator fan and compressor. . There is no therm for engine. Fixed only brakes. Car then began to overheat while in traffic. Replaced radiator fan 2 weeks later. . Still need new ac compressor. Window control began to fail again next. First time window conrol failed, battery died same night, and I had to get serp. Belt and new battery. New battery has already had to be jumped 3 times, and seems as though engine misfire is beginning again. Problems going uphill today. . Slow accelleration, unsteady fuel flow.
