I am the owner of a 2016 Spark ev, and the driver was my family member. The vehicle was charged and had a remaining driving range of 51 miles when the vehicle suddenly shut down on a major city road without any prior warning or symptoms of a problem. The vehicle did not restart immediately, and other drivers behind had to push the vehicle to the side of the road. The driver experienced the shutdown of the vehicle while driving again on another day. Since the sudden shutdown of the propulsion power while driving happened without any prior warning light, message, or symptom, the incident could put the safety of the driver and others at risk, especially if the shutdown happened at a higher speed on a highway. Failure of a specific component or system has not been identified, but the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The service department of a Chevrolet dealer initially provided an estimated diagnostic fee of $170, but the service department raised the diagnostic fee by double upon check-in when the vehicle was brought in on the scheduled appointment. I canceled the appointment in frustration.

Car is hesitating alot from a stop and has locked up. Engine light came on. Had it diagnosed and the codes came up transmission control module (tcm). Cant find the part and the ine I did find was 800. It's only 6 years old and should not have transmission problems and be locking up on me.

Unknown—my car’s been doing this thing where it feels like the wheels "stick" for a second every so often while driving, but yesterday it was the worst it's been, doing it every few seconds. I thought maybe my gearshift was stuck between gears or something so I tried to make sure it was in drive, but it slipped into neutral for a second, & after that, my check engine light came on & my car started taking forever to get up to speed after coming to a stop—like, I was flooring it & it was crawling. It started doing this while I was in an intersection turn lane, & my car was moving so slow I had to wait for a protected turn & I still barely made it out of the intersection in time. My code reader said it was a transmission issue & there’s a recall on other Sparks for the transmission. I had my car towed to my apartment but I haven’t been able to find anybody to come inspect or work on it yet. I sent a message to my local chevy dealer so they could check whether it’s under recall, but I haven’t heard back from them yet. Prior to this, there hadn’t been any warning light or indicators.
Car fire in the engine compartment. Columbus fire inspector called it an electrical fire. On July 10 around 1:30 am, owner heard car alarm honking, saw big orange flames rising from the right front wheel well, called 911. Fire extinguished by f. D. Upon arrival. The entire engine compartment burned out, everything not metal burnt away or remains as melted plastic slag on the driveway. Car was last driven 2 days before the fire, so the engine and exhaust were cold. There were no fluid leaks under the hood. Battery was 10 months old. No crash damage. No prior electrical issues. It was a good, reliable, heroic car. Had the car not been honking, owner may have been delayed becoming aware of the fire, leaving it time to spread to the dwelling where it was parked.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Spark. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v257000 (equipment, electrical system) and would like to be removed from the recall distribution list. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted.
Transmission needs to be replaced per mechanic, costing around $3,5000-$5,000 jerking or shuddering during the normal course of driving hesitations while attempting to accelerate from a stopped position engine stalls out or intermittently shutting off rough start or hard shift and sudden acceleration hesitations while attempting to accelerate from a stopped position.

There are many electrical failures in this vehicle from the door alarm not sounding when the car has been turned off to the radio staying on and burning down the battery and the radio making changes to the stations volume, volume freezes and lowers or is totally unresponsive while the driver is driving, this is a major distracting. Also overhead light is unresponsive and flickers when it wants to. Subsequently these issues have required me to have 5 new batteries replaced since owning this car. A dealer wants to charge $225 to check this I have seen and heard other complaints. I can’t possibly be the only one having these problems. My VIN number is not part of it. Previous recalls for some unknown reason. There has never been a battery failure, or warning light it just dies. I have video of the occurrence on most recently on January 11, 2020 for what has been occurring for years and very frequently.
Transmission failed.
Vehicle caught on fire from the inside somewhere towards the driver side in dash. Instrument cluster and dash completely burnt. Entire inside interior of car burnt.

The car has put my son's life in danger numerous occasions. From electrical failure to transmission failure. The issues have been reported numerous times and the car serviced for the issues by Chevrolet dealerships. The car has completely lost power while on the highway driving due to electrical failure and currently the transmission is broken, and the car cannot be driven safely. There is loss of propulsion due to the transmission pulleys and internal belt being damaged. The transmission was replaced by Chevrolet voluntarily due to mechanical failures the car was experiencing as identified by their letter dated February 2020 at 107,411 miles. On August 16, 2023, the car was returned to Chevrolet for the failure of the transmission at approx. 143,000 miles with the warning lamp illuminated. Chase Chevrolet dealership service department confirmed the issue was due to internal mechanical failure and did not occur due to faulty operation or maintenance. Chase Chevrolet denied coverage for the repair and I contacted Chevrolet per the contact information on the letter dated 2/20 and reported the incident. Chevrolet service input the diagnosis information in the internal system for Chevrolet incident # 9-10494221135. Chevrolet representative maya offered approx. $204 to cover the replacement of the transmission.
Passenger front spring broken.
Windshield wipers and stability control and other electrical problems occurred while driving thru the rain.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Spark. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to shake uncontrollably and veered off the road. The contact was able to take control of the vehicle and placed the vehicle in park. The contact stated that there was no audio or visual warning at the time of the failure. The contact alerted onstar who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was unaware of the diagnostic result. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was repaired, however, the contact was concerned about an onstar software update. The contact became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 15v416000 (equipment) and related the failure to the recall. Additionally, on several occasions while the vehicle was parked, the contact was unable to enter or exit the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not able to duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The secondary hood latch lever problem was discovered in August 2022. I received a letter at the beginning of October 2022. I called to have my vehicle repaired but was advised that the parts were not available. I called again in late February 2023 and the parts were still not available. The recall was issued because the secondary latch striker may become stuck out of position and fail to properly engage. If the striker becomes stuck out of position and both the primary and secondary hood latch fail to engage, the vehicle’s hood may open unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. The last sentence is an understatement to say the least. My daughter drives the chevy Spark from our home in beaver falls, PA to college in edinboro, PA. Approximately a 2 hour drive on route 79, a major highway for semi trucks from PA to NY. If the hood opens unexpectedly, there will be a crash not the risk will be increased. When I asked chevy about a loaner, I was advised that I could not get 1. I asked if I’m supposed to keep driving since I have no other options, I was advised that I could not get a loaner. I asked for a supervisor to call me back. I was advised that a supervisor would call me back within 24-48 hours. She gave me case # 9-9494938162. 2 days later, the same women called me back and advised me that I could not get a loaner. I asked why supervisor did not call me back. Said he was not available. I am filing a complaint because it has been 5 months (October 2022) since I received the recall letter and it’s been 7 months since the problem has been known (August 2022).
There is a recall on my vehicle, took it to the chevy dealership I purchased, I've been waiting since 2022 for them to notify me if/when they receive such part, here it's two years later and still no recall fixture.
The key is a problem. Personally mine has broken 4 times. The fob & base of the key is too big for the key itself. I know other Chevrolet models have had key recalls for the same reason, so I am not sure why they have not recalled the chevy Spark keys because they are the same format as other models. It would be convenient if they separated the fob and the key. Currently my key is super glued because the dealership has this key on back order. I just replaced this key two years ago and it just keeps breaking.
Vehicle #1 heading southbound then cross lanes and ture abruptly eastward into ongoing traffic of vehicle #2 northbound lane. Both vehicle's collided and vehicle #2 air bag's did not deploy during impact.
Trunk divider opens randomly blocking rear window randomly will have to park and get out open hatch and put it back down definitely a hazard if one uses there rear view mirror as it blocks the window completely need to figure out how to make it stay down or simply remove the piece all together! it has happened many times car now has 3000 miles and any speed!.
No way to open trunk without a key. No way to open trunk from inside the the car.

There was a recall for the chevy Spark to reprogram the transmission control module, however that does not fix the problem. It does not need to be reprogrammed , because all that did was leave the check engine light on. They have fault control modules. My car is 3 years old and nothing but issues fixing this. The dealerships say that they fixed the recall by reprogramming it, but the light stays on, the rpms drop suddenly and cause the car to jerk when you try to give it gas. This needs to be looked into further. I would never recommend thus car to anyone I know, much less now I'm trying to get rid of it because of the transmission issue.

I sent this unit to the dealership to have a key programmed but they can't program the key. They said they need further information to program a key. Please advise.
My daughter purchased this vehicle used in December 2019. Two weeks after she purchased it, the heating system had to be completely rebuilt. Now less than a week ago the a,/c system stopped blowing cold. She had to have the compressor replaced. Then two days later, the a/c stopped blowing cold again. Thai time it was the pressure switch on the low side. Her mechanic did some research and found that at some point gm issued a "recall" not exactly a recall, but a voluntary fix for a/c issues involving 2013 and 2014 chevy Sparks. Apparently if the repair had not been made by 2016, then only applicable warranties would apply. Well, we didn't buy this vehicle until 2019, but the hvac system has been nothing but trouble from the start. Gm knows there was an issue with the hvac systems back in 2014. How can they only repair faulty equipment for 2 years? a quick google search of "chevy Spark ac issues" will lead to numerous reports of similar issues. Gm needs to step up and take care of this issue for good!.
The shelf, cover, top over the trunk area does not stay down. It is not attached by any cords to raise it up or lower it when opening the hatchback. If it is up seeing out the back window is extremely limited, posing a safety hazard. It is necessary to put an object on the top of it to stay down, and hope it doesn't fall off while driving.
Transmission.
I did my recall for transmission control module by cheverolet dealership and all of sudden my car shut off while driving in busy traffic on a busy road. Would not turn on at all, would not go out of gear at all. Had to have toad back to the dealership. But bc gm is on strike received no loaner car. I'm disabled and so is husband who has severe brain injury. I live way out in country.
Vehicle is in motion and it just dies randomly.
The front lights appear to have a defect in them. When I have a bulb replace it goes right out. I just purchased this car on 11/19/2018. I had the oil changed twice already and the oil indicator continues to come on.
Car sputters and hesitates. Feels like transmission or fuel problem. Had transmission replaced once already. From what I'm hearing transmissions in this car have an issue. Seems like it should be replaced by manufacturer not me. This has been happening for months. It was seeming to come and go now it just all the time.
Chevrolet Spark 2015 the vehicle does not respond after stop, or when turning and the speed is reduced. It takes too long to accelerate again. . I almost had two accidents for this problem. I bought the car at automall miami lakes on sept 13 from carlos morales, master especialist . On sept 19 I picked up the car, but next day when I get to my job, the tire icon was signaling, then I went back to service, on sept 21, the same tire signal, service put air and said there was no more problem, but I keep informing the accelerator situation that almost put me in 2 accidents, one while I was turning, with sufficient time, and the second while I was at a stop. Light on sept 24 he car had the tire icon again I asked carlos the carfax who sent me to manager alexander who gave me it, and shows the car had an accident in 2015. I signed it, but the manager refused to sign his part. I asked marcio for an official report list of all the days I've been there for the tire icon too. He told me the tire icon is not a problem that needs to be reported. That tires are not part of the car warranty. I made a claim with Chevrolet headquarter on sept 26, claim 8-46665524641 the car warranty expires on oct 25 2018. Carlos morales, master especialist, who sold me the car did not give too much importance to the carfax report, saying that those are small accidents, that the car is still good. But I told him that if I knew it, my decision would be not buying it. He told me that the agency will help me if I find another car in automall announces or in the internet. In sept 26, I went to see carlos again and show him other Spark online in automall that can be changed for the one that I bought, or to get my money back. He told me that I need to pay at least the first month, then add that I need to pay 2 months before they consider to change the car I bought.
I was driving on the freeway up a slight incline, it was over 100 degrees outside, had ac working and had cruise control set to 70 mph, the cruise control suddenly canceled itself out and my speed rapidly dropped. This always seems to happen when the weather is over 100 degrees outside and going up an incline, even slightly. Another problem I am having is that when I come to a stop, sometimes the car shudders and jerks. Also if I am running the ac on the vehicle in park, sometimes the ac cuts out itself. In order to start it again I need to turn the knob to off and turn the knob back on to get ac working again. These issues all occurred randomly, multiple times.
Front and rear passenger and driver side airbags deployed without impact while taking a right turn, traveling approximately 10-15 mph from one side street to another. The impact of the airbag caused the driver to veer to the right striking the curb. Contacted gm and their investigation determined it was not a manufacturing issue. They denied the claim and would not pay for repairs. Currently waiting to hear back from the insurance company.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 chevorlet Spark. The contact stated that the alarm system will not work. The vehicle was stalmost stolen three times. The vehicle never alarmed or sounded once the vehicle was broken into. The lock would go up and down on it's own. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to plattner's arcadia chevorlet Buick (863) 869-2228 210 s brevard Ave, arcadia, FL 34266 where they were informed that nothing could be done about the vehicles failures. The manufacturer was not informed. The failure is not related to recall. Failure mileage is unknown. Jw.
Car lost power and will not go over 5 miles per hour while in drive. I was on a city street when this occured.
