I own a 2001 Suburban. The truck uses 1 qt of motor oil to every 1000 miles. The dealer is fredrick Chevrolet of lebanon, PA. The gm song they sing is that this is normal for a 5. 3 engine. I can't believe that this is normal. Does gm have a problem and don't want to own up to it? what about pollution?.

Engine knocking after start up. Much worse on cold days.
