Ten problems related to dashboard crack have been reported for the 2009 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Cracked dash in 2 spots.
Dash cracked and totally inploded. Loose parts everywhere. These parts fly everywhere when moving vehicle. Airbag loose and probally could implode without wrecking accident. Definately a hugh safety factor. Maybe nahta would like to drive my vehicle with couple top execs from gm over country roads and Dodge loose scraphnel. 05/07/2019.
Dash has continued to crack - over 4 cracks that has affected the defrost vent, dash and now I receive periodic airbag warnings upon starting ignition and/or parking. I am concerned as a driver, mother of 3 and caregiver of elderly mom that the air bags will deploy at anytime and/or not function correctly upon a crash or collision.
Dashboard cracked above instrument panel and above passenger airbag. This occurred when vehicle was stationary. There was no slow progression of the cracking, just one day entered vehicle and found very large cracks in dash at points above instrument cluster and passenger airbag area.
Dashboard is cracked and continues cracking. This continues to happen over time. Not only is it unsightly but if there were a crash and air bags deployed the pieces of dashboard would become shrapnel.
My dash cracked on my Suburban just like my tahoe did and the airbag light goes off. I know there's a recall but the cracked dash triggered the warning light. Thousands and thousands of chevy owners have cracked dashes just like mine.
2009 Chevrolet Suburban ltz cracked dashboard without being involved in an accident. Cracks started appearing over driver's side area above airbags. Very concerning if involved in an accident and airbags deploying and shards of plastic becoming flying projectiles and an obvious problem gm is fully aware of.
Dashboard in vehicle cracks the product is made of cheap plastic material and installed from the factory without any support or rubber washers to allow for movement causing the dashboard to crack and crumble over time. This is an issue for gm / chevy model trucks and SUV 's from 2007-2014.
My dashboard cracked in two places after a few years. . One over the drivers side steering wheel and at the corner of the passengers air bag. . See pictures. From what I am hearing this is happening a lot. We have always been chev sub and tahoe buyers. . This is not good.
Dash on 2009 Chevrolet Suburban has cracked on the passenger side next to the airbag panel. Dash has also cracked on the driver side above the instrument panel cluster. Concern is that in a car accident where the air bags deploy the dash board may break apart and become shrapnel causing additional injury, permanent disability, or death to the passenger.
