62 problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My truck is affected due to the cracked dash that is a continuing problem in gym trucks like my 2010 Suburban.
We noticed a crack on the dashboard that appears to move between the passenger airbag and the center dash vent on July 11th, 2020. There was a substantial amount of noise "ratlling" from the dash board. On July 18th we noticed that the spa e on the dash under the vent was hanging even lower and more noise. On 7/27/20 we realized the crack continues to spread and the dash is sunk in more. We arw concerned the air bag will not deploy if needed or that further cosmetic injury will happen to the dash. The car was initially stationary outside our home. Each instance the crack is visible as well as the increased space under the vent. The problem became more evident as we drove off each time. We take city streets and highway when driving. This vehicle has never been in an accident. We have owned several makes and models of different vehicles and have no idea why this is happening. We do know we have six children and this is our family car that we no longer feel safe driving.
Severe dash cracking around airbags. If repaired, I'm afraid that airbag may deploy. Cracks are getting worse.
The dash is cracked in many places for no reason and some of the pieces are sharp.
My entire dashboard is cracking and its into pieces. . . . I do not park in the sun.
The dash is cracking in multiple locations which if the airbags were to deploy could send shards of plastic flying through the passenger compartment creating a safety hazard. This has been occurring for some time but is continuing to get worse, and we have recently noticed that it has broken all the way across one of the dash panels. I have looked online and this appears to be a issue with many Chevrolet vehicles.
Dash cracking in multiple areas around the airbag creating a flying projectiles hazard even in a minor fender bender if the airbag deploys.
Cracked dash in multiple locations.
Dash is falling apart, full of cracks; chunks of plastic dash have broken off. Potential safety issue if involved in an accident, especially if dash airbag is deployed. Large sharp pieces of dash will break loose and become projectiles/ shrapnel. I believe sunlight and high heat in parked car has caused this. Not caused by an accident. Definitely a design flaw. Should be recalled.
2010 Chevrolet Suburban my dash board inexplicably cracked in several places some around the air bag. After researching, I found thousands have the same problem and are concerned the cheap plastic dash could turn to shrapnel in an accident. I have read people spend hundreds, sometimes thousands to fix the damage only for it to happen again. Gm needs to be held responsible for this poor and cheap design flaw. No one deserves to spend $40k on a vehicle that literally cracks apart in a short time of ownership. If gm really stands behind the quality of their products, then they need to step up and take care of their customers. And while I'm at it all vehicle manufacturers need to stop making such cheap unsafe piece of craps that are constantly being recalled for some reason or another. Nhtsa needs to hold these manufacturers responsible for not only ripping us all off, but also producing such unsafe vehicles. Stand up and grow a backbone NHTSA!.
Dashboard is cracked around airbag and I am concerned if the airbag was ever deployed the broken dashboard would act like shrapnel and injure passengers.
The dash board cracked in two places, one by the passenger side airbag and one by the instrument cluster. This occurred while driving home from work on a paved road out of the blue. Heard a "snap" sound and there it was, cracked.
The dashboard is cracked in two places.
I have multiple cracks formed on my dash panel over the instrument cluster one is very large I know this is a major issue on this vehicle and could cause injury if in a accident. The vehicle was sitting in my driveway when this happened. This is a widespread problem that gm has refused to acknowledge. There are thousands of people affected by this. This dashboard should be recalled. It seriously impacts our resale value.
The dash cracked out of the blue one main spot and it branched off from there. I just looked up yesterday after getting out of the car and there it was it wasn't there the other day.
The dashboard cracked with no incident to cause it. The vehicle was parked and was noticed when returning to the car. The vehicle is well taken care of and parked/protected with spaces that are covered. There are two cracks, one extends from upper right corner of the passenger airbag and the other starts and extends near the instrument panel. This is a known defect on gm made vehicles manufactured between 2007-2013. There is no event that caused this crack and the vehicle is protected from extreme heat and cold. Non-abrasive cleaning protects are also used on the dash. This happens to a majority of owners of these vehicles and there is even a facebook group with over 4000 members that documents all the problems. This is a safety hazard because if the airbag goes off or a vehicle accident occurs, then small pieces of plastic can easily become projectiles. These vehicles are much to expensive to have these problems with no major event to cause it.
Just like everybody else online, my dash is really cracked. I have 32 inches of cracking. This vehicle is in super shape except for the dash.
Large cracks in the dash board. Some starting around passenger airbag and some starting over the steering wheel area.
Dash cracked and fell apart. Had to replace the entire dash board assembly. The dash was cracking as if it was made of glass. A piece of the dash even broke off while I was driving and fell on my lap. .
Dashboard has begun to crack in numerous areas, 1 area that is very concerning is right by the passenger airbag which I feel concerned that if it were to inflate the dashboard would would send projectiles flying. The dash is also cracking severely above the instrument cluster. Upon research this is a issue that the internet is flooded with and gm refuses to address the problem. I contacted gm in regards to this issue and they refuse to take responsibility although at a dealethis ship when I went looking around 4 out of the 5 vehicles for sale on the lot had the same cracks in the same places. I need help from NHTSA to resolve this issue before my family is put in danger in the event of a vehicle accident. This crack seemed to occur when the weather got cold, I turned on my heat and the desk immediately cracked. This is flawed equipment and we as consumers should not have to deal with it.
The dash has a crack at the top left corner where the airbag is located. I'm concerned about injury if the airbag is deployed or that it might not deploy properly in a crash.
The dash on the left corner of the passenger side airbag has cracked.
Dashboard has cracked from the steering wheel consul to the airbag compartment. Fear that this will impact deployment of airbag or cause dashboard to shatter if airbag is deployed.
The dashboard has cracked in two locations, at the corner of the passenger airbag cover, and in front of the instrument column. This is greatly concerning because it could cause the airbag to malfunction, or cause other debris from the dashboard to come loose in an accident. This is a known issue and yet no recall has been issued. When in motion the dashboard vibrates violently because the two cracks have compromised the structural integrity and support. The vibrating also causes a significant rattle.
My dashboard has developed 3 major cracks across it.
I noticed while driving my vehicle that my dash started to rattle. After getting to school to drop my kids off, I noticed that I had a crack in my dash resonating from the top of the steering wheel portion of the dash. It has since then grown another crack and the original crack is becoming longer and longer. The dash is now cracked at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side of the vehicle. I am concerned that the cracks are going to just continue until I'm unable to keep the vibrations to a minimum. I'm also concerned about the crack now over by the airbag. I don't know if this would cause the airbag to malfunction if it continues.
Dashboard cracked. If airbag deployed the shrapnel from dashboard would injure driver and passenger. Noticed it when it rattled while driving down the road.
Heard the dash start to make a noise, looked at it and there was a small hairline crack. Came back to the car about 4 hours later and there were two cracks about the odometer. This car is garaged every evening and is well kept on the inside. I have been a loyal customer to gm but after this I doubt I will ever buy gm again.
Dashboard crack in multiple places.
The dashboard cracked on two locations on the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban ltz. One crack is over the driver's side/steering column which continues to grow. The other crack is located on the passenger side and goes directly into the airbag. This is consistent with other reportings on the internet of fellow chevy Suburban owners. My car is stored in my garage all day and is not sitting in the sun all day nor has the car ever been in an accident. Chevy has no explanation as to why this happens - just that they are not willing to at least pay for 1/2 or the cost of the new dashboard. I brought the car to the dealership at the beginning of the year and stated that I heard a rattling from the dashboard; asked if they could ensure that the dash was secure. When I picked up the vehicle they stated the dash was fine. The rattling continued for months. After several months, I noticed the crack on the passenger side. Several weeks later, I noticed the crack on the driver's side. The dealership nor chevy will assist with this issue.
The top surface of the dashboard has cracked. The crack has reached the area of the front passenger side airbag. The area affected by the cracked dashboard seems loose and makes a loud rattle as I drive.
Dash is cracked in 6 different spots; 3 of the cracks being around the passenger air bag. If the airbag were to deploy, the dash would shatter thus causing sharp projectiles to be dispensed in the vehicle cabin potentially causing serious injury to the occupants. The cracks start down where the bolts connect to the body (they extend further down than what can be seen in the photos).
Several cracks have appeared in the dash of my 2010 Suburban. One is on the left corner of the passenger airbag compartment. The other is above the instrument panel on the drivers side. After the crack occurred above the instrument panel, the sensors began to malfunction. The cracks appeared over time. We bought the vehicle used in 2012 and there were no defects in the dash. The vehicle has not been in any accidents nor has her been any force applied to the dash that would have caused the cracks. We discovered the cracks about a year ago and have been trying to work with gm to resolve the issue as it appears that this is occurring in thousands of other gm vehicles from 2007-2013. We are members of a facebook group with almost 4000 members all sharing the same photos, stories and issues with their gm vehicles. This complaint is filed due to the fact that the cracks are getting worse and my fear is that the passenger airbag could be dangerous if deployed. Not to mention the malfunctioning sensors under the instrument panel where the other crack is located.
My dash is cracked next to the airbag and this could potentially be a hazard if the airbag is not properly contained.
I have always garaged and maintained my vehicles. When I park my car while out,I always utilize a windshield visor to protect my dash as well as keep the temperature down in the vehicle. When I started noticing my dash was cracking I was shocked. In my 40 plus years of owning a vehicle I have never had a dash crack. The crack has continued to spread over the controls in front of the steering wheel at this point. I got an estimate on replacing it and was quoted 1600. 00 parts and labor. Seriously?? I am furious at this point and I am looking for another vehicle, not a chevy. I've had many things go wrong with this model which include the motorized side windows, the glass popping open on the hatch, all the paint chipping off on the air control buttons, hinges breaking off of the storage compartments on the console, the motorized button that is supposed to lift the backseat don't work properly and the list goes on and on. Such an expensive disappointment.
