62 problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Dash is cracked by passenger airbag and it will not allow the cover to attach properly. Sharp plastic edge may cut airbag when deployed making it useless. Also, there is a recall on the airbag and gm is stating that no parts are available and they won't be for a while.
Dashboard cracked in two places. One above instrument cluster, one by passenger airbag. Dashboard rattles due to crack. Airbag function may be adversely affected. There was no incident that lead to the cracks, other than outdoor temperature fluctuations.
The dash has cracked in 3 different direction on the passenger side at the upper right hand corner of the air bag. The Chevrolet dealership where the vehicle was purchased has stated that gm will not repair or replace it. The crack started as one and has since run in different directions.
I noticed my dash was cracked while cleaning my windows. It is crack at both airbags both passenger & driver. It rattles while driving down the highway. It is very disappointing that I have a car in such pristine condition with low-mileage & the dash board looks like something in a 35 year old vehicle. I have been told by the dealer & gm it is the dash pad & is around $1800. 00-$1900. 00 to replace. Not only is it a visual & noise nuisance I feel it could be extremely dangerous if I were in & accident & the dash would splinter into hundreds of pieces that could kill or cause serious injuries even blindness.
I have multiple cracks in my dashboard. One on the top right corner of the airbag and another over the instrument panel. This is a widespread problem that gm has refused to acknowledge. There are thousands of people affected by this. This dashboard should be recalled. It seriously impacts our resale value.
Like many other chevy/GMC light truck and truck owners, my dash has cracked. I worry that the cracked sharp dash could interfere with the airbags ability to deploy safely.
The dashboard has three severe long cracks that run into where the airbag would deploy and one that runs vertically straight up to the steering wheel. This is clearly a defect. The edges are very sharp. A piece has cracked and fell into the a/c vent. I am very concerned the dash could cut the airbag as it passes by the sharp edges or sharp edges could severely cut driver or passenger as airbag pushed broken dash into passenger or driver. This needs to be addressed.
Under normal conditions, there was a large "pop" sound from the dash and I noticed that the dash cracked and has jagged sharp plastic edges.
Like many other chevy/GMC light truck and truck owners, my dash has cracked.
Cracked dash board. Next to airbag and above instrument cluster. Concerned for proper function of airbag as well as the instrument cluster. It started to crack several years ago and continues to get worse every year.
Dashboard cracking in 2 places.
Dashboard is cracked from front to back right in front of the driver position as well as around the airbag right in front of the passenger position. This is a well known defect. Happens no matter what I am doing. Windows have reflective tint on them and a visor is used to try and keep heat down inside the vehicle. The dash cracked anyway.
The dashboard developed a crack approx 8 inches long on the drivers side behind steering column. This happened when the heat was turned on to defrost window. This is dangerous because if the airbag should deploy pieces of the dash could be sent flying into the passenger compartment and cause injuries. Gm does not want to fix the problem.
Driver's side dashboard crack over instrument cluster. No accident, original owner, crack just occurred and pieces have fallen into instrument panel. Crack is running vertical from seam in front of driver's windshield up to driver's instrument panel area where steering wheel is located.
The dash has a severe crack that causes a major distraction and safety concerns while driving due to the vibration and noise.
My dash on my Suburban is cracked around the passenger airbag. I feel this issue is a safety hazard if the airbag comes out it may throw plastic pieces everywhere.
Major cracks in dash board on both the driver and passenger side. Passenger side airbag has cracks right next to it. If airbag goes off parts of dashboard will go flying and could injure someone in the car.
Dashboard has cracked in several places and dealership nor gm will repair.
The dash is cracking around passenger airbag and above instrument cluster.
Dashboard is cracked in several places.
I am having a big issue with cracks on my dash board- I have a 2010 Suburban and the cracks started in 2013 and have now grown in size to where a portion of my dash has caved in above the instrument cluster as well as a crack now reaching to the passenger air bag. I have read of other people having the same cracking issue in the same locations on the dash. Is there a fix for this? I'm concerned of issues if there is a collision or the air bag deploys.
Dash board has serious cracking on driver and passenger sides.
The dashboard is cracked on the driver's side and the passenger side.
The dash has been cracked for years on a six year old vehicle. Gm refuses to make it right. This is documented to be a design flaw on many gm trucks and suvs for several years and gm is too cheap to fix them.
Dashboard cracked in several areas near corners and radius. Concerned if air bags deploy, sharp edges will severely cut passengers. This happened just 2 years after new purchase. Makes car look very cheap.
My dash is cracked on the passenger side between the airbag deploy location and the front window vents. This are is approximately 1 1/2 inches and obviously not well made as there are many others with the same issue. Only other problem is the steering wheel whines when I turn it. Other than that I really like my vehicle, just which chevy would stand behind its product more, especially when it is a real defect like the dash.
I have read 1,000's of complaints about the dash board cracking. I have a crack above the passenger air bag and now above the steering cluster. There are too many complaints for this to continue to go unattended.
