1 Engine Burning Oil problem

2010 5. 3l engine consumes oil at an excessive rate. The lack of a low oil warning has caused the engine to be run without oil for excessive periods of time. Engine issues include stalling and inability to start vehicle until diagnosed by mechanic as being void of oil. Oil consumption has been as high as 100% within a six month period after completing a certified oil change by ase professionals.

2 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. When the vehicle was started, the vehicle and the garage filled up with dark gray smoke without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle failed an oil consumption test due to an oil consumption leak. The dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not worth the repair costs. The manufacturer offered the contact a deal to purchase a new vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.
