Takata recall: available online information tells me that as the airbags age, they become more sensitive to failure. Also, florida seems to have a higher failure rate than most states due to heat and humidity. I am very concerned about this condition and feel I should be able to get a prompt repair.

Takata recall. A recall was put in place may 2016. It is now October 2017 and we have yet to have airbags addressed or fixed. We are a one vehicle family and must have our vehicle. Gm says they are safe to drive, but the same airbags were in my grandmother's Honda crv and they were deemed not safe and they provided her with a rental vehicle while they replaced her airbags. I am worried about the safety of my family in my vehicle pending gm's appeal to the recall.

65,000 miles on 2011 Chevrolet Suburban and the dash has multiple cracks. Concerned that one of the cracks is next to passenger airbag. Worried about shrapnel in a collision.
Significant stress fractures on the dash against the air bag on the passenger side. I'm concerned about dash fragments could injure the passenger or puncture the airbag in a crash rendering it ineffective.
The dashboard cracked around the passenger airbag deployment area and above the top of the driver side instrument panel.
Dashboard cracking potentially affecting the use of the airbag and the electrical components under the dashboard on the drivers side.
My dashboard is cracked over the steering wheel but most people are complaining of the dash being cracked around the airbag. Gm refuses to repair.
The dash on my Suburban has cracked at the airbag compartment.
The dashboard on my 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 has cracked in two locations. Both of these locations would be effected by an airbag activation with high potential for flying sharp plastic fragments that a) pierce the airbag or prevent its proper inflation or, b) injure or kill front seat passengers. Open-source research indicates this is a widespread and pervasive issue with general motors vehicles of similar design (suburban, tahoe, silverado, avalanche, etc. . . ) stretching over a period of several years-- at least effecting model years 2007 thru 2013 or more. Furthermore, every gm service center has experienced so many of these dashboard cracks that replacement of these parts has become routine. Gm views this inherent design flaw as a warranty issue, not the endemic problem it actually is with potential for injury.
My 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 lt (in excellent shape) has multiple drivers side dashboard cracks and these cracks may affect airbag deployment by cutting the airbag if deployed possibly causing airbag failure when needed. On 6/23/15, attempted to have manufacturer (gm) replace the dashboard (thru local dealer - banner Chevrolet, new orleans). Dealer told me that gm would share the cost of replacement? my share would be approximately $500? why would gm share the cost of replacement, unless they are aware of a hereditary engineering design flaw causing the dashboards to crack ultimately interferring with the proper deployment and use of the airbag?.
The dash is cracked around the corner of the passenger airbag. In the event of an airbag deployment, the cracked dash could become a projectile and cause harm to occupants.
My 2011 chevy Suburban has two cracks on the dash, both connecting to the airbag. I have concerns of this weakening the dash which could cause sudden deployment of the airbag. I also have concerns that in the event of deployment,, pieces of broken plastic could cause injury, as did in an accident of another vehicle. My vehicle has been garaged for a year when not used. It was previously owned before that. This is my sixth Suburban. The kind of money we pay for these, even preowned, should cover better than the plastic dash that's falling apart.
I bought a gm certified Suburban and less than two weeks later the dashboard cracked behind the airbag. I called the dealer and gm and alerted them to the problem and told them I felt unsafe driving the vehicle with my children in the vehicle. I feel that if that airbag deploys it could send that sharp piece of broken plastic flying through my car. They will not fix the dashboard without me paying for it and said it is not a common complaint people are having. However, everyone I have talked to with a Suburban, tahoe, or pick up truck between the years of 2007-2013 is experiencing the same crack in the same place near that airbag. Gm needs to fix these before innocent people get hurt.
