45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/16/2017

Engine died on highway lost all power and no steering. Was told by dealer it was a bad neg battery cable. It is shocking that a bad battery cable can cause a deadly situation. Certainly someone will die from this defect if they havent already. Dealer claimed to repair the vehicle and it happened only a few miles after I picked up the vehicle. Error code was p0601. They have the car for repair again, but I refuse to every drive the death trap. I have had 20 Suburbans and I hope this is an isolated defect not one that affects all Suburbans. This defect is extremely dangerous. Someone will certainly die from this defect.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/19/2017

When you engage vehicle in drive, there is a very jerky, push-pull when accelerating until traction control sensor flashes and turns stabilitrak off. This can be very dangerous when pulling out into traffic and the vehicle does not want to smoothly accelerating to a safe merge in speed. I also have an issue with the dashboard cracking and causing the speaker built into the dash to rattle uncontrollable - this is very irritating and a safety issue as it causes me to take my eyes/hands off the wheel to try and stop the rattle!.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 03/24/2017

While driving on the highway I started hearing ticking noise from engine compartment and the stablizing light and check engine light started flashing. I shut off the Suburban and went to look under the hood. Started it back up and went back to listen again, still the same ticking. Chevy will not stand behind there bad afm which is causing this issue.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 02/21/2017

For the 3rd time my wife while driving her car had these issues! service power steering where it makes it hard to turn. Brake and abs lights come on making the brake pedal go to the floor barely stoping the Suburban, service stabilitrac and service trailer brake! this is the second time it's at the dealer the first time it went away so quickly we thought it was a fluke but it definitely scared my wife to death! by the time we get it to the dealer it clears it's self and they can't find anything wrong! we videoed the incidents and need help to see why those issues aren't recalled on our Suburban like they have recalled on other 2015 Suburbans?.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

Takata recall: it's been over 9 months since I received a recall notice regarding my Suburban. I have made several calls and still no fix for the problem. I have also had problems with the emission sensor caused by gas tank cap. This appears to be a problem for all Suburbans. I also experienced a loss in power with this vehicle while on the highway. The stabilitrqck light came on and I was able to safely exit the highway. Could have been a severe accident if inwas not near an exit.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/06/2016

Total brake failure (vehicle has 95,387) miles) at 40 mph in motion. Stabil-trac light indicated at the time of failure, service brake indicator on display information console. . Deployed 4wd low, dropped to lower gear and hit emergency brake to stop the vehicle on shoulder of road. Got out of vehicle saw brake fluid all over the skids and frame. Cause: towed to local shop indicated that brake lines on driver side and lines going to front wheel were completely rusty and "like paper". This was unsettling I don't live near saltwater but drive the vehicle a lot in winter. Had I been in a densely populated area, there certainly would have been loss of life. This vehicle weighs over 6000 lbs and no brakes is like to trying to stop a train. Please investigate similar failures as this failure in similar vehicles/any vehicle could cause loss of life.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine, electronic stability control, check suspension, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 169,887.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

I purchased this car with 67000 miles 2015 from tower auto mall , never realized that engine hours in my car , car had 6700 hrs with the purchased , you never knew , but when I purchased my new car I already have 40000 and only 1000 hrs engine that is when I noticed , plus my car had tons of problem and sounds ver old when reach 200000.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/17/2016

This started as I was driving down interstate at 65 mph. Suddenly my traction control light on dash came on along with blinking check engine light. Also read stabilitrak off and service traction control in readout below. Immediately my truck lost power and decelerated so I immediately pulled off road as to not get ran over by traffic. Read manual said to turn off and restart. Did this and all was good for another mile then happened again on and off for last 12 miles before I could get home. Upon taking it to dealership today they came back saying nothing about these codes but that there was a misfire code and oil low?? so now I have got an oil change and fuel system cleaning. Upon asking about the initial problem I was told to drive it to see if it happens again. This is a major issue with apparently the whole truck platform at gm. This problem is posted all over internet with cars even shutting off and brakes locking up and the big problem is no dealership knows how to fix it. Charge people a bunch of money to fix numerous things they know will not fix issue. This should be a major recall on 2007- at least 2010 from what I can see from data that is out there. I will be selling my truck after this because I do not feel safe driving my kids in it. I'm die hard chevy guy who has a 2003 Suburban with 400000+ miles on it with very little issues in all these years. Please make gm fix this problem.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

Car only has 60,000 miles brake booster is going out and chevy knows there is a problem but have not recalled. Also front shocks are going out due to magnetic ride system lots of people have the same problem chevy once again has not recalled!.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/29/2015

Two years ago my stabilitrak failure warning came up. The engine wouldn't go over 20 mph. The battery was replaced and the issue corrected. This week it happened again. While driving, the stabilitrak warning came up and car power/ acceleration went down to almost nothing. Chevy is saying they *think* my cam shaft lifter failed and it's almost $7,000 to fix. This seems to be an ongoing problem in the chevy/GMC cara of this manufacturing time. It's dangerous and someone will get killed.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/08/2015

Purchased the truck in March 2013 with approx 63k miles on it. In November 2013, stabilitrak warning came on. Took to chevy dealer who replaced spark plug and new battery. In January 2015, stabilitrak warning light on again. Took truck immediately to dealer who hooked it up for diagnosis but did get any results. Light did not come on again until 9/8/15 when I was driving 70 mph on a highway. Service stabilitrak/service traction control/abs all lit up. Strange noise coming from right front tire area when I attempted to slow down to pull off the highway, had no brakes. Pedal literally went to the floor. Luckily there was an incline so my vehicle slowed enough to allow me to get off the highway. Pulled off onto an emergency area just past the toll booths and had to use my emergency brake to stop. Luckily, I didn't have my 4 small children with me like I usually do. Now the extended warranty company is trying to deny my claim for repairs saying that the rust was the cause. I had the vehicle looked at by a certified authorized dealer who didn't notice the rust and I also had the truck inspected in July per MA law for safety and emissions and there was no mention of rust even though they do a pretty thorough inspection yet I, the consumer, am at fault when my wheel rips apart from the hub while traveling 70 mph?!? this is obviously a huge problem. People in the northeast drive suvs -and come into contact with salt every winter. Isn't that the point of having an SUV?!?. Never again will I buy a gm and I will be sure to tell anyone and everyone I know to avoid them as well. Shame on gm for putting consumers in potentially life-threatening situations because of the obvious use of inferior materials. I hope the NHTSA takes a really close look at this problem and force gm to address it.

59 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/27/2014

I was driving on the interstate when suddenly the traction stability control system lit up and the vehicle wouldn't go past 35mph. I took it to a GMC dealership who identified that the throttle position sensor cover needed to be replaced as well as reprogramming the ecm. This could be highly dangerous especially while on an interstate traveling 60-65 mph and then suddenly lose power and not being able to go faster than 35.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

Traveling on hwy 35 in dallas texas and message appeared on instrument cluster "reduced power mode". Vehicle speed dropped to 20 mph (posted speed was 70 mph). Had to have vehicle towed to dealership and a fix has not been determined. The dealer so far has charged me $900 and it did not fix it. This same problems been posted on gm forums, gm truck forums with these same results. There are hundreds or maybe thousands of complaints for this issue. It is very unsafe.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

Engine was idling low and hesitating at low speeds, then engine started running rally rough. Service engine light came on, changed gas in vehicle, problem continued. Engine running really rough and service stabilitrack light came on. Took truck to dealership and was told the first spark plug was fouled due to oil contamination and that engine and fuel injectors and throttle body needed cleaning. This cost $475 and was not covered by warranty.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

This is a recurring problem with my 2014 Suburban z-71 4x4, first occurring at 2735 miles, and again at 19,367, 19,420, and 20,435 miles. While driving at or above 45 mph, the vehicle has exhibited the following symptoms: loss of power while the "check engine," "stabiltrak" and "traction control" warning lights appear. The vehicle information center reads "traction control: off / stabiltrak: off" followed by "service traction control" and "service stabiltrak. " the readout then shows "engine power reduced. " the vehicle will not maintain highway speeds, and requires flooring the accelerator and or shifting the transmission into "manual" mode in order to maintain a safe highway speed. Rpms exceed 3500 unless using manual transmission function. After re-starting the vehicle, some or all warning lights eventually disappear, and the vehicle appears to return to normal. When I took the vehicle to the dealer after the first incident, the vehicle was in service for four and a half days, and was returned with the following comments:". . . Looked into si and found a pip saying wiggle wires at different spots. Wiggled wires and drove no problems drove well [sic]. No cel on. " the tech drove the vehicle for 30 miles and had no problems. A comment on my invoice stated "had pi stating that tech would probably not be able to duplicate concern - checked connectors as per ml. " initial response from service department on current problem set is that they plan to replace parts associated with the accelerator.

63 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

While driving on the highway I was using the cruise control and the car began to increase in speed without my control. It went from 65 to 90 in a few seconds and I had to slam on the breaks to get it to stop. This has happened several times. Also we can never let the gas get lower then a quarter of a tank or the car just shuts down like its empty. Sometimes the engine will just rev up for no reason and other times it doesn't accelerate properly. You can push the gas and it feels like the speed is delayed but then will catch up.

64 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

Ignition does not engage engine when key is turned. Takes several attempts of turning key on, completely off, then on again until engine will engage and start. Stabilitrak light illuminates and goes off every 20-40 miles. Rough shift between first and second gear.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/26/2014

I had the vehicle in park, on a hill, and when I shifted it into drive, felt a pop in the pedal. Then the brakes would not hold the vehicle. I had a very difficult time stoppinf the vehicle due to the loss of brake pressure. The brakes pedal would just fall to the floor. My husband came out and found one of the rear brake lines was rusted and leaking fluid. The brake lines have visible rust on the outside of them.

66 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 04/24/2014

While driving under normal conditions, stabilitrak light illuminated and engine began idling rough. Codes read cylinder #6 misfire. Diagnosis revealed failed piston. Engine rebuild required at a cost of $6700. Stabilitrak light continues to go on and off.

67 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the reduced power engine and stability traction warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the contact mentioned that while at a traffic light with the brakes engaged, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician cleaned the throttle box but the problem has recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 157,000. Pam.

68 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

2007 chevy Suburban with 5. 3 afm engine. Driving down freeway and traction control, stabilink and engine light come on. Misfiring real bad. After getting it to shop they stated no compression in 2 cylinders. When told service manager he stated what problem was right away. Then confirmed it. Knew right away because it is common problem. Stated problem dropped lifters which damaged camshaft stemming from afm system. Would have to pay to tear down engine to be exact but will need a motor either way. This has been a common problem with the oil consumption problem with this motor. I had been experiencing oil consumption for a long time. I would burn a quart of oil driving 1000 miles on long trips. Every week I'm a 1/4-1/2 quart low. Chevy says this is normal and denies there is a problem but this is far from normal. This also stems from afm system. An 07 chevy Suburban that has been maintained should last more than 170,000 miles and chevy should stand by their product of a known issue. There have been fixes by chevy but none seem to work. I never formally filed a complaint with chevy or did oil consumption test( but they wouldn't have it if there wasn't a problem. I have just followed issue online waiting for a fix. But , motor died first. Also vehicle has a cracked dash which has been a common problem with this vehicle which chevy has since reinforced the places it cracks indicating there was a flaw in design but chevy refuses to fix.

69 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/12/2013

I was driving at highway speed just starting to exit off ramp brakes went to the floor and dash lights came on for brakes, also stability loss message came on. Could have been killed or had serious accident. Lucky did not but is a very serious issue. Brought to shop and was told and shown all brake lines were rusted real bad and one broke open while I was exiting that off ramp. I called gm but they did nothing! I was very upset with this and feel this should be brought to the attention of someone who will really look into this for the safety of all. Also my 1997 chevy conversion van,and my husbands 2005 chevy silverado the same thing happened to those brake lines while driving broke open due to rust, losing brakes while driving. Van mileage was 70000,and silverado mileage was 75000. This is so dangerous I urge you to please check into it before someone gets killed. I recently saw on the news that suburu recalled cars in northern states for rusted brake lines same as this. Gm should be doing the same.

70 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

Air bag light, door locks, traction control, radio, and many other electrical components flicker on and off. Engine vibrates and then dies. Will not start back up until some period of time goes by. Always diff and happens in all temps and driving conditions. When in garage all night will not start in the am. Very intermittent. We have been stranded with kids 5 times and have only owned this vehicle for 4 months.
