Rim corrosion resulting in loss of air pressure. The inner portion of the rim is corroding causing the tires to loose pressure. Depending on the amount of corrosion this could lead to a catastrophic failure at some point due to sudden loss of pressure. I took my vehicle to a tire shop thinking there was a puncture causing it to loose pressure. The manager explained to me that the pressure loss was due to corrosion of the alloy rim and that it is common with Chevrolet vehicles with factory alloy rims. The only solution to the problem is to have the rims possibly refurbished or replaced.

The 22 inch rims on my vehicle are cast aluminum I'm assuming. I have had several cracks causing me to rapidly loose air on the tires while driving at highway speeds. I have had three cracks in different rims within the last week and have had the rims repaired twice. The vehicle has 75k miles on it. This is a major concern and safety issue. I've never seen that many cracks happen at once. Some say well your hitting potholes but that isn't the case here.
When driving at highway speeds or even around town the vehicle randomly jerks to one side or another alignment was just done and was told all was good tires are new pitman armor place ball joints replaced still having the issue of it darting specially when going around curves it wants to pull vehicle to the ditch and I look like I am driving drunk which I'm not I've had my mechanic try to inspect the issue he couldn't find it I heard they're made possibly be a TSB out for it but it's hidden.

Electrical: noticed a few months ago that the lane assistance/departure and blind spot warning work off and on. At times the blind spot warning does not warn and will when there is nothing there. Lane assistance and departure have the same issue. Transmission: gears slipping. I am not a mechanic but there were no telltale signs until it just went out on me while driving with my children in the car! the only thing I noticed in several months prior was that the vehicle would shake as if you were running over the paved warning bumps on the side of the freeway. I just thought it was possibly the road or I needed new tires. I got new tires, problem still persists. When the gears slipped while I was on the highway it took about 15 seconds to engage at which time I removed myself and my children from being a traffic hazard. I checked the transmission oil - which I just did two weeks ago because I knew it was time to change the oil for the transmission - this time it had a very defined burnt smell and black in color.

With cruise control activated, at least 10 times since I bought this expensive vehicle the automated emergency braking activated at highway speeds - causing the vehicle to full brake without warning and nearly causing an accident each time (handling risk and risk of being impacted from behind by a following vehicle). I have formally reported this issue to dealers in mn and mt, and they only thing they said was they could not duplicate the condition during brief test rides and this was not a know problem. I personally know this was a known problem and gm did a safety recall for this condition on my15-20 Suburbans. This condition is definitely an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. In additional, the original tires supplied by gm (firestone) failed under normal driving conditions after only about 35,000 miles, and both gm and firestone denied there was any warranty coverage. Since then, new les schwab tires failed at about the same mileage. Something is obviously not right with this vehicle, and this condition is also an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. Finally, last week my front passenger wheel cracked. I have not hit anything significantly hard with that wheel - but it is nonetheless cracked. This is also obviously defective and an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.
The car was slowly making right hand turn when we heard a loud noise and stopped the car once we got out, we saw that right wheel was completely torn out. We have videos and pictures. If it would happened on the higher speed, we would be dead. The car shop told us that they never seen anything like that in the past. Per their report, upper control arm broke off then the rest followed: lower control arm, ball joint, outer tie rod, poss inner tie rod, sway bar link, abs sensor connector.
Front passenger spindle / thimble that connects the lower ball joint sheared off. Suburban drops to ground, bolt end of lower ball joint hits and breaks through back of wheel that results in a deflated tier. Repair items listed by chevy service center. Replace right lower ball joint alignment replace right front steering knuckle replace right front wheel, monitor and stem, reprogram replace broken front spoiler replace rf fender liner with the low speed of travel , about 8mph there were no safety issues. Vehicle and broken steering knuckle has been inspected by service agent and manager at fred bean chevy, doylestown, pm. Their position is normal wear, "we must have had impact at some time to cause initial fracture". Extended warranty agrees with view stated from fred bean. Our insurance company is sending an agent to inspect. No warning lamps, messages, etc presented in driver display.
Spare tire hoist wire broke and spare tire was released from vehicle on the highway. Vehicle was doing speed limit of 75mph and spare tire barely missed traffic behind vehicle.
The steering pump has plenty of fluid in the reservoir and has been changed regularly. All of the sudden all power assisted steering disappeared when turning to the left making parking nearly impossible causing a great safety concern as this is my only vehicle and now my wife cannot take the truck anywhere. According to other owners, it's a common issue caused by the booster valve sticking shut and when I inquired about repair, I was quoted a part cost of 300 bucks which I don't have at all. Hopefully enough folks report this issue resulting in action taken by NHTSA even though the vehicle is almost 20 years old.
Tl the contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was previously modified with hutchinson wheels. The contact stated while driving at a slow speed, the front driver's side wheel detached without warning. The vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 500.

First the transmission failed right after I purchased the vehicle 2 years ago. I had to buy a new transmission that wasn't cheap around $3,500. Then the front wheel bearings started with the right side last year just had a ton of play in it my mechanic found it when lifting up my truck for a tire rotation. Then the left front wheel bearing just started making a load roaring noise but had no play in it at all that I could feel when checking it out. Both cost around $250 a wheel to replace. Now my 5. 3 liter engine is having a knocking sound when at a stop after driving about 30 minutes or when the engine is hot. Also I am hearing a slight ticking sound from the engine cold or hot. I have 4 small kids so I need a very reliable large vehicle and this is Suburban is driving me and my wife crazy having to poor money in this vehicle every year. I am the soil provider for my family I cant afford putting all my money into a vehicle like this.

Car brakes on its own when going above 40 mph causing the vehicle to pull to one side.
Due to the excessive braking necessary and the uneven braking that this vehicle has been recalled twice since sept. 2019, I have been experiencing excessive and uneven brake and tire wear. I have told the dealer multiple times since leasing this vehicle that it did not ride right and the steering wheel would shake every time I used the brakes. It always feels like I have to slam the brakes to even slow down. They fixed one recall and do not yet have the fix for my model year, for the second. The dealer has notes that I needed brake repair at 29,000 miles, but they did not inform me. I brought the car back 3 times since then, noting the exact same thing. At 36,000 miles they told me I am now down to the rotors and the pads and rotors need replacement due to uneven wear. I expressed concern due to the recalls and due to the fact that I have been telling them repeatedly about the driveability of this vehicle, I firmly stand that this is a direct product of the issue from the two recalls. The dealer tried to use scare tactics. I opened a case with chevy and I am getting no assistance. I am fearful in this car. I am going to get the brakes and tires done because my kids are in this vehicle, but what about after that, it will just keep happening because the on issue is not fixed and the other is not properly fixed. They do not seem to want to stand behind the product and I am guessing will not care when god forbid someone or someone's family is killed.

When driving my 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 at speeds under 10 mph in bumper-to-bumper traffic, the abs independently activated. This happened in dry weather on a freeway. When the abs independently activated, the car vibrated and accelerated with difficulty and jerked. The brakes locked up, causing a tire to blow out. The car caught fire where the brakes had locked up the front right wheel. The fire commander who examined the car after putting out the fire and the mechanic who is repairing the car both explained that improper abs activation led to a rupture in the brake line, exposing the leaking brake fluid to the heat generated by the locked brakes. This vehicle is experiencing the same problems as indicated in NHTSA recall 05v379000 concerning the abs system but is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The car had been taken to a gm dealer two months earlier (in July) with a complaint about the same problems with the abs system. The gm dealer did not mention the recall but made extensive (and expensive) repairs to the car. The car experienced the same problem again in September, when it led to the fire. This was not enough time or the right season for the abs to deteriorate from salt exposure since the July repairs. My car is probably excluded from the recall because it is registered in virginia. It should have been included because the car is registered in fairfax county, virginia, less than 15 miles from washington, d. C. And maryland. Fairfax county is further north than many parts of maryland and west virginia. The region has the same weather conditions, length of winter season, and exposure to salt as washington, d. C. , west virginia, and maryland, which are included in the recall. Residents of the area frequently drive in these states, particularly in washington, d. C. And maryland, where many virginia residents work, shop, and seek entertainment.

There is a vibration at the speed of 70-85. My breaking has issues. I press pedal and it feels like its "broke". I try and stop at times (more often than not) and I really have to press and its like the brakes are not stopping my vehicle at all. Very bumpy ride. Should be smoother and I think it has to do with the wheels and vibration. Vehicle was purchased April of 2019 and it seems to get worse. Husband has spoken with dealership and its just kind of blown off. We researched to trouble shoot and found many recalls that describe what is happening.

Had a flat tire on my light duty truck equipped with trailering capability. Truck spare tire is rated for temporary use only and slightly smaller than the tires on the truck. If the temporary use tire is on the front axle while towing a trailer at a speed if 55mph is it safe in an emergency braking situation ? is the majority of weight now on the front axle? gm told me the spare is 17 1/2 the regular tires are 18 the owners manual alert the owner not to use 4wd because of a smaller tire. Is it safe ? had tire fixed and went to costco and purchased a new full size tire to replace the repaired one.
Two of my four continental crosscut lx 20 dot a321 wbde 2516 blew out while driving. June 21, 2017 going straight on a residential road at 25 mph and on October 18, 2017 slowing down on highway to exit a ramp going 55mph. Both instances the dealership claims I hit something which caused the tire to blow out. I have owned for Suburbans and have never had a tire blow out until purchasing this car in July of 2016.

Car shakes at speeds over 65mph with no solution from dealer or Chevrolet after multiple trips to dealer for a permanent repair. Or response from Chevrolet customer service.
I just purchased this vehicle a month ago and already received a recall for the software airbag issue. I traded my 2010 chevy Suburban for this new one and have noticed that the moment I get onto the freeway and start to accelerate the car starts to vibrate so bad that anything in the middle console starts to rattle and the console will spill any drinks sitting there in the cupholders. I have owned chevy vehicles all my life and am very annoyed that this is happening. Something is seriously wrong. I also just noticed that there is a recall for the suspension recall 42190 and parts are not available at this time I just bought this vehicle in sept 2016 and it only has 800 miles on it and notices went out may-June 2016 and I was not made aware when I purchased this vehicle. I will also talk to the dealership according to this recall the vehicle should not be driven until its fixed. Who was going to tell me this had I not looked it up and not driving it is impossible its our only vehicle and were a family of 7. Four of those are my babies. I also will be taking it in due to the recall 16007. The vibration of the vehicle will also be discussed as well.
My 2012 Suburban has 90,000 miles. I had the lifters and oil pump go bad in October. Two weeks later I am back in the shop because the wheel bearing has gone bad. This is not covered under warranty. Also my dash is cracking. I had a 1999 Suburban and never had these problems.

The contact owned a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving at an unknown speed, smoke emitted from the engine compartment of the vehicle. The contact pulled over and discovered that the front end and front wheels were on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. Fire and police reports were filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 204,654.
My two rear goodyear wrangler ht lt245/75/r16 had rubber tread separation at 3257 miles, and 3420 miles. Outside temp was traveling on highway at 65 mph and 55 mph. Pulling an empty flatbed trailer at the time. No damage to vehicle.
Have had our vehicle in the dealership 3 times for road/tire vibration from ?tires or suspension. Dealership has changed 3 of 4 tires could not get road forced balances with 22 inch tires. Dealership claims bad batch of tires from bridgestone. Vibration has continued at speeds of 70-80 mph. It all began after the first service at 5792 mile and tire rotation. Vehicle was brought back to dealership advising of vibration in steering wheel and both front seats. Dealership claimed that they were not able to get tires balanced. Had to order 3 different sets of replacement tires with no prevail. Brought back again for second required service and dealership has rotated the tires for a second time.
Have p275/55 r20 bridgestone dueler h/l alenza tires with 25,600 miles on them, 10/32 of tread left and the dry rotting is horrible especially around the rim! contacted bridgestone directly to see if they had any active recalls and was basically brushed off as an ozone problem. The lady said bridgestone had no recalls on any of there tires. Very disappointed in bridgestone and concerned this could lead to a very bad blowout.
It wouldn't let me pick tires I have a set of 4 bridgestone deuler h/l and the tires have 2 tires have 6/32 of tread and the other 2 had 8/32 and on all 4 tires the belts are separating !!! I used to have a cdl license and drive tow trucks and if I got pulled over by the state whether it be by d. O. T. Or state police I would receive tickets and possibly be stuck at weigh station waiting for a tire repair service to show up !!.
I own a 2016 chevy Suburban ltz purchased Feb 29, 2016. It is now at the dealer and for a second time dealing with a vibration issue starting at approximately 43 mph and continuing to worsen as speed increases. The tires have been road forced balance but vibration is still present. This is the second Suburban with issues, the 2015 I had was so problematic that gm did trade assistance to get me out of it, but it still cost me money. The current 2016 Suburban as only 1600 miles on it and vibration issues began at approximately 900 miles. I cannot describe the inconvenience and frustration I am experiencing for a vehicle costing more than $70,000. Gm knows there is a problem and their lack of fixing it or addressing it is nothing short of criminal theft. They take people's money knowing their vehicles are sub-standard then relegate me to a pathetic loaner vehicle, tell me it is "normal" and in the end toss a little money for "trade assistance" resulting in another problematic issue. I beg and implore you as the federal regulatory agency to make gm accountable immediately. Either force them to immediately fix these vehicles, force them to buy them back at full purchase prices and stop them from selling them immediately. Frankly, this issue is the same as vw with tdi engines except that gm is not covering it up and feds are not forcing the hand. Help protect the money and lives of us citizens. There have been numerous complaints!.
Vibration at speeds of 70-80 mph. The tires have been road forced balanced 3 times still has the problem. The problem was noticed after the first service and tires rotated.
Purchased the truck in March 2013 with approx 63k miles on it. In November 2013, stabilitrak warning came on. Took to chevy dealer who replaced spark plug and new battery. In January 2015, stabilitrak warning light on again. Took truck immediately to dealer who hooked it up for diagnosis but did get any results. Light did not come on again until 9/8/15 when I was driving 70 mph on a highway. Service stabilitrak/service traction control/abs all lit up. Strange noise coming from right front tire area when I attempted to slow down to pull off the highway, had no brakes. Pedal literally went to the floor. Luckily there was an incline so my vehicle slowed enough to allow me to get off the highway. Pulled off onto an emergency area just past the toll booths and had to use my emergency brake to stop. Luckily, I didn't have my 4 small children with me like I usually do. Now the extended warranty company is trying to deny my claim for repairs saying that the rust was the cause. I had the vehicle looked at by a certified authorized dealer who didn't notice the rust and I also had the truck inspected in July per MA law for safety and emissions and there was no mention of rust even though they do a pretty thorough inspection yet I, the consumer, am at fault when my wheel rips apart from the hub while traveling 70 mph?!? this is obviously a huge problem. People in the northeast drive suvs -and come into contact with salt every winter. Isn't that the point of having an SUV?!?. Never again will I buy a gm and I will be sure to tell anyone and everyone I know to avoid them as well. Shame on gm for putting consumers in potentially life-threatening situations because of the obvious use of inferior materials. I hope the NHTSA takes a really close look at this problem and force gm to address it.
