37 Wheel problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

My two children and I where coming home from a wrestling tournament traveling on a highway doing about 65 mph. They were in the back seat. We all had seat belts on. I had a epileptic seizure and they said my foot hit the throttle so we might have be going faster when we hit. I last recall doing the speed limit. I went to the left and missed a power pole but hit the railroad tracks(these tracks are banked up on dirt and rock). Which caused the Suburban to some how roll 4 to 5 times down the tracks. We ended up on the other side of the tracks on our rims. Every tire was blown. Every window was shattered except the front it had a hole in a center of it which a railroad tie came thru. There are impressions of the railroad road tracks on the Suburban . The driver side of the Suburban is smash down to the driver head rest . I ended up with a broken neck. Thank goodness my kids seats were reclined in the back or their necks would have broke. Not one part of this Suburban is not smashed. Everything flew out of it when we rolled. My son had to crawl out the window and search on the ground to find cell phones that flew out of the Suburban when we wrecked to call 911. The side air bags failed my family. I always felt safe with them. But we rolled and they did not work. Even the front airbag didn't go off when I first hit the tracks. Besides my broken neck it all turned out good. I will never buy a chevy again. Our insurance company said our Suburban is totaled. Only thing worth anything is maybe the seats. Everything thing else is scap metal. If you'd like to see pitcures your welcome to contact us. But please check into these Suburbans. If we wouldn't have had seatbelts we would all be dead. My husband went and bought a 2015 Ford . I will never put my trust in a chevy again. Or airbags. I'm wondering if they just put a airbag sticker in them to make us feel safe. Thank you.

39 Wheel problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

I have a 2015 Suburban which had issues from day when my SUV cut off and wouldn't start because of a faulty battery. It had less than 100 miles on it. It had numerous recalls, I'm on my 3rd set of tires 275/55/20 cross contact eco which you only get 25000 miles if best. My entertainment system had to be replace before I had 20000 miles. The vibration is annoying and I've changed my tires again and it's still vibranting. After reading other complaints I now realize I' wasn't going crazy with the dizziness.

41 Wheel problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

The wheel bearings on the right front wheel became unsealed. We were driving on a four-lane highway. The antilock breaking and stabilitrack warning lights came on. We did not know why. We continued to drive home on the interstate with about 100 miles to go. The car steering became intermittently difficult to control. Eventually we stopped when the car was pulling drastically to the right and the wheel well was smoking. At this point the right front wheel was pointed toward a right turn while the left front wheel was pointed directly forward. We had to be towed to a Chevrolet dealership. After new bearings were installed, calipers replaced, etc. , the maintenance person at the dealership said that there was no reason to believe that the same thing would happen to the other front wheel. Nevertheless, the same thing did happen to the left front wheel six months later 800 miles from home except the sealed bearings made a "clunk" sound when it happened as we backed out of a parking lot. We investigated the location of Chevrolet dealerships and drove the car to a dealership about 30 miles away without incident.

Spare tire installed on vehicle to replace tire removed for valve stem cut. Used for several months with minimal mileage accumulated. Tire was in brand new condition with no visible tread wear. The tire failure and tread bent the rear quarter panel when it flew off the vehicle. The tire and tread were left at the firestone repair facility providing the replacement. Travel was on three lane I-78 east on sunny afternoon at 55 mph across from the tollbooths on western lanes. .

44 Wheel problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/23/2012

On 9/23/12 while changing a flat, it was discovered that the spare tire has rubbing on the side walls. The spare tire has never been used as we just bought the vehicle new. Brought this to the attention of the dealership on 9/24/12 as to how we should secure the spare without causing rubbing again. They advised they would look into it and call us back. Still have not heard anything. Concerned with continued rubbing on the side walls if we should ever need to use the spare again as it can blow out.

45 Wheel problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 07/20/2012

I received a letter dated July 2, 2012 that indicated that the tires I previously purchased from pepboys were defective and could blow apart while driving. The tires had dot serial number ut t6 pa7. So, I took the letter and vehicle back to pepboys but they were not aware of the recall. In any event, they did replace all four tires free of charge. However, it seems that are still selling the defective tires becase the tires they installed on my vehicle, for the second time, had dot serial ut t6 pa7. So, it appears that I am still driving on the highway with defective tires.

46 Wheel problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 03/26/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated her tires were constantly going flat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer stated that tire were not defective, the aluminum wheels had pitied and corrodes and would not hold the bead that hold pressure in the tire. The dealer stated the rims would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that this was an environmental issue. The failure mileage was 20,000. Az.

47 Wheel problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/17/2011

After 3 attempts to fix fix peeling chrome clad wheels the dealer cannot pinpoint the root cause. The dealer will not say either way as to weather or not there is a larger issue in which the integrity of the wheel is being compromised. I am concerned about this issue being more than just an appearance flaw . It seems as though the wheels its self may have stress cracks that cause this issue on the exterior of the wheels which is plastic and around the valve stem which is also plastic. Gm insist that there is no larger issue but will not comment on what is causing this issue. I am still questioning the motive for choosing to use plastic and aluminum instead of solid metal considering the overall weight of the vehicle it does not seem to be safe or even close to being safe.

48 Wheel problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/18/2010

The "chrome clad" wheels on my 2010 Suburban started showing air pocket and I now know Chevrolet went the cheap route and put a plastic cover on the wheels for the 75th diamond edition 2010 Suburbans.

49 Wheel problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/11/2009

We were driving back from the airport, 60 miles from our home. Before we left the airport area we heard a noise. As we are headed home approximately 20 miles down the road the stability notification and the abs lights come on. First time they had come on. Every now and then we hear a noise coming from the front left wheel. The notification and lights cut off and on all the way to our destination. Approximately 6 miles from our home, we hear a noise as if something came off but yet the Suburban was driving okay for the exception of noise and grinding. We decided to keep driving as we are in a horrific construction zone. The next day I call for an appt for inspection at a private wheel and brake shop for an estimate. They said I had extensive damage to the wheel hub assemblies and the front wheel tire was just about to fall off. They said they were even apprehensive about making it from the outside of the building, inside. I call the dealership. They said it there was not a recall on the hub assemblies and it would cost app $560 to $600 per wheel for repair. I could not afford this so I took it to repair at the wheel shop. My vehicle had approximately at the time 54,000 miles. I do have the old parts for inspection.

50 Wheel problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/15/2003

Windshield wiper/motor problem is the same as with the earlier Suburbans on the recall list. The recall only addresses '97 and back, not 1998. What can be done about getting this year added. There are other complaints with this same problem with this year and later.
