general problems of the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe

Three problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2013

Vehicle stop shut down complete with jerking before shutting down stop pulling and lost all power now service engine light is on and anti-lock brake light is on and want shift into second gear as if something is wrong with transmission.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/23/1998

Recall 96v05700, manufacturer's recall 96-c-26; vehicle would not crank after dealer had just repaired car. Jump started the car, engine started racing as fast as it could go, sparks came out from under the hood, tapping on the gas to get the engine to stop racing, pressed on the brakes and the car kept going. Slammed into park, driver was injured in incident. Opened the hood and white smoke appeared. Dealer contacted, and will not respond to calls. Stated they cannot find a problem.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/19/1998

Truck was hit from behind and knocked into another car, then the truck accelerated while driver had foot on brake hitting same vehicle again. That vehicle was pushed to the service lane, and truck hit vehicle in front of it. The truck is being repaired.
