I was turning onto the street where my residence is located, making a right turn (passenger side), and I heard a very loud "pop" on the passenger side of the vehicle interior. Upon pulling into my driveway, I activated the interior lights of the vehicle for further inspection. I discovered my dash cracked from the passenger side airbag down into the front defogger vent. I have researched this issue and it seems that it is quite widespread.
Dash cracked where the passenger air bag is located. I fear that the air bags will puncture if deployed or the passenger wil be injured due to dash pieces being projected at them.
1. Lift gate failed and hurt my arm on or about Jan 1 2014. I need repaired ASAP! 2. Dashboard cracked above steering column and cracked by air bag passenger side. I need repaired ASAP. Gm refused to acknowledge thousands of consumers having the same effects to their dashboard. 3. Timing chain went off time and bent a cylinder which caused serious damage 9/2014 cost of damages at approximate 4500. 00 gm refused to acknowledge deficiencies. I paid out of pocket the 4500. 00 with no assistance. I also paid 250. 00 for estimates at the gm dealer in kingston mass. They refused to help and give assistance on any of these 3 major safety problems after submitting the dealer bona fide report.
The dashboard has cracked on the passenger side above the airbag. I noticed this defect approximately 2 years ago. I keep it in the garage most of the time, out of the sun.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that there was a large crack on the dashboard near the passenger's side air bag housing area. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician informed the contact that the dashboard would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. My 2007 chevy Tahoe ltz has developed cracks in the dashboard on the passenger and driver side. The passenger side crack is near the airbag deployment space and the driver side airbag runs from the back to the front of the dash. I am concerned about the airbag having difficulty deploying in an accident or pieces of the dashboard breaking away in it's current state that may turn into projectiles.
Pass takata air bag recall with no part availability and multiple cracks in my dash.
I noticed a couple of large cracks in the dash after purchase. This vehicle is prone to dash cracks due to faulty plastic (online research). I'm concerned there may be a safety hazard with the crack around the airbag.
My Tahoe has many cracks in the dashboard that is showing electrical components. The cracks been there for a while and I take really good car of my car. I am afraid if the airbag deploys flying objects could injure me more. I just noticed that it's a common problem for chevy Tahoes. Please help us Tahoe owners. Thank you!.
Dash board cracked driver side.
I purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2wd, lt1 on 02/20/2013. I immediately noticed that the chrome on the interior door handles was flaking off. I received a cut to my hand when opening one of the interior doors. Both the driver and passenger interior door handles are coming apart. I have read several complaints online with this model and it appears that no one has done anything about it. There is also a crack in the dash between the defrost vent and the airbag on the passenger side. A search of the internet reveals several complaints from hundreds of consumers who have reported these same flaws with this same model. Also, the trim on the steering wheel and radio buttons are peeling off. The 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe seems to be plagued with these three part failures and someone needs to look into this. A cut may not seem severe, until the cut doesn't heal properly, leaves permanent scarring and possibly the added threat of infection. I have taken this vehicle to my local Chevrolet dealer who stated that these issues were not covered by any warranty or recall. I am interested in a class action lawsuit to correct these flaws. This is the 3rd Tahoe I have owned and considered myself a loyal Tahoe owner. This is the only model year that I have ever had an issue with. I have photographs showing the flaws and associated vehicle mileage.
Cracked dash.
There is a crack on my dash left of driver hump and one in front of the passenger airbag. I have found that almost all people have had this happen in their Chevrolet Tahoes and silverados and mine just happened to happen after warranty. I need this fixed.
First owner of this vehicle. Noticing substantial cracks in the plastic dashboard including near the passenger air bag site. Could lead to possible tearing of airbag or plastic being thrown towards passengers if airbag were to deploy. Also have an issue with chrome peeling from the exterior door handles causing cuts to the hands when opening the door. Vehicle has not been abused in any way or used as a work truck. Has also been garage kept.
Gm has a safety issue with dashboards cracking near where the airbag deploys on the passenger side of the vehicles. There is also cracking on the left side of the instrument pod. All cracks are in identical areas of these same model years and newer. I have 2 vehicles (2007 Tahoe and 2007 avalanche with same cracks and will file 2 complaints).
Upon purchasing my 2007 Tahoe used I noticed 2 cracks on dashboard. The one on the passenger side is cracked at corner of airbag which is concerning due to an airbag deployment shards of plastic could be turn ed into projectiles. Noticed there are many, many of the same vehicles with identical cracks and locations of them. Thanks.
Dashboard has cracked on the passenger side corner above the airbag. Dash has not been subjected to stress / pressure. It appears to be a manufacturer defect as this has happened to many individuals online. I fear that this crack will expand and can potentially affect the passenger airbag itself. As this vehicle is a '07 model, it should not crack after less than 5 years normal wear and tear.
The dashboard cracked 4 inches on driver side hump next to airbag.
Noticed a crack on the dash board right above the gauge cluster. Have a family member with the same vehicle and saw that their vehicles dash was full of cracks and decided to research the issue. I found blogs and videos through out the internet of people all around with the same problem. My main concern is that I have also found that the next crack in the dash I will see will be on the corner of the dash at the passenger air bag. I'm afraid this could affect the proper deployment of the air bag.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that she noticed the dashboard cracking near the air bag. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and they advised her that she needed a new dashboard. The manufacturer was later contacted and stated they were aware of the failure but there were no recalls on that component. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000. The current mileage was approximately 59,000. The VIN was unavailable.
This is the second time that the dashboard cracked. I boought the Tahoe in 04/13/2010 and had 25,967 miles in June 7, 2011 after paying $350. 00 for labor the dealer replaced the dashboard and now a year and four months it is cracked again and I spoke with a services person at the dealer and they told me it is been a year and there is not coverage for. I'm very upset I just can't believe that it only lasted a year so if I spent my money fixing this again how long will it take till it brakes again.
Two cracks located on the dash. One is located on the left hand side of the driver side "hump" and the other is located on the left hand side of the passenger side airbag and connects from the airbag to the vent. I am concerned that these will effect airbag deployment if a crash occurs. I have read multiple complaints of the same nature on the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoes.
The driver information computer screen and prnd321 lights have failed. The dashboard inside has cracked in two areas.
The dash has cracked behind the passenger side air bag for no apparent reason. I am afraid if the bag deploys it will throw the piece as a projectile and hit the passenger. Many complaints on the internet, gm is selectively assisting in repair. I was informed they would not help me because I have an aftermarket radio and alarm, neither of which is anywhere near the passenger side.
Dashboard is cracked and falling apart.
Dash cracked on left side of steering wheel hump. A few months later the dash cracked on the upper left side of passenger air bag.
Dash has multiple cracks around the airbag on the passenger side and one crack in dash above the instrument cluster.
Upon inspection of the dashboard it has cracked both above the steering wheel on the left side and at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side. I am concerned that if this cracks any worse the airbag may deploy and injure a passenger or it may cause the steering column to malfunction if the dashboard falls. Chevy should be recalling this so that no one is injured.
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Consumer states several issues with vehicle and request information on recalls, service bulletins, warranties or lemon law the consumer stated the cruise control down shifted to 2nd while driving at highway speeds and on hills, the starter would hang, there was a noise coming from the ac compressor. The transmission was replaced. However, it continued to hesitate after the vehicle was started, as well as a vibration. There was a clicking noise coming from the differential, the idle needle would rise, while at a stop, the battery drained, the engine stalled, the dash was cracked, there was a problem with the suspension, the tire pressure monitoring system was repaired three times, the passenger side mirror was inoperable, the weather strip had come off the vehicle and there was a clicking noise coming from the u-joint.
My dash is cracking in two places above my airbags. The cracks are causing my dash to bulge. It has been brought to my attention that numerous 2007 Tahoe's and yukon's all have dash cracks in the same areas. I have contacted gm about this problem and have not received any help. I am worried it will affect my airbags deploying.
Both of my children have been cut several times on numerous occasions by the peeling of the chrome on the door handles in the back seats. The dash is cracking which I have seen this complaint on many many 2007 gm SUV's. Would like to see something done about these problems since it happens to be a big complaint by many owners.
There is a 10inch crack in the hump of the dash above my odometer. I have an 07 chevy Tahoe with about 40k. I contacted a chevy dealer and they said it was not a chevy problem.
I do not feel safe driving my 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe as the front dashboard has split open and cracked in multiple places. They appear to be stress fractures, or weaknesses in the way the dashboard is manufactured. I have looked at the internet, and there are many others with the same issue, where their dashboards develop stress fractures and split open. The dashboard has two main problem areas; on the passenger side around the air bag opening, and then again over the "hump" that comes up and over the instrument cluster. This crack in particular is very bad, with these cracks splitting off in different directions. The dashboard is now very weak and has no structural integrity. I would not feel safe if this vehicle was in a crash, as the dashboard would provide no support to protect occupants, and the plastic parts of the dashboard would go flying throughout the cabin. Chevrolet needs to take responsibility of this and replace the dashboard.
Dash board cracked in several areas. Pieces have fall off and are very sharp.
