The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at slow speeds into a parking area, the passenger's side of the vehicle collapsed, rendering the vehicle inoperable. The contact stated that shortly afterwards, roadside assistance arrived to tow the vehicle and observed that the frame had split down the center. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 240,000. The VIN was not available.
