Adaptive Cruise Control Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe

Control algorithm issue. Unexpected acceleration. Not confirmed by dealer. I experienced it twice. Google gemini sems to know about this. No inspections performed. No warnings. There is a safety issue with the 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe adaptive cruise control. My observation: on a previous drive, I used the adaptive cruise control with it set at highway speed. I disengaged it as I got off the highway using the brake pedal and arrived at my destination via city streets. I turned the vehicle off, exited and locked it. Later, I re-entered the vehicle, started it and began slow speed maneuvering (<5mph) in my driveway, where in, I accidentally bumped the cruise control “resume” switch, at which time the vehicle began to accelerate, unexpectedly. I stepped on the brake to regain control. No accident occurred. This happened a second time upon my return from the local supermarket. In my opinion, the cruise control should return to the off mode when the engine is turned off and not remain “on” and ready to “resume” after the engine has been cycled. The current operating mode is unsafe.

On December 19th while driving home from work (5 miles) the engineer ne had rough starts while in auto stop at each light and stop sign. Not enough to cause huge concerns. Two days later on December 21st we traveled to my mother in laws house 2 hours away. Upon returning home we noticed that the cruise control would not turn on, we pulled over and wiped the sensors even though the car was clean. 25 minutes later there was a metal on metal noise coming from the front end. The noise was heard when letting off the gas pedal. It sounded like a metal fan grinding at a high speed on a tin roof. We pulled over at a parking lot off the side of the road and opened the hood. When attempting to turn the car back on the noise from the engine was the same and it promptly shut down again. The car was towed and determined that the engine blown at 2,333 miles on the obo. No warning lights ever came on and the oil pressure seemed normal. There are still no notifications on the chevy app and it still says all is well. Even after the motor is replaced I will not feel safe driving my kids even to school. What happens when we’re driving to denver for my daughters all state choir and it blows again? what happens if we are traveling at an interstate speed and it causes an accident? I do not want to have to replace the motor twice more just to have gm buy it back. This motor design is going to kill someone and something needs to be done. I have a finance loan of $101,000 for a dangerous car that I will never feel safe in and trading it in we will lose out on $4k in registration and somebody else will buy it and they will be in danger as well. A recall for a buyback for all with the 6. 2 l Tahoe engine needs to happen.

Driving along the highway in cruise control at about 70mph without any trailer being pulled. Suddenly I got brake errors. Abs, esc, trailer brake error failures all popped on the dash warnings. Brakes were unresponsive only applying hard pressure to the brake pedal was effective. There was zero feedback from the brake pedal to myself on it engaging and braking effectively. If this happened in a situation requiring more immediate braking, I would not have been able to figure out the braking capability of my vehicle in time. There were no issues with my vehicle at the time. I see that similar issues have been reported on facebook "chevy Tahoe owners group". Unknown whether it's a sensors glitch or a sw issue. After a few hours of being parked the car brake system started to work properly again. Made an appointment to check out they system at the dealership.

1st. While driving at highway speeds my vehicle disengaged from adaptive cruise control when no cars were in view of sensors. However, cars were behind me, making it a little scary. Happened once but I haven't had my vehicle to know if it would happen again. 2nd. Car has a vibration at speeds of 30 to 40 mph. Vehicle has literally been at dealership since February 10th, 2025 with no eta for valve body in sight.

When driving the dash panel all arrows go to zero, disconnects cruise and just about everything else on your list above. We have had it to the dealer many times over three months and I am concerned that when the system drops out my safety devices that it says check will not work if I’m in a collision. The list is to long to list. Our local Chevrolet dealer is george nahas in the villages florida. Please help.

Onstar telematics module failure. Part is on backorder with no eta. This module failure removes the navigation, onstar services including safety notifications, clocks can stop working, android auto/apple carplay services are not functional or intermittently working. My vehicle has stalled out at a red light. Gm is refusing to cover the replacement saying it is out of the bumper to bumper to warranty but they have so many of these needing replaced they can't say when they will get the parts. Module has been confirmed dead by a mechanic at a private shop and by the dealership. Gm states this is under the bumper to bumper to warranty even though it controls parts of the power train and should be covered under powertrain warranty as well.

It’s happened about 10 times since I’ve owned the car but the dealer can’t recreate it so we are out of luck. The vehicle accelerates on its own. Scenario 1…with constant light steady acceleration, it will lurch forward like I’ve stomped on the accelerator a bit, for about a second then go back to my normal input. Scenario 2, same lurch but this time while coming to a stop at a stop sign with my foot on the brake pedal only. Scenario 3…I’ve been using the adaptive cruise control and had it disengaged by braking, coming to a stop, then parking and turning the vehicle off. Then after getting back in and starting up and slowly pulling forward, the cruise control suddenly and abruptly renegages and attempts to accelerate to the last demanded setpoint. Image this scenario pulling out of a spot at a crowded gas station with pedestrians. I almost ran someone the hell over just now at the gas station and I’ve had enough. The dealer won’t do anything and when I called chevy engineering they put zero effort into it, it was a 20 second phone call stating if it can’t be reproduced at the dealer there’s nothing they can do. This is absolutely completely 100% dangerous and unacceptable.

On several occasions the following warnings will pop up. Service stabilitrack, tighen gas cap, service trailer brake system, automatic collision prep unvailable, and the check engine light will come on. Then the dashboard lights will flicker on/off, the montior will turn black, the doors will unlock and lock. It has happened when I am going 70 mph down the freeway. And on several occassions the car engine will turn off/stall as I am either pulling into an intersection, parking spot or coming to a stop. I will take it to the shop and have the check engine code scanned/turned off and it will be fine for a week and then start again.
