1 Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/02/2022

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph with the adaptive cruise control activated, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. The contact indicated that after the adaptive cruise control reduced the speed due to a nearby vehicle instead of resuming the intended speed, the vehicle lost motive power in the middle of the busy highway and would not restart. The tow truck was called to the scene and discovered that the transmission could not be shifted into neutral(n). The vehicle had to be dragged onto the flatbed of the tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,608.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 08/27/2020

Wow. I am seeing all my same issues so thought I better enter my info as well. First the horn was all of a sudden blaring without anyone being in it in the middle of the night 2. 5 years ago and now I do not have a horn, and none of the controls work on the steering wheel including the radio and cruise control (I question if the air bag is active on the driver side because of this). Then, the rear lift gate all of a sudden will not open (maybe last winter). 6 months ago, the indicators on the dash are out so I can't see my odometer or anything else you can access on the dash. Recently the passenger side window just randomly fell off the track. Recently, everything on the driver's side door does not work electrically: power door lock, and power window. And I find that gm will not address at a minimum the electrical issues? not good.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 04/03/2019

Driving east on I-20 after sierra blanca checkpoint starting the incline uphill. I was on left lane, had cruise control set at 80 as per speed limit. On my right a semi just a vehicle away, at my rear another semi also on right lane. Front truck started right exit turn signal and just when he started to exit at curve, my vehicle slowed down to 52 in about 2 seconds and semi behind me switched to my lane to avoid semi exiting interstate, semi slammed on his brakes while switching to my lane, hit the horn and I could see the smoke from his tires locking up. My vehicle shifted down to second gear and sped up to 80 mph in about 4 seconds. My vehicle detected the semi on the right lane at the curve, me not knowing if my brakes lights came on as soon as my speed dropped. Had my vehicle not sped up right away, the semi would have crashed my vehicle at the curve.

5 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

Upon purchase of a new 2015 Tahoe I observed the possibility of a problem with the forward collision alert system (fca). I reported this to the service manager at Chevrolet. On 9 April 2015 the service manager, assistant service manager, master technician, and I took the vehicle for a test drive. While driving the vehicle at moderate highway speeds I demonstrated the various phases and operation of vehicle detection. The fca has plenty of sensitivity and detects vehicles in excess of the specified distance in the owner¿s manual which is not an issue. At a moderate closing rate between vehicles the instrument cluster icon changes from green to amber-orange which appears nominal. However, the red alarm heads-up windshield display, rapid high-pitched beeps and red icon are never activated until a closing distance about ~3 feet before a collision. There is virtually zero reaction time for a driver to brake the vehicle at less than one car length before going to red. In addition, the system is supposed to disengage the adaptive cruise control (acc). Considering time, rate, and distance this is ineffective as the mass and kinetic energy also needs to fully disengage before a potential collision. Because of the danger of creating a traffic incident the vehicle was not tested to the level of a full collision. I was informed by the service manager that there are no service bulletins, adjustments, or software patches that may correct this deficiency by the dealer. Gm stated that the system works as designed and delivered. The gm forward collision alarm (fca) delivered product appears to have a design deficiency and is an operational safety hazard waiting to happen. If the fca does not function properly then why introduce it to a consumer regardless of gm owner manual warnings about trusting alert systems.

6 Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

Driving on the interstate (I-90 mt), on cruise control, braking for a car in front going slower, found that no braking occurred, sudden acceleration to 90 mph, tried to change gears, turn off engine, pump brakes without results, then glancing blow to vehicle in front, no airbags deployed, bailed off road into burrow pit, eventually slowed. See karl tyler workorder #342136.

7 Cruise Control problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

The dashboard is cracked in multiple areas causing rattling and plastic bits breaking off and falling into the dash area. I'm concerned this poorly structured dash will lose integrity enough to cause damage or potentially cause electrical malfunctions in other areas underneath the dash. This poor dash design is well known in the Tahoe community. The cruise control works sometimes and completely doesn't work other times. There is no consistency of when it will work or not work. When I hit the initial start up button on the steering wheel, the light on the wheel will light up. However, if I hit the 'set' button on the wheel, the actual cruise control will sometimes activate and the light on the dash will come on confirming it is set and working. But sometimes when I hit the 'set' button, nothing happens and the cruise control never activates. This is at any speed.

8 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the cruise control failed to operate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000.

9 Cruise Control problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 06/27/2013

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the cruise control engaged automatically. The speed of the vehicle increased and the contact was unable to stop the vehicle. The contact merged to the shoulder of the road, powered off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 83,978.

10 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 04/12/2012

The battery gauge will drop or fluctuate. It does not occur immediately, but after driving for a couple minutes. Once the battery gauge drops many things are affected. The car hesitates to increase speed, braking is affected, cruise control is affected. The cruise control will turn on unexpectedly at times. When needing to accelerate it hesitates and once it goes the engine puts out more than is needed or expected. Braking is slow and pulsates slightly as the transmission is downshifting. The battery and alternator have been checked and appear to be in working order and nothing wrong with either of them.

11 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Consumer states several issues with vehicle and request information on recalls, service bulletins, warranties or lemon law the consumer stated the cruise control down shifted to 2nd while driving at highway speeds and on hills, the starter would hang, there was a noise coming from the ac compressor. The transmission was replaced. However, it continued to hesitate after the vehicle was started, as well as a vibration. There was a clicking noise coming from the differential, the idle needle would rise, while at a stop, the battery drained, the engine stalled, the dash was cracked, there was a problem with the suspension, the tire pressure monitoring system was repaired three times, the passenger side mirror was inoperable, the weather strip had come off the vehicle and there was a clicking noise coming from the u-joint.

12 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 07/04/2011

While driving with cruise control enabled traveling at 70 mph with rpm at 2000 rpm, the 2007 Tahoe surged, jerked if you will, as if the cruise control was telling the vehicle it was going too slow. Hitting the brakes did not disengaged cruise control. Engine raced to 4000 rpm and locked at 4000 rpm! successfully shifted vehicle to neutral and was able to maneuver vehicle off the road and I can only hope the next person this happens to will be as lucky. Had to turn vehicle off to reduce engine rpm from the 4000 rpm it was locked on. Called on star and informed them of what happened and they ran a test which indicated no problem. Vehicle would not restart on first four attempts. Disabled cruise control button on steering wheel, which was glowing yellow, and the engine started. Gm customer service contacted, file 71-965035291 and gm refused to replace cruise control as the local dealer in san angelo TX indicated they could not duplicate the concern. If should be noted it was 104 degrees and the engine had been running for over an hour and 100 miles with the vehicle loaded with 5 people and luggage. The local dealer did not duplicate the exact conditions and instead did a test drive of 60 miles without the load or high temperature. Talked to sarah at 866 790 8601 ext 12869 and she passed me on to victoria, david, and then back to victoria. I am an equipment engineer and victoria did not appear to have any technical knowledge. Gm did not take my offer to remove my cruise control so they could bench test the unit and add heat to drive the faulty component to fail. Gm, specifically victoria, wants to wait until someone else has the same problem. I know this lack of action by chevy/gm seems hard to believe but the description I have provided is accurate.

13 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 12/26/2008

After coming off cruise control at 55 mph and proceeding through town, I hit the resume button to once again increase speed from 45 mph to 55 mph but while on a road with a slight incline (less than 5% grade. ) after pressing and quickly releasing the resume button as I normally do, the cruise control accelerated unintentionally and proceeded to increase speed to over 101 mph before I disengaged it. This has happened at least 3 times on this vehicle and in the past I always would disengage it immediately but seeing as how I was on an open road I figured I would see if it would disengage itself. When I felt I was going way too fast to talk a policeman out of a ticket and actually didn't feel safe any longer I disengaged the cruise control after figuring that it wasn't going to disengage itself until the speed limiter was reached. This vehicle has 54000 miles on it and the only thing that has been done on it was the dash was replaced under a recall when the speedometer went to malfunctioning. I have called gm and reported this but they have indicated they have never heard of this problem in the past. I use the cruise control in probably about 80% of my driving and this has happened on 3 occasions (all with my family in the car) and on longer trips (after driving for more than 1 hour) in excess of 75 miles.

14 Cruise Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

After getting the required software update from gm, my 2008 hybrid Tahoe has had multiple episodes of uncontrolled acceleration when driving on cruise control. When using cruise control at around 30mph and when reaching an incline that requires slight acceleration to maintain speed, the vehicle "floors" itself, downshifts and accelerates aggressively. I've had to jump onto the brakes to avoid launching forward. If I had been in a situation where I was close to another vehicle or other object, or if I had not been paying close attention, the truck could easily have accelerated rapidly causing a crash.

15 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/23/2007

The contact stated while driving his 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe at 70 mph and using the cruise control and after he coming to a complete stop, the speedometer read 48 mph. While accelerating the speedometer increased to 120 mph and was inconsistent with the speed he was driving. The contact has an appointment scheduled for repair.

16 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

My Chevrolet Tahoe, despite regular maintenance per schedule, loses on quart of oil every 2500 miles. There are no leaks, smoking exhaust etc. The dealership told me this is a well known problem of unknown origin. The electrical systems on the vehicle have been a nightmare. The ignition will at times fail to turn off despite removing the key. The cruise control will pop out of cruise mode for no reason and will often fail to reengage immediately. Lithia Chevrolet in redding refuses to discuss repair or replacement, stating it is not their problem. I also have a recalled takata airbag that lithia refuses to replace.

17 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 12/12/2006

2004 Chevrolet Tahoe . Speedometer sticks at 70 mph, then decreases to 40 mph and ultimitely falls to 0 mph even thoughthe cruise control is set at 70 mph. Other times the speedometer works fine for a while until the vehicle slows down, then it drops to 0mph, although the vehicle is moving. Ak.

18 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 10/08/2006

Driving vehicle on the 7th day of ownership with cruise control on. On a slight down grade vehicle accelerated 20 mph over set cruise speed before I shut cruise off. The next morning, the vehicle continued accelerating after I took my foot off the gas at a light causing vehicle to crash into another vehicle. Chevy dealer in henderson, nv handled very poorly. Nearly two months after crash, gm called me and stated that their 3rd party independent evaluation (done by a retired gm employee) of the vehicle and its computers doesn't show any failure or malfunction to verify my claim. Gm can say what they want. I know what happened and my wife and family witnessed the accident. Gm had no interest in talking to them. For their protection, I'll take a loss and trade the vehicle as soon as I get it back. Just wanted a public record of situation in case of any future similar incidents. Ironically, I was impressed by vehicle and quality the week I had it. The report gm sent me appeared to confirm what I said happen, but they said not.

19 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/10/2005

The dashboard has two cracks one over the steering wheel and one over the passenger side air bag. I also have the light on and off saying (air bag service required) and the cruise control n has not been working neither for like 2 years all. It is a safety issue and concern when I travel with my family and this issue should be addressed immediately. Thank you eppi.

20 Cruise Control problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/20/2004

Upon setting the cruise control vehicle accelerated at higher speeds then expected. Updated 11/16/bf the consumer stated the cruise control was set at 65 mph, but the vehicle accelerated over 85 mph. The consumer was able to disengage the cruise control, by applying the brake. Updated 11/24/10.

22 Cruise Control problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 04/21/2003

Cruise control does not work after 3 different modules were replaced by dealer. Works initially but after few days stops functioning. Maybe electrical problem shorting out cruise module. Chevrolet not questioning 3 modules replacements in 1 year's time.
