When I turn there is a popping noise that can also be felt in the steering wheel also when I am driving and feel a bump. The fuel will at times show a full tank then all of a sudden go to 1/4 tank it changes all the time and is not accurate, I cannot depend on it because I never really know how much fuel it actually has. The driver seat heater got extremely hot and and we will not use because are scared it might burn thru the seat since it already left a small burn mark. The problem with the steering wheel on this particular vehicle also did the same on another Chevrolet we had and have researched online and it seems is a big issue with Chevrolet vehicles.

I have a 2003 Tahoe z71 with leather seats. My wife noticed a smell and thought it was exhaust. I drove the vehicle and it did not smell that way all the time. We finally found the problem by my wife getting burnt. Her seat heater was getting way too hot and produced a burning smell. It got so hot that it left a burnt mark on the leather seat and burnt her back and that's when we figured out that it was what was causing the smell. Be careful when you turn on those front seat heaters. Will report to Chevrolet.
Outside temp below freezing so I heated up my 1998 chevy Tahoe (including heated leather seats on low setting) and when I returned to my vehicle less than 5 minutes later, driver's seat was on fire. Vehicle has less that 90,000 miles and has not been mistreated. I happened to have a drink in my hand so I poured it on the seat to put it out. Had I actually been sitting on the seat, I could have been seriously burned.

: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the heated seat on the driver's side engaged without warning. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the heated seat switch and control module needed to be replaced. After the replacements, the problem persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. Updated 10/16/2006 - when the vehicles ignition switch was on, the driver's seat heater turned on. This occurred anytime the vehicle was running. The consumer disconnected to power supply to the heated seat.
: the consumer stated after using the heated seat for one and a half miles, it shorted out. This caused minor burns to the driver. An independent repair shop determined the seat cover needs to be replaced.

I own a 2001 chevy Tahoe. On October 5th, 2005 I smelled something burning. When I parked my car and pulled a file folder off the seat, it was singed and there was smoke coming from the passenger seat. There was also a brown burn mark and the leather seat was melted. I went to an appointment, making sure there were no indicator lights on. Two hours later I started the car and the smoke began again, this time much worse. I went to sandberg Cadillac; they were going to charge me $110 to disconnect the seat. The service manager had gotten into the car to move it and said the seat was still smoldering. They tore the seat out of the car and there was a fire under the leather. At that time the $110 discussion was dropped. I made a comment to the 5 gentleman that this is under warranty, but isn't this safety issue all agreed. Steve and I went back inside and he arranged for a loaner car, through enterprise. Sergio said that he would be putting a call into his gm rep and that he would talk to them about covering the expense of the seat and getting my car back to the original condition of before the fire. There was chemical smoke damage on the interior which dan; the technician assured me they had a machine that would be able to get rid of that smell. October 6th, I speak with sergio and after speaking with the gm rep he is not willing to cover the damage and the extended warranty will cover the hardware, but not the actual seat cushion or cover. At this time we are looking at $1000 worth of damage not including the any rental car expense. I at that time requested a corporate number and reached a bruce mitchell. I gave him the details of the incident and he assured me that someone would be in contact with me between 24 and 48 hours. I am now at the 48 hour mark and have heard nothing.
Our seat warmer burned thru our front drivers seat. There is a large hole in our seat. I am not sure of the exact day that this happened. . . We have had a lot of things going on this summer with my husband having open heart surgery and I then having surgery so I am just getting this to you now. I am not sure if there is anything that can be done about this or not but I do not want anyone to get hurt.
