Seats Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe - part 1

2nd row seat doesnt latch sometimes or gets stuck in the down position sparking a concern for my child’s safety…I would like for this to be a goodwill safety bulletin or recall if at all possible! thank you.

The sliding center console/armrest in my 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe moves too easily and does not remain securely locked in place when fully extended forward. Even light pressure, such as when a passenger or driver rests an elbow, can cause it to shift suddenly. This can startle the driver and cause a momentary loss of focus, creating a safety hazard while the vehicle is in motion. When the console is fully extended forward, it should lock in position. In my vehicle, it often fails to stay locked, allowing unintended movement in each direction. This happens during normal driving conditions and can be triggered accidentally by an occupant’s elbow or arm. The sudden movement is distracting, especially at highway speeds, and could contribute to an unsafe driving situation. Gm issued TSB pie0677b in April 2022 describing this exact condition (“power floor console armrest will not lock in place and/or console lid slides back and forth freely”), indicating they are aware of the defect. However, there has been no recall. Given the potential for distraction and loss of control, this should be addressed as a safety recall.

3rd row headrest- not staying upright was recalled prior to current condition not upright 2nd row seat- adjustment cable broken no longer working transmission- pump and valve body failed required replacement.

3rd row seat headrest will not stay up. Unable to sit in the seat due to headrest bending forward.

[xxx] occupant was sitting in the rear driver side bucket seat and operator was able to use the automatic buttons near the tailgate and fold down the seat onto occupant. Occupant received a bruise on the forehead and potential back injury. There should be a safety guard to prevent the chair from folding when an occupant or object is in the seat. My vehicle is experiencing the same issue with the third row headrests as outlined in a prior service bulletin (n202316750) for the same model year and make vehicle. My VIN number was not included in the bulletin, but I believe it should have been. The passenger side third row headrest will no longer stay up when the seat is engaged.

2nd row seat and 3rd row head rest will not stay up.

The indicator light 'service safety restraint system' beeps and comes on about every 5 minutes when driving. Sometimes it doesn't come on at all. There is no rhyme or reason for why it happens.

Frequently getting warning message on main info display stating "service safety restraint system". This is consistent with a message and service bulletin issued for 2021 Tahoes where there is an issue with the connector for the airbag under the seat.

Vehicle is displaying service safety restraint system error message which may affect airbag deployment. Dealer advised problem from gm with a harness being too short under seat and seat adjustment can disconnect srs system which could fail during an accident. Advised no recall but repair parts were not currently available.

I bought my 2003 chevy Tahoe used and as is at a dealership for $10,000. Yes, I've been robbed. The truck is in great looking condition. Has a little bit of superficial dings and a couple dents but overall exterior is great. Interior isn't shabby. Has wear on the driver's seat but not bad. The first thing that happened, I was on my way to work at 4 in the morning, turned on right blinker to change lanes, about blinded the guy in front of me with high beam lights. I thought I had bumped the switch, I took the right to get off at my exit I was more mindful. Definitely not a me thing. The high beam came on with the right blinker. So, the next thing. Cd player runs continuously without a disc in. I cannot put a disc in. There may be discs already in there, it is a 6 disc changer, but it will not play. The radio has a mind of its own. Plays what it wants at anytime its on. My husband drove it, tried to adjust the driver's seat and all it did was growl at him. It doesn't move except forward and back. My speedometer had a glitch one time. I was driving at 35mph and it showed 60mph. I turned it off, then back on, hasn't done that again. My heater works but it's difficult to change the individual temp settings. Almost as if the push buttons are worn inside or have a bad connection. The air conditioner only works when I'm on the freeway and not in stop and go traffic. The first time I turned on the ac, it blew all hot air for longer than 10 minutes. Halfway home I turned it on again but kept the button in off setting, I have cold air. There is a loud popping underneath when I turn left. Also, dropped into 4h driving down the highway at 65mph. Thought I was going to die. I have to drive in auto all wheel because the buttons are messed up. In 2h or 4h I get 4l. It is a mess. The dash is confused. 4 wheel does not go in easily, it bangs when it goes in and comes out. It really isn't safe but I was soaked on the price, I am female and first purchase. Should have bought a Ford.

Airbag picture showed on dash. After several dealership appointments, the code b0014 04 was found. Driver seat airbag deployment exhibits high resistance due to faulty electrical jumper wire connections and may not deploy upon impact.

The cable on the rear passenger seat is broken and can't get seat down to escape in an emergency.

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the second-row passenger's side seat cover made a loud cracking noise. The contact stated that the failure was previously repaired however, the failure recurred. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer dewayne blackmon Chevrolet (1410 south gloster st, tupelo, ms 38801, (662)842-3611) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the seat cover was hollow. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 16,927.

Cables for seat folding mechanism breaking, preventing the second row 60/40 seats from folding to allow access to third row seats (third row occupants cannot exit vehicle - safety issue).

The front dash has cracked pretty significantly in 2 places. This occurred from the sun with no other factors coming into play. The driver seat fabric does not stay attached underneath the driver seat. Appears it is missing a clip or a poor design that does not secure lower fabric secure to the seat. The steering wheel has a clicking noise when I turn the wheel over. Not sure if it's in the steering column itself or from another piece/fabrication malfunction.

There is a little sting that releases the back part of the dart too lay it done but those get stretched out or even broke and can no longer lay the seat down t get to the 3rd row it's a huge saftey hazard.

Dash is completely cracked above the airbag which could be a safety hazard of flying debris if the airbag should deploy. Also the middle bench seat 60 side randomly closes which is a huge hazard as my children ride back there.

Seat moves when turning corners 90 degrees. Seems very unsafe. Took vehicle to dealership and was �fixed�, 30 days later driver side seat moves again!.

My passenger seat cot on fire. My truck was parked in the mall parking lot as my self husband and two children came out from shopping to my the car I opened my passanger door I got in and adjusted my passanger seat for comfort and my husband was getting the gift and kids in the truck and then all of a sudden I smelled smoke. I got out of the car and I started to look where the smell was coming from and looked under my passenger seat and there was sparks coming from under the seat there was a black box under the seat that was sparking I called 911 and the fire department came and put the fire out my whole passanger side burned and the fire department said it was the motor box under the seat that cot fire bad electrical wiring he said. The car was parked and we had not started it the only thing I did was adjust my seat and as I was waiting for my husband to get in and kids tho get buckled I smelt something burning and my set got hot. I can't believe this happened.

Driver seat shakes/moves. It was fixed while on warranty but it stared to move again, specially when making a turn. Dealer told me there is nothing wrong. But I don't think it's normal and must be a safety issue.

My front driver seat brackets broke while driving on the highway. The seat now rocks back and forth.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact observed that the third row seat made an abnormal sound without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the latches that lock the seat were fractured and caused the seat to move independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the latches were fractured, and that the right and left in-hand latches needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Vehicle would not start,needed to jump start. Once running ,climate controls and fan volume would not respond. Heat at 90,fan on full. Engine light flashing on off. Dash lights suddenly dimmed to low. Taken to dealer,had vehicle for 4 days. Dealer replaced battery. One week after battery was replaced,experienced the interior cabin lights would flash when brake pedal was applied. Instrument panel lights suddenly go from bright to dim. At night and day when turn signal activated ,the interior cabin lights flash on as well as when driver applied brake. Very distracting and dangerous in particular when operating at night. Notified dealer,returned vehicle for full diagnostics,had it for one week,no issues found. Picked up vehicle interior cabin lights still flash when brake is applied. Slight movement and clicking on drivers seat only while operating at any speed. Notified dealer. Again to document. Advised I would be filing a safety complaint,since dealer nor gm could not resolve issues. Occured June,July,Aug,Sep,oct, 2016,38000. Miles.

While driving the vehicle's driver seat will move forwards and backwards making it unable to reach pedals to stop safely, air bag light will flash erratically, loud ticking noise, miss-fire/vibration while idling. Been to the dealership twice to fix still not fixed, contacted gm about issues and to file a complaint. Now dealership refuses to work on Tahoe.

The front seat bracket on the drivers side pulled through the sheet metal on the left side, causing the seat to rock back.

Front driver seat movement during slow turning and stopping, also clunking inside seat.

The heating element located on the back of the passenger seat burned through the shirt and burned the skin. The skin was red and now there is a scab. This will definitely leave a scar. I did not see any recalls in the database for the heating elements in Tahoes (2005). Thanks, brenda.

Drivers seat becomes loose and moves under the driver.

As soon as we drove our used 2008 Tahoe off the dealer lot we had a tail light out that they claim was just a light bulb blown but it still continues to turn off and on by itself. We've had to replace the drivers seat belt because it wouldn't retract all the way. The dash cracked almost all the way from end to end and it is garaged unless we are out driving around so there should be no reason for it to crack. The driver side chrome door handle is peeling and has cut our hands. We've had to have the alternator replaced right after we bought it as well. This whole truck is a lemon! the truck is currently in the dealership because it wouldn't start and kept throwing a code "service security theft system. " haven't heard from them saying what is exactly wrong with it now.
