Gasoline Storage problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Two problems related to gasoline storage have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Gasoline Storage problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2003

Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced problems putting gas in the vehicle. The gas pump keeps stopping - as if the car is full. This happens frequently, but not always. It doesn't matter which station I go to. The dealer replaced some filler hoses or something after I had taken it in a few times, but they were not able to correct the problem. It is very annoying and sometimes I only fill the car up 1/2 - 3/4 full because I can't tell if it is full or not. I squeeze the handle and it immediately kicks off. This also happens when others are fueling the vehicle. It doesn't matter if I turn the nozzle different directions or pull it part of the way out of the vehicle. I also frequently overfill the vehicle because I don't know that it is full. I noticed someone else reported this as a consumer complaint - so it's not just my Trailblazer with the problem! it takes a long time to fill the tank when you can only put 1 second worth of gas in at a time! now my warranty is out, so I am probably stuck with this problem as long as I have the vehicle.

2 Gasoline Storage problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2002

After noticing a strong smell of gasoline and discovering a puddle of gasoline under the fuel tank, it was discovered the fuel tank had a split in the tank where the filler neck joins the tank. Ts.
