Five problems related to exterior rearview mirror have been reported for the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My 03 chevy Trailblazer is equipped with power/memory outside mirrors. The mirrors will not stay in one place when set. They will move at start up and while I am driving. This creates a serious safety issue for lane changing on multi lane highway. I have talked with other owners who have experienced the same problem. It seems that a software update might fix it but the mirror motors must be replaced also. This seems to happen after the warranty has expired. Once again this can cause a real safety problem.
I have had my 03 Trailblazer at the dealership 3 times for the outside mirrors. I have disabled curb-view assist and the mirrors still cannot remember their settings. Normally I can set the mirrors, get out of the car and turn it off for a few minutes, like at the gas station, and then get in and have to re-set them again. It does not matter if it is driver 1 or driver 2, the settings do not stay. Sometimes I get in, start the car and the mirror adjusts so I can see my elbow and the side of the Trailblazer. Other times I get in and cannot see any part of the Trailblazer in the mirror. I have been told, by the deleaship, that this is an issue that Chevrolet is aware of and there is not a solution yet, but Chevrolet is working on one. They will let me know when there is a fix. Does this sound like good business and excellent customer service to you?.
Driver's side mirror doesn't adjust enough to see oncoming traffic, and caused a blind spot. The dealer was notified.
Curb view assist, mirrors after being properly set to the curb view position while in reverse will from time to time stay in the "curb view" setting after vehicle is placed into drive or park. The only way I have found to get them to come back into driving position is to move them using the mirror controller or to turn the vehicle off and then restart vehicle.
Curb view assist. After properly setting both outside mirrors to my desired placement for curb view assist in reverse, the mirrors will "forget" their proper placement. It takes approx 10 -15 times into reverse for them to eventually not even move, although the curb view assist is being displayed in the driver information center. Dealer had vehicle in for service on may 5 03 and was to check this problem. Dealer advised "could not duplicate working per gm specifications.
