1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2022

For several years the low beam headlights would go off and on intermittently. Now, they are mostly off which means I cannot drive my vehicle at night anymore unless I want to blind people or get stopped. I have changed headlamps, relays and fuses to no avail. Now, I see that many others with the same make and model SUV have been having the same issue but no recalls have been issued for this year model. This is a major safety issue when we have to drive with the high beams on and when the lights go off unexpectedly. If you will issue a recall for one year model having a particular issue, why would you not do the same with all year models having the same issue? come on Chevrolet and NHTSA, let's get this problem solved to save some lives. It is very scary to be driving and have your headlights go out and a major pain to have to be sure you are home by dark or not be able to go out after dark because your headlamps are or may stop working.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2017

I was driving in the dark and my automatic headlights turned off. I pulled over and was able to get them back on. I got on the interstate in heavy traffic. I was driving in the middle lane with two tractor trailors to my right and traffic to my left. Suddenly it went dark. It was very scary. I got around the trucks and pulled into the emergency lane. Before I came to a complete stop they turned on and stayed on. I haven't driven in the dark a long distance until the other night. My headlights may have been turning off and on in the daylight without my knowledge. I checked and there wasn't any open recalls. Although the 2006 Chevrolet trail blazer has a recall for the same problem. Headlights turning off while driving.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2017

8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

Driving 6 people to pittsburgh International airport at 3 am 8/5/17 on the parkway to catch a flight for a vacation when noticed low beam headlights were not working. Do not know how long I was driving before this was noticed. Low beams worked the evening of 8/12/17 @ 10 pm after returning to pittsburgh airport and driving home. Low beams did not work again on the evening of 8/24/17 when driving home from a baseball game. Repairs were completed 9/1/17 by nick Chevrolet in tarentum, PA. I had asked before and after the repairs whether this would be covered under recall but was told no because my VIN number was not a part of the recall for this issue. They made it seem like this was a separate issue from the known low beam issue recall of other chevy models. I also called the gm customer service line to see if I could get reimbursed for this issue but was told the same thing; that my VIN number was not a part of the recall and it is based on what factory the car was made at? the part number used was 15016745 which upon looking on the internet is a replacement part for the other vehicles covered under the recall. I do not understand how the same issue can be part of a recall for some years and models and not others if the problem and part are the same??.

9 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

The headlights and gauges keep dimming while driving. They will flash. The headlights will go off completely and then come back on after a minute or so. It is very dangerous when the headlights go off while driving at night. I have seen several complaints of the same trouble. The 2006 models were recalled for this problem but the 2005 models were not. Why when they have the same dangerous issues?this needs to be recalled and fixed before someone is killed by the lights going off causing a wreck. This problem has happened allot every since I purchased this Trailblazer several years ago.

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2016

Occasionally headlights go out at night while driving. I see that 2006-07 were recalled but many others with a 2005 also complained of the same issue I'm having.

11 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2016

When driving vehicle both left and right low beam headlights go out. The first time it happened was when I was driving long distance in the dark. Had to drive with my high beams on for the rest of the trip. There is no specific time frame, but generally it happens anywhere from 10- 30 minutes of driving. I suspect it is heat related. I have changed the headlight relay #46, bit it only fixed the problem for a week. Again the lights will go out after driving several minutes. I noticed there is a recall for a similar issue on the 2006 chevy Trailblazer. Could this be the same problem with my vehicle. There are also multiple forums explaining the same exact issue with early 2000 model Trailblazers. This issue happened approx 6 months ago. Last week we ran into another problem. Our abs light comes on periodically. Like the headlights going out, the abs light comes on after driving the vehicle for a certain amount of time anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Again, I feel it electrical components/wiring is overheating and causing these issues. I feel there should be a safety recall for this this issue as it is affecting hundreds of customers USA wide.

12 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2016

2005 has the same headlight malfunction as the 2006 headlight go out by themselves, thus causing a unsafe condition on the hwy. They should be on recall too. This has happened 4 times since I 1 owner had vehicle.

13 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2015

While driving low beam headlights go out. High beams will work. Sometimes low beams will come back on during same trip. Replaced hdm module per issues with 2006 but headlights still go out while driving.

14 Headlights problem

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2015

Headlights go out while driving at night. Very scary.

16 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2015

I was leaving a parking lot at dark and my low beam headlights were working. After exiting the parking lot to the road, I note that the low beams were out. I then had to drive through town on the busiest roads with my high beams on. It was approximately 2100 and the temperature was in the 70's.

17 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2015

While driving after dark, the low beam headlights went out. The high beam lights continued to work. This is a recurring issue and seems to occur more once the vehicle has been running for some time. The lights did not come back on until the car was left parked overnight.

18 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

The dim headlights will start flashing for no apparant reason.

19 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

My low beam headlights stopped working completely now. They have gone out intermittently before, but they would not come on at all on Thursday, April 9th, 2015, and have not come on since then.

20 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

The headlights work then shut off. (on the way to work in a downpour, no less) dashboard lights partially working. (if I go over 40 mpg can't tell what my speed is) was working correctly for a couple of days now nothing. I checked for recalls and there are recalls for 2006-20xx (NHTSA 14v755000 ) just wondering, after finding on the internet, numerous 2005 owners with same problem, why this model wasn't included in the recalls? I would like to file a complaint on the potentially deadly problem of the 2005 chevy Trailblazer that should be corrected and included in this recall. Thank you.

21 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext 370. While driving 40 mph, the headlights failed without warning. The contact mentioned that the headlights work intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

22 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Multiple times while driving the headlights will malfunction and turn on and off, at random driving speeds under many different conditions. I continued to drive the Trailblazer even after this occurred. Just not as often. If the heater was on while driving and the headlights would short the heater would stop and then turn back on. The fan turns on at random, first it turns on when driving at random times. The fan will turn on at random times with a higher speed and sound. I have had the inspection completed multiple times with a mechanic re-assuring the issue although it has been happening frequently. The check engine light is on all the time due to computer error and is a $500. 00 fix. This has all happened and been reported within the first year I bought the vehicle from kendal motors in lewiston idaho. I find that the amount of work to fix this vehicle is overwhelming and to see that this vehicle was under 100. 000 miles is financially distressing. I have already had the fuel pump portion removed and fixed twice, I had to purchase a locking cap. The stereo repeatedly jams with new cd's even.

23 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

Low beam headlights have flashed on multiple occasions in the past. On the night of October 2, 2014, while driving home with my entire family in the car, the low beam headlights went out completely. I turned on my fog lamps to get home. I checked all fuses and relays and there were no problems. I also took it to a mechanic, who secured a loose ground wire. This did not help. Then I heard that gm was doing a recall for this exact problem, but it is for models 2006-2007, and mine is a 2005. They will not honor the recall on my vehicle. I am afraid to take my vehicle anywhere at night or in the rain. I do not feel I should have to pay for the repair when they know it is an issue.

24 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2014

The low beam headlight on my 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer turn off while I am driving down the road with no notice. The first time this occurred was on lawndale/7 mile road in saginaw county michigan in June 2014. The incident has happened several times since, most recently on 8/8/15 on greenwood road in alger mi. The low beam lights go out for no reason and cannot be turned back on. The high beam lights will work. The low beam lights will later turn on on their own. It generally takes several minutes before this happens. Several times this has occurred on dark, county roads which increase the danger to the occupants of my vehicle and other passengers on the road. I have contacted gm and their executive office and was informed that while the issue is a recall for the 2006 model year, because my vehicle was built in June 2005 it is not covered.

25 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the passenger side headlight failed. The failure also occurred on the driver side headlight. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

26 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

All of a sudden headlights stopped working. I have changed the bulbs, fuses and relay. Had this problems checked out several times, no one can find a solution to why they don't work. I was on the highway coming home when they just stopped working, I had to put my high beams on to be able to get home safely.

27 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2014

While driving at night, low beam headlamps go out completely. High beams still work and are the only option for getting home. Has happened multiple times. The first time it happened we were traveling away from home. We were on the highway and realized that we had no headlights. Very dangerous situation and from looking online - this seems to be a very common problem without a solution. Shop can't help unless they are doing it at the time.

28 Headlights problem

Updated 8/11/cn the consumer stated the headlights went out, for no reason. Updated 08/26/14.

29 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Multiple times my Trailblazer has stalled without warning. It tends to happen when I am in a stopped position. Whether it is at a stop light or just stopping in general. It takes a minute and then restarts. It has also multiple times lost head lights. The last time was at 9pm while driving home with my children in the car. My headlights went out I had to pull over and the only way my lights would work was if I held my high beams on.

32 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Fuel gauge had to be replaced, gas cap keeps coming lose and makes the check engine light come on. The headlights and interior lights will shut off occasionally when you are driving it. The radio buttons that light up at night only a few work. The whole radio system seems to have a short in it. You can hear the speakers come on when you hit a bump, but don't stay on. It will only have 1 speaker that works when the rest of them shut off. The back windshield wiper won't stay on track so it won't work. The passenger window mechanism completely broke and had to replace the whole piece. The Trailblazer is too light when a cross wind hits you on the road in the winter it will push you right off the road. Very discouraged with general motors, they usually have better working vehicles than the ones they have been producing lately.

33 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 40 mph, the headlights failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the multi-function unit would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

34 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2011

Intermittedly while driving at various speeds the headlights and dash lights will go dim for a few seconds then return to normal. The voltage gauge also drops, then returns to normal.

35 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2011

Sometimes while driving my vehicle at night(and during the day), within (15-20 minutes into the drive) my headlights go off and do not come back on for a period of time. When this happens I usually have to pull over and let the vehicle sit for a period of time(15-60 minutes). This issue is intermittent and I can not predict when it will happen. But it happens enough that this poses a great safety risk to me and other drivers on the freeway.
