36 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2011

The date, mileage and mph were either estimated or just ut in since options did not include "unknown". When driving at night headlights sometimes turns off. Only the lowbeams turn off, but when driving with high beams it is dangerous but necessary (especially when on the highways). I called gm and they pretty much claimed that no one had ever complained about it. But I did research and it happenns a lot.

37 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2011

While driving it appears that my headlights are receiving a surge of power which causes them to blink as if I am flashing my headlights. This has happened on and off for a couple of years now. Since this has started I have had to replace my headlights about every 6 to 8 months. After the third time I replaced the same headlight my mechanic showed me the fuse and stated that it seems there is a surge of power that causes the fuses to blow. I explained to him that my headlights seem to blink on their own every now and then and we did some research online and noticed that this seems to be a common problem in mid 2000 model Trailblazers. I contacted gm to make them aware with nothing more than a, "sorry for your inconvenience". I have also experienced issues with my door electronics. You can hear the power windows and door locks make a clicking sound as if they are being engaged without being operated. The speakers in the doors do not work after it rains or in very humid conditions. The power windows and door lock button lights work on and off and blink. The door/key chime rarely works. It seems to me that there is a serious issue regarding the electrical system of this model. I recently heard about the recall starting with 2006 models with electrical issues and I really believe this problem is not just isolated to the electronics in the door, but the overall electrical system in these vehicles. Considering the amount of complaints I have researched online it seems that these are common problems with these vehicles. Please for the safety of the consumers consider an investigation and recall into the full electrical system of this vehicle as it could be a serious safety hazard risking fire.

38 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2011

My exterior headlights will turn off while I am driving and stay off for 1-10 minutes. The dealer states that they can't do anything unless the car actually does it while they have the car. It only does it every few weeks, sometimes a couple of months.

40 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2010

Our 2005 chevy Trailblazer's low beam headlights have been replaced, the wires were replaced and worked long enough for me to go out at night. The first night I did go out, they stopped working. I was stuck out of town with my little girl. Thank goodness I wasn't driving or in a place where I didn't have cell phone service(which I don't have close to my home). Also, our fuel gauge doesn't work. We've had it repaired and it worked for a short period as well, but doesn't work any longer. Apparently, these two issues are common problems that Chevrolet needs to address. A recall would be nice. I have two more payments and I do not want to buy a new vehicle. Nor would I feel comfortable selling this one as it is.

41 Headlights problem

The technician informed that the instrument cluster would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000. The VIN was unavailable.

44 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

There have been several occasions where my headlights (only) will not come on at night or they will shut off while I am driving. Again it is only my headlights. It happens randomly. One day it will do that and the next day it won't so of coarse when I take it to the shop to have it looked at everything is fine. However I know I am not alone because of the web searches I have done on the issue I can see that several people are complaining about the same issue.

47 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2009

Driver's side headlight was flickering on and off intermittently prior to it ceasing to turn on. The bulbs were replaced but the driver's side headlight does not work! we contacted two local garages and they say that this is a normal occurrence for Trailblazers, and that the headlight socket needs to be replaced. I have seen multiple complaints online complaining about this same issue. I am astounded that there is not a safety recall addressing the total loss of the use of the headlights! I would think that not being able to see at night would be a definite safety risk!.

48 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

There is already a recall out for the 2006 model year, but I know that mine is part of it. I have a 2005 Trailblazer and the headlights keep intermittently going out as I am driving down the road. This problem as happened to me before in the past and I was able to finally remedy the issue by replacing the relay. The problem has now returned and I have even been pulled over multiple times for it. After doing a quick google search today I discovered that there are tons!!!!! of people with the same issue going back as far as 2002. . Read more...

52 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2009

Massive electrical problems with chevy Trailblazer 1. While going 10 miles an hour, the speedometer jumps to 120mph then to 50mph then to 120mph again. 2. When I fill up with gas, the gas gauge states that the tank is still empty then moves to full then to a 1/4 then to full then to half etc. . . 3. While driving at night, my headlights go highbeam to low beam as if I am manually flashing my lights at other cars. I have read on the internet where this is happening to many many people with this same model of Chevrolet SUV and that gm refuses to do anything about this. -I called gm and advised them of the entire issue. They advised me to go to a dealership and have them run a diagnostic as this was needed before they could help me. -I went to the dealer and paid $115 for the diagnostic, needless to say the repairs that the dealer found ranger over $3000. 00 dollars. -I then called gm back and they took the information that the dealer gave me (donna at 1-866-790-5700 x21153) -I just got a call back from gm stating that because of the mileage on the SUV that they were not going to do anything (they knew about the mileage before they sent me to the dealership!). So I wasted $115 dollars for something that was not needed by gm, and the fact that they knew about the mileage to start off with is a way to let the dealer make some money off the consumer.

I have taken the vehicle to the selling dealer several times with the problem, the last time in may 2008. The dealer has never been able to duplicate the problem, however, the last time I was there they did produce a gm document (#2046572) that did admit there is a problem. The document states "at this time, there are no repairs for this concern. Engineering is revisiting this concern. " I also consider this to be a serious safety issue.

2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer - vehicle headlights intermittently flicker while operating. Condition exists every time the vehicle is operated resulting in a safety hazard to both the driver, occupants and other motorists. At this point Chevrolet representatives are stating that this issue can not be fixed and should be accepted as a normal driving characteristic of the vehicle. This is a safety concern.

63 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

While driving my 2005 chevy Trailblazer the headlights go out momentarily and I also notice a flickering on the dash lights. This normally happens within the first 5 minutes of driving and continues for the 15 minute commute. So far I only notice this happening at night. I normally drive about 10 miles each way to work. I work 12 hour shifts both days and nights. As a result, I tend to have to drive to work and home in the dark. I am worried that the system will totally fail. Furthermore, when I am driving behind people and the headlights keep flashing at them it causes me to worry that their attention is now focused on my headlights instead of the road. The first time it happened I had my radio, rear-defrost and headlights on. I also noticed that the battery/charging gauge drops below 10v when this happens. However, the same condition has been repeated with only the necessary equipment running. For example, headlights, taillights, and dash lights, all other equipment off. I currently have been doing a some reading on-line and have found that many people who own the 2005 Trailblazer have experienced the same problems with their headlights. I have not replaced any parts yet. The vehicle is under warranty until 36k; the vehicle currently has 24k miles.

64 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2006

: the contact stated the taillights stopped working. The dealership repaired the taillights under warranty. Within three months, the low beam light stopped working. The contact is concerned there may be some unsafe electrical problems with the vehicle.

65 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2006

In 2006 while driving the headlights would flicker. The dealership said this is normal. Now when driving the headlights will cutoff for approximately 10 minutes and will then cut back on. It can be after driving for 2 minutes or 30 minutes. The high beam lights work fine when the "regular" headlights will not. For the past 2 years the gas gauge, speedometer, and oil pressure gage do not work properly. I can be stopped and the speedometer will show I am going x mph. It varies on the amount of miles the speedometer is off. The oil pressure gauge always sits below the low line. The gas gauge is not correct but does move. This vehicle is a peace of junk.

66 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2006

: the contact stated while driving at night, the headlights dim and flicker on and off. This occurred intermittently without warning. The front passenger power window rubs against the door frame and intermittently fails to close. The dealership replaced the alternator; however no further inspections have been made. The manufacturer has been alerted.

One week after purchasing my new vehicle, I drove at night. While driving, my headlights went dim upon deceleration. I took it back to the dealer to have it fixed. They said they cannot duplicate the problem and could not fix it. Now, I am taking it back again and having them drive it at night. This is a safety issue that I am not willing to live with and want it fixed.

68 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2006
