1 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2011

On December 21, 2011 my fuel had a half tank of gas. I went into the store and came out my fuel registered empty light came on. I rushed to the gas station to put more gas in and thought some one stold my gas out of my tank. This happened with the amount of fuel in my tank not registering four times since the first incident. Than on January 01, 2012 my front wind shield wipers will not stop. When I turn off the vehicle they stop, when I turn on the vehicle they continue to wipe my windows until I turn my vehicle off.

2 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2011

My gas guage light came on today right after I filled my tank and fuel shows empty. Light went off and fuel guage moved to half mark, then light came back on and went back to show empty. I researched and found out that over 895,000 owners have had this problem and over 600 have reported it to the NHTSA. I have not had an accident, but have read reviews of many that have due to this problem. Many have asked to recall this problem and I agree due to the amount of vehicles this has happed to, including mine. Some fixed it and the same problem reoccured the next year. My extended warranty ended in June so I'm not covered and the cost is very high. Please make this a recall so we all can fix this problem and not go broke. The dealer should face up and take the responsibility to fix the fuel guage problem by recalling this before someone gets in a serious accident.

3 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2011

Fuel gauge reports incorrect amount of fuel. Reads empty when full. Indicator light comes on saying empty when 1/2 a tank or fuel tank of gas.

4 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2011

The first problem I had with my 2005 Trailblazer was right after I purchased it. There was a problem when you tried to pump gas it would keep kicking the pump off. I took it to the dealership from which I had bought it. They worked on it said it was fixed, but it would do it at certain pumps. Then I had a problem with he passenger seat's sidepiece popped off and they fixed that but now the driver's side has done the same along with the lumbar support quit working. Then the speedometer went crazy, it was all over the place and made a real bad noise. The dealership quoted off it would be over $400. 00 to fix it. Then the gas gauge popped up the "dummy light" as we call it when gas is getting low. The gauge quit registering the amount of gas in the tank. Then during the heat of summer the front fan quit working, the air conditioner worked and the other fans worked. I got a letter about the gas sensor and how I would have to pay half of it. That is a lot of money not counting the collision insurance and taxes and other expenses I have paid. They should be glad to help the working people who have always bought Chevrolets. I will say this if they do not uphold some kind of quality on this high end automobile the next car I buy will not be an american because they won't stand by their products. It is just inappropriate that there have been a lot of the same complaints as I have about my car. I called the number on the paper that came out about the gas sensor and spoke with a nice lady named quin or queen, she set it up for me to bring my car in for diagnostic check. I should know what all is damaged and in need of repair and how much will come out of my pocket.

5 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

Fuel gauge failing. 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer lt 4x4 4. 2l i6 the fuel gauge will state an incorrect amount of fuel reamaining. After filling fuel the gauge will swtate empty. After about 20 miles driven then the gauge will slowly come back and read full. As the fuel is used up in tank the gauge will be off by up to a 1/4 of a tank.

6 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

We own a 2005 chevy Trailblazer and the gas gauge is not working. When we put fuel into the tank it registers on full then quickly will go down to emply. The gauge will then go up to half or a quarter then back to empty. Therefore you are never really sure of the amount of gas there is in the tank. We try and watch the milage to use that as a guide but when we are constantly putting in a couple of gallons just be be sure we have gas we lose track. I am so afraid that I or one of my family members will be stranded from running out of gas. I tried contacting Chevrolet but was unsuccessful in any kind of resolution. I have researched this problem online and found many instances of Trailblazer owners with the same problem.

7 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2011

The fuel gauge has not been working for months. After approximately 5 gallons are used of the 20 gallon tank, it will read empty and the engine light will go off. On christmas eve, our family of 4 including two toddlers was stranded on the side of the highway because we ran out of gas due to the inaccurate fuel gauge, and when the towtruck arrived there was not enough gas to start the truck because they only bring $5 and with today's gas prices it equates to less than 2 gallons. We had to then be towed to a gas station, moving car seats into the tow truck and the toddlers screaming on the side of the highway because they didn't know what was going on, to fill the rest of the tank. While gm has offered to help (only 50%, even though this is a known problem, they are only admitting premature failure) with the cost of the repair, they won't cover it for me because I have over 120,000 miles currently, which they stated you must have less than for them to cover the 50%, even though I had less than 120,000 when the problem started occurring. Even upon filling the tank, it takes about a day for the gauge to read full, and then it begins to fall steadily, not reflecting the actual amount in the tank.

8 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2011

Gas does not register when I fill up the tank. Still reads "empty". I have noticed on several websites that this is a very common problem and should be a recall. I travel w/small children in the vehicle and it is very dangerous to not know what exactly the fuel level is. I use the trip meter to hold me over, but it can be very hard to determine the amounts while using the trip meter for other recordings. I have had an estimate, but it is over $800 to have fixed and with this economy, that is just impossible to swing for such a common issue.

9 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

My gas gauge failed and caused an inaccuracy in the amount of gas in my vehicle. It now remains with the light on and at empty. I have been clearing the miles at each fill up to monitor approximately 300 miles per tank. I feel there should be a recall on this due to the numerous amounts of vehicles with this problem. It is definitely a safety hazard!.

10 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

2005 chevy Trailblazer fuel gauge flucxuating even when there is a full tank of gas. This can cause the vehicle to stop, stall, cause an accident. Causing extra amounts of money to put in the tank when not really necessary. There have been more than enough complaints regarding this issue, and should not take someone getting hurt in order for the recall to be passed. You expect us to pay $800-900 to have it repaired but when it is recalled, it will take months to even get refunded for the $$ we paid out for the problem. I didn't have an accident, however, I did have my small children in the car when it stopped in 90 degree weather in charlotte nc. We had to wait for over an hour for help to arrive.

11 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

I own a 2005 chevy Trailblazer, the gas gauge no longer works after 45,000 miles. It is stuck on empty even after filling the tank. Once in awhile it moves up but never to show the correct amount of fuel in the tank.

12 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2009

Fuel gage shows full at times and empty at times. Hard to tell amount of gas in tank all the time. Problem started at 41,000 miles. 2005 GMC Trailblazer.

13 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2009

Fuel sensor on 2005 chevy Trailblazer going out for the past year. If vehicle was filled, it would go down to empty after several minutes then over the course of about 20 minutes go to the correct spot. Recently it just doesn't give you any clue as to the amount of fuel in the tank. There are pages and pages of people with the same complaints online, so it's not just my vehicle. This is a major safety issue if there are lots of 2005 chevy Trailblazers on the road without knowledge of how much fuel is in their cars. Please look into this, because chevy sure isn't!.

14 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

I am having a problem with my fuel gauge or fuel pump. June 15-24 2009 I was putting gas into my vehicle every day because it was reading that my tank was empty. On June 24, I completely filled up my tank and the light remained on as if my tank was empty. The light remained on until the next day. As I was driving to work, the gauge moved up showing that I only had a 1/4 of a tank of gas. My gauge is giving me a false reading of the amount of gas I have in my tank and I now have to depend on the miles per trip to make sure I don't run out of gas.

15 Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2007

The fuel gauge does not accurately represent the true amount of gas in the tank. After talking with Chevrolet owners and doing research on this issue, it seems to be a common theme. The gas gauge indicates that the vehicle's gas tank is either empty after being recently filled or only slightly above the "e" on the gas gauge. It takes about two days or 12 statutory miles before the gas gauge begins to display an accurate reading, if that is even true! on 30 April 2008, during a family road trip, the gas gauge began to display that the gas tank was a quarter full after being filled. After driving another hour and a half, the gauge read empty and then went back to a quarter full. I guess Chevrolet doesn't care about the quality of their work, just its quantity of sales.
