37 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2011

Fuel sensor does not work. Chev is aware of this problem and issued a deal to pay for half the cost only if the car has under 120,000 miles or is less than 10 years old. We are over the mileage limit, but this problem caused our car to run out of gas on a curvy, mountain road with large coal trucks speeding by. We ran out in a place where we could not pull far enough off the side of the road and were almost hit by several passing vehicles. We couldn't start the vehicle and had to drift it backwards downhill to a safer place. Very dangerous!!!.

38 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2011

In summer of 2011 I had the first occurrence of the fuel gauge incorrectly showing the fuel level. This went on for several weeks and then went back to normal for a few months. As of January of this year, I have the issue again , only this time the fuel gauge is down completely and showing empty 90% of the time. I have contacted gm and they are aware of the issue and offer 50% discount on repair. This should be a recall as this is a serious issue and obviously affecting a very large number of owners of this model of Chevrolet.

39 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2011

2006 chevy Trailblazer faulty fuel sending unit , started giving false amounts and now does not work at all.

40 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

The fuel level sensor stopped working, thus leaving no way to tell how much fuel is in my vehicle. This should not happen on a vehicle after only 60,000 miles. I consider it a serious safety hazard, and am fearful that it could lead to a stall on a busy freeway. To avoid that situation, and the uneccessary added stress, I am constantly making stops at a gas station.

41 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

When I did a routine fill up on my vehicle and upon restarting the car after completion, the fuel gauge showed empty and the low fuel light came on. I turned the vehicle off and then turned it back on and it still showed low fuel. As I was driving the vehicle home, I noticed the check engine light came on. After driving the vehicle for about 20 miles or so, the fuel gauge showed correctly and the check engine light went off. However, upon the next fill up, it did the same thing. Now, it is at the point that it doesn't register the gas in the vehicle at all. One minute it shows empty, the next it shows correctly, and then it slowly goes back to empty. I have to use the trip gauge to know how much gas I have in my vehicle at all times. The check engine light comes on every time the fuel gauge shows empty. Lately, over the last few days, the car is starting to hesitate as if it was going to stall on me upon take off. I am getting worried that this vehicle is going to stall on me as I am driving and cause an accident.

42 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Fuel gauge quit working.

43 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2011

My 2006 chevy Trailblazer ran out of gas on a rural road leaving me stranded. The guage does not registe properly. It floats around. I cannot afford the $600 to replace the system at the dealership. I understand that this is a common failure for this model vehicle and think that it should be covered by a recall. .

44 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge began to display inaccurate readings. The check engine and fuel lights also began illuminating on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not yet taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were 55,000.

45 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

Today for the 5th time my vehicle ran out of gas, this time on a busy highway right after I turned onto the highway. I had to be pushed out of the way of traffic. A truck came with fuel and I was able to get to a gas station. One of course pays a mark up on the fuel when it is brought to you. The dealership where I purchased it does not sevice Chevrolets any longer. Another dealership in town says there is nothing to be done until there is a recall. This is very dangerous. I would like to sell the vehicle but who would buy a vehicle like this? I missed a clinic appointment, someone had to come pick up my son to get him to school and I rearranged my morning. The previous times I have been on my way to work or in to town. Once my son and I had to walk into town to get a gas can and walk back with the fuel. Another time aaa came but I missed all morning of work. Another time I was at a stoplight and it ran out of fuel and my older son and some basketball players, also in my vehecle, pushed the vehicle up the block into the gas station. The other time it ran out while I was on a main street but I was able to coast into a nearby gas station. I was informed that the vehicle was out of warrenty when it began at about 75,000. I was told it would be 700$ and maybe more to fix and that to evaluate it meant paying most of the 700$. I watch my fuel mileage very carefully so I know when to refill. Today it stopped sooner than it should have. So now I can' t rely even on the mileage. I would not feel safe taking this vehicle on any longer trip. Five times is too many in 15 months especially when it stops suddenly in intersections and on highways.

46 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge did not display an accurate reading. As a result, the contact never knew how much fuel was in the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. Neither the dealer, nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

47 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

Fuel gauge fluctuation on 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Reads empty when full frequently. Is inaccurate and unpredicable.

48 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

Fuel guage malfunction 2006 chevy Trailblazer the guage is very misleading causing near misses when you run out of fuel and not to leave out steering and braking problems when the engine stops this only effects certian models and should be recalled by g. M. They are trying to blame it on bad fuel I'm not buying the reason this is happening, if it were to be the fuel then more people would have the same issue.

49 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

Gas gauge in 2006 Trailblazer is erratic and inaccurate. When filled, the gauge goes to empty prompting a chime for low fuel. We never know how much fuel is left.

50 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2011

I own a 2006 chevy Trailblazer with what I believe to be a faulty gas guage. I was driving home last night and the gas light came on (which signals that fuel is needed) and within 5 minutes the car had stalled on a major highway (route 81). I "googled" Trailblazer and gas guage and I saw the that the NHTSA has opened a probe of this issue, as it may be widespread. Therefore, I am submitting my issue so that the number can be properly tracked in the event a recall is opened.

51 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

About 4-5 months ago my fuel sensor started saying that it was empty when I just filled and the engine light would come. After about 50 miles or so the lights would go off and seem like normal for a day or two and then the gas gauge would go back and forth. About a month ago my gas gauge quit working completely! also the neck of the gas pump needs to be replaced and that is another $300. 00!! I received what I thought was a recall notice but it is actually a limited warranty stating that they would pay for 50% to get this part fixed. Obviously gm is aware that this part is faulty and yet we are being forced to pay 50%!!!! they should be covering 100% of it.

52 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

The fuel gauge in my Chevrolet Trailblazer ext failed resulting in the vehicle stalling on a busy road. This is the second time that the gauge on this car has malfunctioned (was repaired by the dealer after a similar incident about 2 years ago). At this time, the gauge once again does not work at all.

53 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2011

Fuel gauge goes to empty after refueling. It will remain there for awhile then gradually move up to full, then fall to mid level, and then empty again. Eventually it will go to full and stay until the next fill up however, it is getting progressively longer for that to happen.

54 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

Fuel level sensor has failed. Fuel guage showing empty all the time. Also causing "check engine light" to be illuminated all of the time. Had check engine light fault read, and was told that code indicates it is because of the faulty fuel level reading, and that when inspection is due in March of 2012, if the fuel level sensor is not replaced eliminating check engine fault, the vehicle will fail nys emission test and therefore nys safety inspection.

55 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

Fluxuating fuel gauge. Stays at full or empty regardless of content.

56 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. After refueling the vehicle, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge began to fluctuate from empty to full. The contact stated that the fuel gauge did not display the accurate amount of fuel that the vehicle contained. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostics or repairs. There was an investigation under NHTSA action number: dp10001 (fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system) that could have been related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

57 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2011

As per incident number dp10001 I am on my third fuel sensor and the vehicle has left my family stranded in dangerous situations several times due to the faulty part. The faulty part is presently preventing me from passing emissions.

58 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2011

Fuel gauge sending unit failure.

59 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2011

Gas gauge began fluctuating then failed. Needle goes between full and empty at any given time. (caused by faulty fuel level sensor/sender) I have had two other gm vehicles in the past ten years that have had their gas gauges fail. Obviously a common problem with gm vehicles that they have failed to correct.

60 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2011

2006 chevy Trailblazer, fuel gauge acts erratic and check engine light comes on. It happens every time I fuel up.

61 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2011

Fuel gauge 2006 Trailblazer stopped working and the low fuel light stays on!.

62 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2011

Inaccurate gas guage. Unexplained stalls. The gas guage initially would show more gas than was available and later digressed to always showing empty. Continious problem. 6 stalls in which the vehicle would not start after staling. All stalls occured in parking losts with no accidents. Waiting 30 minutes to restart the vehivle. From November 2010 to present.

63 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2011

Car fuel gauge failed to show accurate amount of fuel. Sporadic readings.

64 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2011

My 2006 chevy Trailblazer's fuel gauge gives false fuel levels. When I fill it up the needle moves up a little and goes back to empty and the low fuel light comes on. I brought this vehicle when it was brand new. I've had so many problems with this vehicle from the dash indicators, radio, and now the fuel gauge. This is really dangerous because I can run out of gas while traveling and may have an accident. I've seen on the internet where a other Trailblazer owners are having the same problems with their fuel sensors. Feel that this part must have been defective from the factory and should be replaced by gm.

65 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2011

Gas gauge does not work. Check engine light stays on and gauge shows empty all the time.

66 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2011

Chev Trailblazer - gas guage inaccurate that caused vehicle to stall on the highway. It said I had more gas than I actually had. Also, the gas guage was overall not accurate. It was one level and then a few minutes it was much different. I eventually had to have the sensor replaced at the chev dealership.

67 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2011

The fuel gauge stopped working and we were told to take it to our local chevy. Dealer, where we were told that chevy would fix this problem by paying half the cost to repair the problem, this is such a rip off ,there problem yet we have to pay half to fix it ,not right. I have gone to many web sites and this is a verycommon problem with chevy Trailblazers, all years . They should be recalled and chevy. Made to fix there problem for nothing.

68 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

The fuel sensor did not read correctly. It would read full then empty then half, quarter. Etc.

69 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

My 2006 chevy Trailblazer gas gauge keeps telling me its empty when its full. It all started when I pumped gas into it I turned it on and it stood on empty. I only have 43k miles on it. I have never had rthis issue with any car before and after reading about how many other people have this same problem I think its unfair that gm is not accepting responsibility for this defect. I could undewrstand if it were 1 or 2 vehicles but its a lot. . . . . There has to be something that they could do.

70 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2011

Fuel gauge not working properly. Goes up and down. Never sure how much gas in the vehicle. Could result in running out of gas leading to being rearended or stuck in heavy traffic. Gauge gets stuck on empty at times and fuel light comes on.
