The passengers side seat belt locked up and would not come out at all rendering it completely useless. We took the car to a chevy dealer as we were told that because the seat belt is a safety issue it should be covered, however we were told it is not covered and given an estimate of almost $300 to repair it.

We have a seat belt that does not work. It stopped working a few days ago and so we cannot go anywhere as a family. The seat belt is stuck and will not come out at all. Not only that, but we have another seat belt that has been broken for years. Everytime I mention this like this to the chevy dealer, they want to charge me and arm and a leg and will not work with me. Seat belts should not break. The people at Chevrolet should cover at all times something as serious as this but they simply do not care! do not buy a chevy!.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact noticed a burning odor and smoke coming from the front passenger side door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the power window module was melted and would have to be replaced. There was an investigation under NHTSA action number: ea12004 (visibility:power window devices and controls electrical system) for the 2006-2007 models that could possibly have been related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also experienced a failure with the rear driver side seat belt. The passenger became trapped by the seat belt when it would not unlock. The contact had to cut the seat belt in order to release the passenger. The seat belt was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

On may 24, 2012- I was traveling out our mile long gravel driveway. Half way down the driveway the side curtain airbags on both sides deployed. There was no crash- they just came out. I contacted gm. They finally sent out a 3rd party investigator to investigate the vehicle. They determined that the vehicle had a roll-over event. The vehicle did not roll-over. Gm told me that it was an insurance issue. Insurance company says it is a mechanical issue and was gm's problem to fix. At this time the vehicle still sits with both side airbags out and the front driver and passenger seatbelts are locked in place. Vehicle is not drivable.

Myself and my daughter was visiting my parents in virginia and I turned the steering wheel to the right to go around a curve and the steering wheel didn't turn. I looked ay my daughter and said "OH _ _ _ _" and she ask me what 's wrong? I said the steering didn't turn and it wasn't but seconds later, we slammed into the side of the mountain on the driver side and we rolled two or three times and ended up on the roof. I immediately went unconscious because of the impact. I had a big gash on my head and was bleeding profusely and I was having trouble breathing because both of my lungs were punctured. All the windows burst out so my daughter was able to crawl out the passenger window to ask someone for help but my seat belt would not unbuckle so there was an issue getting me out. I was very lucky that someone that stopped had a pocket knife and cut the seatbelt to get me out. I had a bad concussion and I kept going in and out . I had three broken ribs, three pelvic fractures, a bad contusion on my elbow and I still have a swollen knot about two and a half inches on my left leg. I also have issues with my back and I am in constant pain and on impact, my seat belt jerked and caught my breast and I now have five cyst with the largest one being one inch and they are very painful. I have to watch it very closely because of a cancer risk called inflammation cancer. I was hospitalized for three days and I have to continue receiving medical care because of these injuries. My daughter is young and now she has back problems and ptsd and she also continues to receive medical care . This has really impacted and changed my life and my daughters life and I would really appreciate it if you would take the time to investigate these issues. We are going to have life long injuries and issues because of this accident. Thank you very much.
The front passenger side seat belt was locking up on occasions didnt think much of it, but now it is locked up all together. The seat belt is inoperable, my family always wears a seatbelt, plus it is the law! something needs to be done, I have done my research and this is a major problem with countless other 2003 chevy Trailblazer owners!.
Front passenger seat belt locks up and you are sometimes unable to use it. This had been happening more and more. At first you could keep moving it back and forth and it would immediately come loose but as time goes by, it is getting harder to get the seat belt to come loose.
My passenger seat belt in the front got stuck. I took the truck to the dealer to see if they could get the seat belt unlock but they couldn't. So I had no other choice but to have the dealer cut the seat belt. This was the first time this has happen and would like to know if there is a problem with the seat belts in the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazers.

Driver's seat belt will not release. Bought brand new in 2004 and happened while driving off the car lot. Has since been replaced just once, but problem continued. Up until 2 months ago, seatbelt would release shortly, but now it has been stuck for 3 weeks. Trying to get gm to replace, but they have just now agreed to pay 50%. Previously when it was replaced it was a major safety issue of theirs and I was not allowed to drive it at all. This time, since it is out of warranty, they have not made an attempt to put me in another vehicle or offer to fix it. It took almost 6 weeks for them to say they would pay 50%. Seems very careless of gm considering I am out of the habit of even reaching for my seatbelt b/c it never works. I have an appt. With the chevy dealer Wednesday and am going to try to continue to press to gm that this problem has been going on since the vehicle was built and they need to realize what a priority this is, and be thankful that I have yet to get into an accident.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the front passenger seat belt would not retract. The dealer was notified and informed the contact that repairs associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 04v201000 (seat belts) were already performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.
Seat belt locked in place and wont release.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact noticed that the front passenger side seat belt locked and it would not release regardless of weather the brakes were applied which made it difficult for the passenger to release the seat belt when exiting the vehicle. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 65000.
I was on highway i25 sb in denver, CO. Middle lane, clear conditions, 30-35 mph. 4 cars in front stopped short, I came to a stop as soon as I could, missing the car in front by an inch. A van behind me rear ended me going approx 30mph. I am 5'1 so my head hit the steering wheel causing a concussion. My complaint is that neither my seatbelt nor my front passenger's locked into position. My passenger's seat even rocked back rendering her spine completely unstable. Airbags did not deploy and we did not feel safe. My vehicle is totaled.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt is inoperative. The mechanism that allows the seat belt to safely position the strap onto the passenger does not retract; therefore, the seat belt harness is extremely loose. In the event of a crash, the occupants would not be properly restrained, which increases the risk of a serious injury. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure and current mileages were 61,000.
My seat belt reminder light does not come on when starting the vehicle nor does it chime when you don't have your seat belt on like the owners manual says it suppose to do.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the driver side seat belt comes across the face and neck instead of her chest. The seat belt gets in the way when she is driving and is a safety hazard. In the event of a crash it will not protect her body instead it would injure her neck. The dealer was notified and there have been no diagnostic test performed. The vehicle identification number was not available. The failure and current mileages were unknown.
Hi there - I own a 2005 chevy Trailblazer. At 40,000 miles, I had my truck serviced at the dealership with the complaint that my driver's seat belt locks as I try to put it on. At times, this has meant that I have had to drive without my seatbelt on because I simply cannot get it unlocked. I even purchased what the dealership termed to me as a bumper to bumper warranty - and they still have refused to fix the problem because it is intermittent and they have not been able to reproduce the problem! I see that the exact same problem was noted and recalled on 2002 Trailblazers - and from my experience, I think it is time to also include the 2005 Trailblazers on this recall as well.
I have owned my chevy Trailblazer since October 16, 2004. I am the second owner of the vehicle. I purchased this vehicle 6 months after a safety recall was issued on the seat belts on the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. I have recently had a problem with the driver side seat belt it has extracted and will not retract. I took it to crystal Chevrolet in crystal river florida for them to try and determine the problem. They have determined that it is the mechanisms inside the seat belt retractor. They told me that the system showed that the recall had already been done on this vehicle based on my VIN number. I was told that there was nothing that they would do for me unless I wanted to pay them 325. 00 to repair it. I don't feel that this should be an expense I should incur due to the fact that the recall clearly states that when sent in for the recall it would only be replaced if necessary. I feel that at that time there may have not been a problem with it therefore it wouldn't have been replaced and now that I am having problems with I am told that it can't be repaired due to me not being the 1st owner and that it was already brought in to gm for this problem. This is clearly a safety issue that should be definitely taken care of on the behalf of gm. There is no proof that this vehicles problem was actually replaced at the time of the recall.
Passenger seat belt mechanism locks during normal driving conditions. I brought this to 2 different dealers on 1/25/06 and 1/13/07. Both dealers could not recreate the problem. I called Chevrolet customer service which acknowledged a seatbelt recall on 02 Trailblazers but claimed it does not cover my VIN. Chevy needs to extends this recall before serious injury occurs.
We have not had any injuries, yet. The passenger seat belt locks up and will not release unless you take the seat belt off. I have contacted the chevy recall #, but they did not resolve the issue. I did take the vehicle to the dealer when issued the recall, but they did nothing. I do have dated document that states the seat belt retractor needs to be replaced, but they would not replace it under the recall.
Driver seat belt is twisted and does not lay flat across the body.
Front passenger side seat belt fastened, upon impact seat belt was in a locked position. This occurred when the consumer was rear ended.
I purchased my Chevrolet trail blazer new in 2003. Soon after, my driver's seatbelt began to lock up and would not release in order to put it on, leaving me to drive without wearing a seatbelt. I notified the dealer of the problem. Over the past 5 years they have replaced the seatbelt, frame, or mechanisms 5 times. I have 15 documented times of issues with the seatbelt. This does not include all the phone calls or hundreds of times it locked up that I eventually got it unlocked myself. I called and wrote their customer service department. The dealer finally found a document they presented me dealing with the issue which states you have to get out of the car and press in certain areas to release the belt. Sometimes this works, sometimes I am unable to get it to release and must drive without a seatbelt. This is illegal in my state and punishable by a ticket and fine. I have begged for help to no avail with the dealer who says they are sorry. I searched online and this seems to be a problem for others as well.
I am having a issue with gm on the child comfort guides, or lack of, on our 2003 Trailblazer. On page 1-27 of the owners manual it shows a comfort guide that is suppose to be located in a pocket on the side of the seat. I have talked to 3 dealers and a rep at my-gm link. The dealers did the best that was possible but I feel that the information the rep at my-gm link provided would cause a safety hazard. Apparently gm has a kit that could be installed by attaching a bracket with a tether and a clip that hooks around the seat belt to provide the function of the comfort guide. If this tether is in place it would block exit from the rear seats because it connects to the side of the vehicle and would stretch across the exit once the middle seat is folded down, and could possibly be a trip hazard. We have two young children and the belt goes right across their face and causes a problem when they keep trying to place the shoulder strap behind their back. I feel this comfort guide is essential in providing safety for young and short passengers. The case number with gm is 1-94348313. I would appreciate any help with this matter.
Consumer has problems with right front seat belt locking up. The problem has been happening since consumer bought the car. Consumer attempted to fix it 2 times. If consumer moves forward even an inch it locks up. Consumer has to unlatch seat belt to keep the seat belt from retracking.
