Tl- the contact was calling on behalf of the owner of a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while the driver was reversing from a parking space, the vehicle unintended accelerated crashing into a parked vehicle. The brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle accelerated forward and then reversed into oncoming traffic where it crashed into a vehicle that was driving at an unknown speed. The vehicle then crashed into a pole which fell onto a parked vehicle. It was unknown if any warning lights illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. There were four children in the vehicle at the time of the failure. An eleven-year-old was seated at the front passenger side and two eight month old's rear facing in the rear of the vehicle along with an thirteen-year-old. All three rear passengers seat belts unlatched. The two infants sustained head injuries and the thirteen-year-old sustained a left knee, right thigh, and forehead injuries. The front passenger sustained unknown injuries as well. The driver did not sustain any injuries. The front passenger and the three rear passengers received medical attention. There were two individuals in the parked vehicle that the pole fell on top which sustained concussion injuries. In addition, the vehicle that was crashed into from oncoming traffic sustained unknown severe injuries. A police report number: 89080714-01 was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. Consumer states unintended acceleration
the consumer stated as she was driving her son's vehicle, she accelerated to move to the left lane, when all of a sudden she had no control of the vehicle's speed. She attempted to brake, but to no avail. When she gradually removed her foot from the brake, the vehicle accelerated to 80 mph. The consumer put the hazards on and placed both feet on the brake as she tried to hold down the speed. Finally, after two miles of riding the brakes, she was able to exit on the ramp and put the vehicle in neutral and then in park where the rpm's finally went down. The vehicle was inspected and stayed at the dealer for three weeks. However, they were unable to find a problem.
