I’ve had this vehicle for about a year or less the car ran fine with minor problems that come with having a vehicle. Up until last week the car never showed any signs of a failing transmission, it went from running fine to shuttering and suddenly I wasn’t able to reverse. The check engine light never came on, I’ve did all my routine checks and more with the dealership I bought it from and was never told anything when the vehicle was brought in for inspections.

August 6, 2025 I was driving and it started to rain and there was a little rain on the road and my vehicle appeared to be hydroplaning. I had never experienced that before and it scared me to the point that I reduced my speed significantly. I arrived at my destination and was there for about three hours and when I started my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse I had 4 lights come on my dashboard along with a warning chime. The lights were the brake light, abs light, forward collision assist light and traction control light; and a service esc and service brake assist message popped up in separate boxes from the lights themselves. I turned off my Traverse and hoped it was some fluke thing and again the same lights came on and same messages. I drove my vehicle home cautiously and parked it. I called the dealer I purchased it from the following morning and was given a service appointment 11 days out and I stated that was unacceptable since I was not sure the vehicle was safe to drive from everything I was reading online. The service dept stated that they could place it on a machine if I stopped into the dealership and let me know if was safe to drive. My husband drove it to the dealership 25 miles away and wasn't happy with the service department and spoke to a manager and he stated they would look at my vehicle the following day and gave me a loaner. My husband advised the manager that everything I had been reading pointed to an issue with the master brake cylinder and the parts are on backorder and the manager said he hadn't heard of any issues with them. I received a call 4 days later after asking the status of my new car repeatedly and was told that it is the master brake cylinder and a couple of the parts are on backorder and they don't know when they will arrive; could be a week, two or a month. I am extremely concerned about the seriousness of this issue and the lack of parts to repair the vehicle. As I stated, there are multiple incidents on google over this same issue.
8/4/25 vehicle was pulling from side road to main highway when lights and warnings came on dash cluster. Brakes were very soft and not very responsive, car was slowed down on its own. Was able to pull into a driveway and take photos of some of the messages. One said service traction control, one said service asc, and one said ‘brake assist fail, press hard to brake, speed reduced. After restarting car all was normal. 8/11/25. Sitting in some morning traffic and all the same messages came up and brakes were soft again. Was able to keep some distance between myself and other cars until I could get off the road. Immediately made an appointment for dealership service. After restarting car, all was normal again. Took car to dealership at appointed time and they kept it for a week and only did test drives to try and recreate problem. When they couldn’t they returned the vehicle to me with nothing done but clearing codes and checking for updates. This is unacceptable. I am hauling my precious grandchildren in a brand new vehicle that could have a braking failure at any time. Obviously braking failures can cost lives. There is a gm service bulletin for this exact problem in December 2024 (n242482170) requesting the master cylinder should be replaced. This service bulletin doesn’t extend to the 2025 Traverse model and it should as the problems are exactly the same. I hope this can be resolved. I’m very uneasy driving now and just keep wondering when this will happen again and how bad it could be.
Car with only 3900 miles brand new after 3 months the braking system, collision system, parking assist, abs and brake lights appeared on dashboard, at the dealer since 07/14/2025, I was suggested not to drive the car. Same day called gm customer service and opened a case, the dealer gives me a rental car to use until the repair is finished. At the end of the same week I called again gm customer service asking about news and the parts was back ordered, they told me to wait 5 business days for a possible repurchase or for any updates for parts. Today 07/31/2025 I called again gm and they said that the parts were shipped but they didn’t had the tracking number, I called my dealer and the parts are in back order without eta.
Brake light, abs light, forward collision light and traction control light all come on when the car was started. Had to be towed to woody folsom dealership in baxley, GA and is currently still there. Was told it was the brake master cyclinder and it is on nationwide backorder. The part came in this week and they put it in and could not get the car to program. They are waiting for another brake master cyclinder to arrive. So I am at 8 weeks of the car being down and in service at the dealership with no estimated date of when and if it can be fixed. I have received onstar notifications that says a critical issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2025 Chevrolet Traverse has been detected. The battery in your 2025 Chevrolet Traverse is critically low.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lunged forward and stopped while at the traffic light. The contact stated that while driving over 4 mph, the vehicle seized with the transmission warning light illuminated. The contact was concerned about being involved in a crash due to the failure. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 88,071.

Stepped on brake to disengage cruise control. The car accelerated instead of slowing, I turned off cruise and kept stepping on the brake the car kept accelerating. I had to shift to neutral stop the car and shut engine off. When I restarted it was disengaged. This has happened twice now.

This has happened three times . First time I was driving my vehicle on the street and randomly turned off . The second time this happened I was driving on the freeway at 66 mph & it randomly turned off and the speed was reduced on seconds. This incident was very dangerous to the point were I almost got hit with my family in the vehicle I needed a tow truck to take me home and it was super risky and dangerous because other vehicles were passing about 2 ft away from us and at a high speed. Third time this happened I almost got hit again due to the random shut off and loss of velocity and this time it was a very small gap and space I had and cars kept honking and cars were passing at a one ft distance . Once the lights turn on , on the dash board when it's barely a warning and recently pop up the vehicle automatically randomly turns off . The lights I get on the dashboard are stability track , traction control off , engine power is reduced , service stabilitrak, and check engine light . Has not been inspected .
Bought this car on Monday by Wednesday the check engine light went on and had gone off the following day. The next week Friday the check engine light went on and the acceleration was not changing out of gear. Staying at one speed on the highway. Finally got the car in and the car has transmission problems. The car is brand new!!.

2021 chevy Traverse went out in September, it would shutter causing take off to jerk so hard and cause traffic to stall, hurting passengers necks, and almost causing accidents.

While driving my car, the instrument panel just went blank. My gages all read 0. No speedometer, no battery voltage, no fuel level. The driver information center also shut off. Blinkers would not work, door lock/unlock button did not work after stopping the car. The engine never felt like it lost power and my car would still drive but I could not signal or see how fast I was going.
The big problem when I drive is that it is not safe, it jerks when I start to accelerate. I took it to the nearest dealer to have the problem fixed. And they do not want to fix the problem and now I just want to get this vehicle off the roads. I do not want to cause an accident and put my family at risk.

While driving, check engine light went on, stabilitrack and traction control went off (information from driver information center) and power was reduced. This occurred several times a week and vehicle slowed down dramatically and had to be driven slowly from the roadway. This was a dangerous situation. After safely stopping, I was able to resume travel after turning off engine and restarting, although check engine light would remain on for several on/off cycles. Engine stored code p1682. This has also happened while at a stop and when the accelerator was pressed, the vehicle would stall (sometimes in middle of intersection).
The transmission on my 2018 chevy Traverse went out per the mechanic that recently inspected it. It was just purchased from a chevy dealership not even 8 months ago. I first noticed the problem a couple weeks ago when my car hit about 25mph getting on the highway then wouldn’t go any faster as I would try to accelerate speed, then it was jerking and was harshly engaging from time to time. Then it finally felt like someone crashed into the back of my car it jerked so hard and then accelerated but only went up to 40mph and wouldn’t go any faster. It would hit 40 mph and then idol at the speed when you would hit the gas to accelerate. No engine light came on or anything at that time. Then a couple days later the shifter would be put into reverse and then not go in reverse when you hit the gas to go. Having two young kids, my husband told me it wasn’t safe to be driving it at all. We had it towed to a mechanic shop to be inspected since we depend on a car for our job. The mechanic inspected it with a diagnostic code reader as well as looking at the transmission. The overall condition is that the transmission is not working anymore. I have done research and for this specific make, model and year there are tons of recalls for the transmission.
I had 2 mile hr front side inpack in a parking lot whitch pushed me into anther parked car . Then at that point my car went into at a high rate of speed . I had both feet on the break no help . I proceeded to hit other cars after the 3rd and 4rd car it finally quit . This was at a small airport thank got no one was coming out of the airport . I did everything I could to stop this car . It just kept picking up speed .
The transmission went out, when going out it causes the vehicle to jerk while at a high speed of 60mph and then after the jerking it stops in the highest gear almost causing a wreck and this all suddenly happens on an interstate.

I was unable to stop my vehicle from accelerating. The brakes were engaging but my vehicle continued to build speed. Myself and my family, as well as others on the road, were all put at risk due to my vehicle not responding or failing to control speed; cruise control was not engaged. My insurance company, usaa, is currently investigating and determining total damage estimate. No warning lamps, indicators, or messages were presented prior to collision. The rotors and brakes were glowing red after collision from continuous attempts to stop the vehicle.
September 26th 2023 I noticed my Traverse accelerated by itself while in park I reported the evap issue made my check emgine light come on and stay on I noticed gm recalled 2019 Traverses and up a year models for the same reason but not 2018 models on September the 7th 2023 I also got a code saying control moduoe communication chassis expansion can bus offf when the check engine light ccame on also please help me with this matter I have a child I have to be responsible for im scared of this problem.
Automobile suddenly starts trembling while reducing velocity on its own and turn on trac off light, check engine light is on.
I have been receiving warning messages on my dashboard regarding service the stabilitrak, followed by traction control off message and then vehicle shaking, losing steering power and engine shutting down for over a year. The issue occurs randomly making it difficult to repair. I have had it serviced multiple times by different mechanics and no one has been able to find a solution due to the random nature of the issue. This poses a risk to the vehicle occupants safety because when unexpectedly and suddenly losing engine power, steering and traction control all at the same time, it is very difficult to safely merge to the shoulder of a roadway. I have been left stranded in many locations including out of town. Due to my research this is a common issue with this vehicle that can be caused by multiple issues. I also have a recall on my air bag and warnings have appeared on my dashboard that has no remedy yet. The vehicle is not safe to drive and I depend on this SUV to transport my family of 7. I am also still financing, making it difficult to keep up with payments while trying to diagnose/ repair.
Components related to timing chain failed, and vehicle is currently available with plans to sell to a salvage yard by 10/25/24. My 9 year old and I were at risk of collision when the vehicle failed. I was driving approximately 70-75 mph when we started to lose power. At 65 mph, I managed to cross 2 lanes of highway traffic and stopped on the shoulder. I turned off my vehicle and waited several minutes, hoping it would help reset or cool off a component or something. I had to try a couple of times before it started, and I attempted to drive as safely as I could, made it to 60 mph before it stopped running completely. I had to pull hard on the steering wheel to get to the shoulder again, only this time, the shoulder was pinched off in front of us and around a small blind spot behind us. I had my daughter move to the side closer to the cement barrier while waiting for a tow truck. She became very nervous about how close some of the other vehicles got. Afterwards, the error codes indicated several components pointing to a timing chain problem. I had the timing chain repaired around April or may of 2023 by a certified mechanic. I watched the oil life percentage and oil temperature gauge consistently. Everything indicated as normal, but I had difficulty pulling out the dipstick to check the oil level. Since it was hard to get a good reading, I tried to add some oil and recheck. The oil cap was nearly impossible to open, so I decided to wait for an oil tech to do it. Around 40-50% oil life, I had planned to have the oil changed. In spite of my efforts to maintain proper oil quality, the oil cap had to be opened with a wrench. Smoke rose out and dried out oil residue lined the inner walls. It was about a quart low. I don’t drive hard on it and it had only been around 3,000 miles between oil changes. It had been one year since the timing chain was replaced. Error codes remain and the vehicle runs rough if it stays on long enough after much effort to start it.

All I did was take it to get new rear calipers and an alignment and when I left the shop I got a light on the dashboard that says service traction control service stabilitrak and sometimes the abs goes on and off and sometimes the airbag light comes on and turns off. I can't drive over 1. 5rpm and it's jumping when trying to accelerate. I'm not getting codes. I changed the brake pedal sensor to see if that works but no. Mechanic can't seem to figure out the issue without me spending more and more money on it. I've only had it roughly a year and half. I've put alot of money into this vehichle.

While driving at various speeds, the check engine light, service stabilitrack, and service traction control warning lights came on. Vehicle went into limp mode. Independent mechanic said ongoing issue with chevy and carbon build up in the throttle body. It will keep happening due to flawed system. Dealer denied but keeps happening.
Cracked exhaust & bracket back in 2023 causing a loud rattling noise. Now catalytic converter is cracked & gasket leak. Dealer does have notes that it was cracked & they noticed it in 2023 at 46k miles & that converter has now cracked causing engine light to turn on. Car does not speed up properly & gm only wants to cover 30 percent of cost.
I was driving at approximately 30mph on a road the traction control/stability track light came on and my car lost almost all power. It went from 30 to about 5mph. Thankfully I was on a slower road and close to my house so I was able to get home. If I would have been on a highway I could have been killed. I quick google search showed thousands of other complaints with the same problem, my question is why is nothing being done. Are they waiting for a certain number of deaths??.

Traction control said off light on. Car shut down power failure. Car shaking as it stopped in traffic almost causing an accident. Barely made off road. I have seen other multiple complaints and no way to fix this problem. It is a death sentence on the highway. With no other transportation for me.
2014 chevy Traverse lt. Randomly driving on the freeway @ 60-65mph going uphill it started losing power. It started stuttering/coughing. The traction control off and service stabilitrak lights flashed. I finally got it home and shut it off. The next morning it drove fine. Then it happened agai a few days later. I replaced the throttle body after it was diagnosed as the problem. On the way home it did the same thing. It wasn't the throttle body. Now they can't find out what is wrong with it. There are no codes. The service repair guys say it is overheating in the shop but not when they drive it and they don't know why. There are no codes. I told them it was random. If I am driving on the interstate and have these problems and have to turn off the engine and sit for any amount of time is dangerous. Especially if the heat is over 100 degrees as it has been. I'm not sure if it is related to this problem, but my control panel lights go from dim to light randomly. I can't see anything on them during the day when dim. No warnings etc that may flash.
Vehicle dies while driving in traffic. Has done this since I bought it. Very unsafe. I have had my car since March 2022. While driving it says engine power reduced, traction control, stabli track, and loses power and I have to try to safely make sure I get it off the road. After it dies it won't start. I have to get tow truck to bring it home. Then next day it starts fine sometimes. Very unsafe. I have children . I have barley been able to prevent myself from being in a wreck. When it dies the whole cars jerks. It does it all the time. This last time it was doing it so much I haven't been able to drive it. To afraid of accident.

Something is happening to cause delayed shifting in this vehicle without warning or any rhyme or reason to it. One moment you're going 40 and all is well then suddenly the rpms go high the car slows way down and doesn't want to shift. There is no light to indicate the issue and no codes so no way to tell what to fix also no warning as to when it will happen. This car has become so unpredictable with it's shifting we have opted to park it and look into the transmission. This seems to be a common problem with chevy Traverse wish I had known that when I purchased it and I don't want to think what would happen if we were driving on the interstate.
Upon slowly pulling into a parking spot my foot was on the brake bringing the vehicle to a stop when the rpms suddenly went up and the vehicle lunged forward striking the stone wall in front of me. The impact caused both my knees to make contact with the steering column. There were no warning lights. The airbag did not deploy and the onstar did not activate although the impact was substantial. I explained this both to the dealer and the insurance company. I was told a gm engineer would need to investigate this issue. I have found numerous accounts of this online.
Https://youtu. Be/hbvaoiixnxy almost killed my freaking family!!!!!.
The biggest problem is that mechanics don't know how to fix this problem. Traction control needs servicing with causes you to lose acceleration on the freeway. Then sometimes stabilitrac also goes off. Now the vehicle engine keeps running when turned off. The air conditioning sometimes randomly won't work at all, and last the tire servicing system now won't sync.
Occasionally when putting the SUV in reverse, the car does not go into gear. I'll hit the gas and nothing and then all of the sudden it goes into gear. It's almost like it's in a delay sometimes I'll have to put into drive and then reverse for it to go into gear.
