Driving on hwy with cruise control set to 72. I think I went to up cruise control to 75 when car sped up to almost 90mph despite me turning off cruise control and standing on brake. After of couple minutes the car slowed down. But I had no control over my vehicle's braking o the acceleration for at least 2 minutes.

Cruise control was engaged at approximately 60 mph, and I accelerated the car up an entrance ramp on to a 65 mph highway (interstate 40, durham, nc) to merge into moderate traffic heading west. The car then began accelerating on its own despite taking my foot off the gas pedal, and probably reached 70 mph. I pushed the brake pedal, which slowed the car in a shuddering manner, but did not disengage the cruise control, which continued to accelerate the vehicle. Because of the danger of hitting the car in front of us, I braked again, with a similar result. Turning off the cruise control by pushing the button on the left side of the steering wheel did not have any effect. The car continued to accelerate quickly, so I braked again and held them hard, which slowed the vehicle. On this third try, the cruise control disengaged, and I was able to turn it off. It's not been used since, so its status is unknown. No accident arose from this incident.

While driving the car, the traction control turns off. When this message comes on the driver information panel, the following messages appear: the check engine light comes on, engine power reduced, and service stabilitytrac system. At the same time, when you press the gas pedal, the car does not accelerate. Also, the cruise control does not work. This happens whether you're driving 5 miles an hour or 55+ miles per hour. This is a problem that occurs every time I drive the car. I have noticed that if the temperature is under 40 degrees, it happens more times than when the temperature is greater than 40 degrees. I live in pennsylvania and the temperature dips very low. I drive a minimum of 300 miles a day m-f and this is a very dangerous flaw. I am reporting this because I have exhausted all of my resources. The only way I have found to reset the traction control, is to pull over, turn the car off, and wait for 3-5 minutes. This will reset the traction control but it does not turn off the check engine light.

Service stabilitrack/ traction control off display on dashboard while car is in motion. Car will jerk while accelerating and cruise control doesn't work. It will reset and work properly after turning car off for 1-3 min and restarting. It happens periodically on several occasions at various times and on trips of various lengths. There seems to be no pattern or precursor for the malfunction.

The stability/traction control light comes on and the engine power reduces. When I took to the mechanic nothing shows on the computer as wrong or has been wrong. While this is happening the cruise control wont work and I had to push really hard on gas pedal. This has happened 3 times so far.
Enterprise rented me the chevy Traverse. I experienced the problem when I was backing out of a parking area off a dirt road. I'd been waiting for the car behind me to back out so that I could back out. The car was stationary, weather sunny and warm, middle of the day. I turned on the ignition, had my foot on the brake, put it into reverse and next thing I knew I was hurtling backwards. It felt like being sucked backward and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I smashed into the car behind me and it was terrifying both for me and, I'm sure, for the guy behind me who suddenly had this SUV crashing into the front of his car. He thought his car was totaled. The insurance companies are handling it, but I told both my insurance company and enterprise that I thought the Traverse had surged. I did eventually drive the vehicle back home (avoiding reverse as much as possible), and noticed when the car was in cruise control mode that same surge-feeling in drive when going up a hill--like it was going way too fast. Later, I saw online a complaint of a similar thing (reverse surge) happening with a 2009 Traverse. I don't think this car should be on the road, and the people handling the claim for enterprise say that it's not (which is good), but they just warned me that if their inspection doesn't show a problem with the vehicle, I could be liable for expenses since it has been pulled from their fleet. At this point, I've been waiting close to a month for this inspection, at which I was told I could be present, to be scheduled. Notes: I don't know exactly what the problem was so I checked each box that seemed likely. Also, only the other vehicle was towed.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving 65 mph with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle began to increase to 110 mph without the accelerator pedal being depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. In order to decrease speed, the contact shifted the gear into neutral. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

Was driving on interstate at 75 mph, about 80 miles from my destination, with cruise control on. Switched the bright lights on and the cruise control turned off, power locks started locking and unlocking repeatedly, headlights started flashing on and off. The whole dashboard instrument lights turned on (check engine, change oil, abs, battery light, stabilitrak etc) when I attempted to press gas accelerator it was locked in place and would not move, vehicle stalled in interstate traffic with my children and I in car. Was able to merge onto shoulder, placed vehicle in park turned ignition to off position then restarted vehicle. Was able drive rest off way without turning on bright headlights or cruise control. When I got off interstate onto highway with no other vehicles I placed cruise control on and flipped on bright headlights and the vehicle did the same thing (gas pedal, headlights, instrument panel and locks) again pulled over restarted car and continued driving with no issue ( no cruise or brights used) I then took car to dealership next morning. The dealership was unable to replicate said occurrence after 6 days in shop. Vehicle was sent home with us with no solution. We have had vehicle not quite 2 months. Do not feel safe having my family in it. Complaint made to manufacturer (Chevrolet gm) they stated they had received no similar complaints and are unable to provide a fix. Was told if vehicle repeats occurrence to try to video it and return to shop. Unhappy with this situation all the way around.
Was driving at 65 mph with cruise control on when we heard ding ding ding . . . . Service stabilitrac service traction control. . Traction control off. . . . When this happened the cruise control no longer would work. . . . . This keeps happining ever so often. . . My car barely has over 50,000 miles on it. . . And naturally the warranty has expired /or it dosen't cover it. . . . This could be a real saftey hazard if there is a semi truck behind me when it shuts down. . At 50,000 miles a car that u pay 27,000$ for should not be having these kind of issues. . Not to mention all the other recalls we have had this year on this car.

I was traveling 60mph on an expressway with the cruise control on. I stepped on the accelerator to pass a car and the accelerator pedal went to the floor causing the vehicle to accelerate suddenly. I tried to lift the pedal with my foot and use the brakes but neither worked to slow it down. I estimate the car got up to 75mph before I put the transmission in neutral and was able to go off the road safely. We taken the Traverse to the dealership where we purchased it complaining of sudden acceleration while the cruise control was on. The dealership said the vehicle was ok.
2012 Chevrolet Traverse. Consumer writes in regards to speedometer and gps the consumer stated he set the cruise control for less than 75 mph and his garmin gps nuvi confirmed the same speed. However, he was cited for speeding. The sheriff stated his radar was much more accurate than his speedometer and gps.
