Received "shift to park message" after car was placed in park mode; was unable to turn the car off. Had to restart and take the gear in and out of park multiple times before I was able to turn the car off. The sensors did not recognize that the car was in park. Took the car to the chevy dealership. They discovered an internal fault that caused the vehicle to not recognize that it was in park. Chevy replaced the gearshift assembly and jumper harness. The "shift to park" error message is no longer present (for now). I'm concerned this may happen again; my cost to repair was $651. 24. This repair should be covered under a vehicle recall as it is an ongoing issue with some Chevrolet vehicles, along with the persistent squeaky brakes. This shift to park issue is not covered if the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. It may, however, be covered if you have an extended warranty. There are multiple vehicles reported with this issue as seen in the online forums. Some models were previously recalled or repair cost was covered by chevy.

Rattling noise when starting vehicle started occurring a year ago. Dealership diagnosed a broken bracket weld that holds the exhaust pipes in place. Dealership cut off bracket. A year later there is a hole in one of the exhaust pipes because of the broken bracket and a check engine light comes on. There is a recall for the 2018-2023 Traverse models except the 2020 year for the exact same issue. Why is every other covered but not the 2020? why do I have to pay for a known gm issue that causes a hole in the exhaust pipes from their crappy bracket welds? this is an emissions issue yet we are being denied by our dealership.

- brake assist system failure -electronic stability control alert - brake pedal goes to the floor and car doesn't stop -potential master cylinder malfunction due to faulty part. (see photo below). Safety of self and others put at risk as car became uncontrollable due to complete loss of braking power while driving. Dealership has not notified yet due to long waiting of other vehicles undergoing maintenance (in my case 2 days at time of this report) part hasn’t been inspected yet. Issue seems in line with similar incident referring to other 2025 and 2024 Traverse molels. Warning signs and alerts appeared only at time of incident (see photo below).
I own two 2020 Chevrolete Traverse. I am currently dealing with my second one that has an exhaust leak at the forward joining exhaust bracket. This is a poor design for a hanging exhaust and is a known issue for the 2019 and 2021 models, but not the 2020. These other years have a special coverage to repair the forward exhaust but not the 2020 Traverse because there have not been enough reports on it. I already paid out of pocket to repair my other 2020 Traverse with this known problem and I refuse to do it again because of a design flaw. This needs to be addressed by Chevrolete immediately.
When parking and shutting off vehicle I get a notification on my dash "shift to park" along with dinging noise.
I’ve had this vehicle for about a year or less the car ran fine with minor problems that come with having a vehicle. Up until last week the car never showed any signs of a failing transmission, it went from running fine to shuttering and suddenly I wasn’t able to reverse. The check engine light never came on, I’ve did all my routine checks and more with the dealership I bought it from and was never told anything when the vehicle was brought in for inspections.

Exhaust and catalytic converters keep breaking off causing loud noise and check engine light to stay on.
Frequent symptom is an "action required: shift to park" message on the dashboard. Which is preventing my vehicle from shutting down properly, and causing the battery to drain, and hinder my car's ability to start in addition to getting trapped in the vehicle because the vehicles fail to shift to the ‘park’ position preventing me from being able to exit the vehicle. This is a known issue affecting various gm models which one being my 2018 Traverse by gm but not willing to make official recall of the issue. There is a class action settlement due to this issue that was not privileged to me as an owner of a used vehicle included in this notice and have.
The vehicle shows 'shift to park' when the vehicle is parked. Error has been occurring since June and the dealership will not warranty the sensor repair and replacement. Burns Chevrolet dealership quoted me $600 to replace it. Dealership acknowledged that it is a known issue and has affected many models, especially the Traverse. There is a technical service bulletin for the issue and should be a recall.
Exhaust raddling.
Catalyst converter bracket on the front of my exhaust is broken causing loud noise and the check engine light to remain on. This should be in connection with specialized coverage program n212356540.
The roof-mounted antenna (shark fin style) detached from my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse (approx mileage:7,500) during normal use. This should not occur on a new vehicle, and I have seen multiple other owners of the same model year reporting the same issue. If the antenna were to detach while driving, it could create a safety hazard to other vehicles on the road. My vehicle is scheduled for dealer inspection, but I believe this should be documented as a potential defect.
I purchased a 2025 chevy Traverse in April 2025. The car had under 1056 miles on it. I was in another state 325 miles away from home when lights came on in the car. The park brake came on, the abs light came on and a few others. The alert said, service esc, and service brake assist. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? we did research online and there were 33 other complaints from people with similar complaints. They reported that it was a master cylinder part and the dealers don’t have the part in stock. It could take up to two weeks for the part. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety and my husband’s safety were at risk because we had to drive the car home. Our lives were at risk if the brakes failed. We took it to key motors a chevy dealership in s. Burlington, vt. He said they would have to diagnose it themselves and the part could take two weeks or more. We cut our vacation short and could not stay in vt that long. We are elderly and did not have enough medicine, not to mention the cost of hotels. The vt dealer said without the computer, the car defaults to the driver like a 1980’s car. We took our chances and drove it home. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no, but many people online have complained of the same problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? we had it towed to our local dealership, bob johnson Chevrolet. They just sent us a bill for $214 for certified multi point vehicle inspection. I still don’t know what problem. Onstar diagnosed it as abs braking and stability diagnostic code; an issue has been detected in the antilock braking system. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no other warnings or symptoms before messages appeared.
Vehicle: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse high country mileage at failure: ~68,897 miles problem: rear auxiliary evaporator leaked refrigerant, causing the a/c to blow warm and fail. Safety concerns: loss of cooling performance in high summer temperatures ? potential heat stress risk for passengers, especially children and medically vulnerable occupants. Refrigerant leaking inside the vehicle ? potential inhalation exposure for occupants. Diagnosis: dealer confirmed refrigerant leak from rear evaporator; repair cost $1,763. 05. Gm awareness: gm has published TSB 16-na-046 and pit5335a describing this exact failure mode (evaporator corrosion from blower motor copper dust), but has not issued a recall or extended coverage.

While making a left turn in a residential area, I slightly accelerated and noticed the rpm's shot up significantly. The vehicle did not shift as expected and felt like it was stuck in higher gear or slipping. Even after I let off the gas, the rpm's remained high longer than normal. This created a moment where the vehicle did not respond predictably, which could have put myself and others at risk if traffic had been heavier. The vehicle has approximately 16,500 miles. There were no warning lights, error messages, or sounds at the time. I did request for the issue to be recorded in my service record. The component suspected to be at fault is transmission or the transmission control system. This is concerning given the low mileage and recent model year.

Shift to park issue the car is in park but when I shut the car off it is telling me shift to part on my dash not allowing me to shut my car off all the way at first I was able to just tap the shifter and that worked after a few weeks I had to keep restarting my car and try to get the shift to park to go away and for the car to shut off all the way. I finally was able to get it into the dealership where I showed them a photo on my phone what it was doing the said even with the picture they would still have to running a diagnostics on it charging me $160 for along with the repair I feel they know the issue we should not have to pay for diagnostics test.
I have had to repair the muffler and now the catalytic converter. There was a fissure on the muffler and now there’s a fissure on the catalytic converter.
Leaking exhaust noise at start up began around 7/14/25. Noise became louder over the following week. Check engine light came on morning of 7/25. Immediately took it to local gm dealership for inspection. Dealership first said it was a cracked front exhaust pipe but then they also determined that the check engine light was from the catalytic converter. Dealership said both the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter require replacement. Through research, we discovered there are already recalls and special coverage for the same issue on the 2019, 2021 and 2022 year models of this vehicle.
When I put my car in park, then turn off my car, it says I need to shift to park.
I had the alternator replaced in 4/2023 and already have to have it repaired again in 7/2025. Hole in exhaust pipe as well. Chevy Traverse 2019 VIN - [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
This vehicle had 19500miles on it when we picked it up at the airport rental agency. It was 2wd model. We used it for 2200 miles on a family vacation and 95% of this was interstate highways. Smooth road surfaces. The travel conditions were sunny hot, dry. There were 6 passengers and a decent amount of luggage. Rear cargo area still had foot or more of space though so it was not stuffed like for a beach trip. At one point after getting on the highway from on ramp, there was a horrible sound. It got louder and louder quickly and caused us to panic. My husband looked in all the mirrors. He said it sounded like a peterbilt semi was barreling down on our ass. But there was none in the mirrors. He quickly let off the gas pedal during this and the sound went away. As we sped up again though, it did the same thing and this time even louder. Starting around 72mph. Something was resonating in the body or powertrain of the car and it seemed like it was about to come apart! we did a check quickly, all of the windows were completely up, the ac was on. The radio was off. He slowed back down, the sound went away. But for 3rd time of trying to reach 75mph, the whomping sound came back and was so intense, it was debilitating and he almost could not hear me talking. We didn't know what to do. He braked immediately to pull off to the side. On a busy highway. After we stopped he got out to look at the tires but we did not a have tire pressure gage. They seemed perfectly normal. He looked under car, in wheel wells, opened the hood with the engine running, shook the car from side to side. Nothing was found loose or hanging down. After this, we could hear the same type of sound at 54mph, 60mph, and between 72-77mph , it all came down to what rpm and gear the transmission was in. This seems like a total design flaw in the chassis or power train. We told the rental agency that no one should be using or buying this car until the issue was fixed.
Engine light- shifting rough, steering wheel shakes. I took it in to get checked, they replaced something for the emissions. Then told I need a twerk converter. Another place didn’t recommend that & I was told needs a new transmission. I have only had my vehicle 4 years and have kept it well maintenanced.
When park it keeps saying put car on park.
My Traverse prompted me to do an update - I did- and all my cameras stopped working- took to dealership - they tried to do a manuel update and locked up the whole system- and the usb’s stopped working - 4 weeks later waiting on new system and no answer in site for when parts will be in - contacted gm and they escalated issue - told to be patient - just made my 3rd payment - I want a new car not a Traverse - want them to buy back their lemon - after reading all the issues shame on gm for ignoring all these complaints.
My alternator died 4 weeks ago. My mechanic can't find one anywhere. He was told gm does not make them for this model yet. I only have 50,000 mi and bought this vehicle brand new. I'm extremely disappointed! my three young kids and I ended up on the side of the road which was more than a little scary.

Had recall done (n222385510 ) exhaust leaking from rotting away pipe, repaired with new pipe, but pipe on other side was also leaking exhaust would not fix because it wasn't part of the original recall, they should be held accountable, for the complete exhaust system, junk metal all the way to the back.
There is a shutter at a low speed. Upon research, this is a common problem with the torque converter.
Traction control light comes on and then my vehicle keeps jerking as I drive and a stabilizer track notification light comes on.

When I took my car out my garage one afternoon, I heard a loud noise that my car was making from the outside of the vehicle. The sound was super loud and made my vehicle sound like a race car reving up, every time I pressed on the gas and then when I pressed on the brakes, it made a screeching/ rattling noise. Come to find out when looking underneath the exhaust pipe underneath the car is hanging off, looks like the mounting bracket separated. Then there was a big visible hole as well. I decide to take it to a mechanic shop and fix this myself and yet the dealership also says there is no recall for that issue. Another additional issue was I was having on this same vehicle was a weird smell coming from my a/c vents when I first turned on the vehicle to which it then dissipates . Informed the dealership and they said again, they don’t know why the car is smelling like humidity. They said they would call me back so they can take the car in, and this was over a month ago, never heard back either.
Onstar telematics module failure. Zero connectivity with onstar in the event of theft or crash. Also causing loss of navigation, wifi, and supercruise. Cannot connect to gm app for vehicle updates or to start engine, or lock/unlock doors. Dealer syates the part is on back order with no eta.
The vehicles fails to recognize it’s in park and does not shut off. Shift to park indicator turns on. Frequently have to park on incline and worried the vehicle will roll. The vehicle will not completely turn off and this has caused the steering to lock. When the vehicle finally turned off, then turned it back on we couldn’t get the steering wheel to unlock. Had to drive it with what felt like no power steering for a period of time. Shift to park indicator blinks and warning light appears that says no remote is detected, yet the remote is in the vehicle. Been in a situation where had to quickly get in to a dr but the vehicle wouldn’t turn off so had to leave the vehicle running. At that point anything could happen, but had to take care of a sick child.
I had 1 air conditioner stop blowing cool air and it was covered on the warranty. In 2023, my ac stopped working again and had to be replaced again. Recently, my ac went out again. All three times it stops blowing cool air. I only have $70k miles on it.
Exhaust system developed a hole due to poor weld, bulletin # pip5681a. Updated 10-5-20 to include 2020 Traverse. Fumes are getting into the cabin.
Chevy Traverse 2019 second time tried breaking down on the highway. First incident engine light came on. The vehicle slowed down and would shake pushing on the gas pedal. The moment the car arrived at the destination is stop working. Second incident it stop on the highway and would go on drive or reverse. Had to stop the car and turn it back on while on the freeway. The car drove for 1 hour then when the car stop at the stop light it had a hard time driving had to push all the way just to get it drive slow. It had a hard time moving but it tried. The emission warning would come on but then would disappear. The vehicle never received a recall.
