Front manifold has cracked twice, bracket to exhaust system has broken twice. A few times when we put it in park the Traverse will say it's not in park and we have to wiggle the gear shift.

The chevy suffers from the "shift to park" issue due to a faulty park switch in the shifter assembly, which is an electrical issue. Apparently gm does not cover this repair but it is dangerous as the car does not shut off even when engine is off and the gear is in park.

Light is telling me shift to park, this is third time it has happened, first time 2022, second time 2023 or 2024 and now 2025.
After only having the vehicle for one year, we found a big puddle underneath our vehicle. Not knowing what this liquid was and just thinking that it was the air conditioning. We continue to drive it while driving at one afternoon. The car told me to stop immediately as my engine had overheat overheated. We are now stuck in a rental until further notice due to the upper radiator hose needing replaced. It concerns me that a vehicle so new is out of order for so long that if it were to have any more issues, I would out of a vehicle again.

I was leaking coolant and took to the dealer. They say it's my upper radiator hose and it needs replaced but it's on a nationwide back order. I was at 42000 miles and was not covered under warranty. I'm reading that a ton of people having the exact same issue and nobody knows why are recall hasn't been issued on this. This can't be good for the environment having a bunch of Traverse vehicles leaking coolant all over the country. Also a safety issue as your car can over heat!.
In the first 51,000 on my vehicle I have had 3 issues with the emissions system which has a negative impact on the environment and would prevent my vehicle from passing state inspection. Gm covered the first 2 under warranty, but I now have a leak in my muffler which seems that it could be related to other issues involving brackets on the exhaust pipes breaking. This is widely reported by other Traverse owners yet gm has not extended the warranty to cover this.

Front exhaust pipe is seperating.
The problem I have it the cover that is on the roof of my car that I am assuming of for the antenna has fallen off.
Shift to park notice. For several months the shifter has had issues going into park. The shifter is in the park position but isnt reading. I know a few other people with similar Traverse models in my area having the same issue. Im also aware that some models of gm SUV have already recalled this part. After having to wait over 5 minutes multiple times for the car to recognize that its in the park position I decided to get this replaced. This is an issue I believe a recall should be noticed and I should be reimbursed for the parts and labor of this.

Transmission went out does not move at all with only 49,000 miles on the car the car always had sifting problems. Brought the car brand new off the lot. One owner. Before the transmission went out when I will stop at the red lights or stop signs the car would just take off for no reason. With my foot still on the brakes or the car would just stall when I am driving it right in the middle of traffic. GMC needs to held accountable before some one gets killed. ??????.
Due to exhaust bracket failure where converter with muffler and side down pipe needs replaced. This was diagnosed at the chevy dealer and appointment for repair is made. The exhaust suddenly became very loud so I took it to the dealership. There were no messages or warning lamps.
Continue to get a shift to park error when car is in park, not allowing me to turn off and creating an unsafe situation.
Shift to park error, car will not go into park. A well known gm issue that apparently has yet to be recalled.
For the past 2 months every time I reach 40 mph service stabilitrak comes on and the car starts pulling to the left and having trouble accelerating. I have took it to 3 mechanics and they can't find the problem at all.

The front passenger door does not open from the interior causing passenger to be trapped within. The only way to open passenger door is from the exterior. I took Traverse to gm dealership on September 30, 2025. Gm dealership removed door panel, and stated the front door lock cable was not attached to door handle assembly. Traverse was repaired on October 1, 2025. The charge was $199. 99 plus tax. I purchased this car used in July 2024.
Leaking exhaust noise at start up began around 9/22/25. Noise became louder over the following week. Check engine light came on morning of 9/24/25. Immediately took it to local gm dealership for inspection. Dealership first said it was a cracked front exhaust pipe at the bracket and then they called back and said rear pipe at the bracket was broken also the whole system needed to be replaced because the brackets were not separate but welded directly to the pipe. The estimate was over $1300. Dealership then said the error coded was probably because of the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter and that they require replacement. I discovered there are already recalls and special coverage for the same issue on the 2019, 2021 and 2022 year models of this vehicle. I contacted gm and they acknowledged the problem in other model years before and after but said there isn't enough complaints for this model year. This is a known problem and design flaw. This needs to be addressed by gm immediately. None of the welds have held on any parts of the exhaust system or the catalytic converter.
Received "shift to park message" after car was placed in park mode; was unable to turn the car off. Had to restart and take the gear in and out of park multiple times before I was able to turn the car off. The sensors did not recognize that the car was in park. Took the car to the chevy dealership. They discovered an internal fault that caused the vehicle to not recognize that it was in park. Chevy replaced the gearshift assembly and jumper harness. The "shift to park" error message is no longer present (for now). I'm concerned this may happen again; my cost to repair was $651. 24. This repair should be covered under a vehicle recall as it is an ongoing issue with some Chevrolet vehicles, along with the persistent squeaky brakes. This shift to park issue is not covered if the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. It may, however, be covered if you have an extended warranty. There are multiple vehicles reported with this issue as seen in the online forums. Some models were previously recalled or repair cost was covered by chevy.
Rattling noise when starting vehicle started occurring a year ago. Dealership diagnosed a broken bracket weld that holds the exhaust pipes in place. Dealership cut off bracket. A year later there is a hole in one of the exhaust pipes because of the broken bracket and a check engine light comes on. There is a recall for the 2018-2023 Traverse models except the 2020 year for the exact same issue. Why is every other covered but not the 2020? why do I have to pay for a known gm issue that causes a hole in the exhaust pipes from their crappy bracket welds? this is an emissions issue yet we are being denied by our dealership.
At around 22,000 miles my vehicle went into reduced power mode with no indication of why. This happened while I was going up a steep hill and the reduction of power slowed my vehicle dramatically, and I was nearly rear ended. The vehicle had no check engine light on until the next morning. I got the check engine light read at autozone and they indicated that it was for a coolant pump. When I checked the coolant reservoir, it was empty. I added gm approved coolant and the check engine light turned off, but I had already set up for the vehicle to be serviced at earnhardt GMC, so I still took it in on 9/19/25. They had my vehicle there for 5 days and said it was a valve that was causing a leak, and they had replaced it. On 10/12/25, my vehicle went into reduced power mode on the freeway again. I still had no check engine light. I had to wait until the morning to take it into the dealership again. In the morning the check engine light came on again, so the dealership was able to read it and it was the same code as before. This time they only needed the vehicle over night, and said the coolant leak was from a bad water pump. On October 27th, my vehicle once again went into reduced power mode on the freeway, and again no check engine light. The next morning the check engine light was present and I again took my vehicle to earnhardt GMC to have it diagnosed. Once again it had the same code. The next day I received a text message from my service advisor, that the issue was from the radiator hose and that they will be ordering it. So at this point I am in a rental car that was covered by my warranty. I asked if they had any updates 2 days later, and was told they didn't. On 11/3/25, while looking at a facebook group for 2024 Traverse owners, I saw a number of people with the same issue I was having and getting month long etas for repair. It was later confirmed that my part will not be available until between 12/16/25-12/30/25. My vehicle is currently still at the dealership.
- brake assist system failure -electronic stability control alert - brake pedal goes to the floor and car doesn't stop -potential master cylinder malfunction due to faulty part. (see photo below). Safety of self and others put at risk as car became uncontrollable due to complete loss of braking power while driving. Dealership has not notified yet due to long waiting of other vehicles undergoing maintenance (in my case 2 days at time of this report) part hasn’t been inspected yet. Issue seems in line with similar incident referring to other 2025 and 2024 Traverse molels. Warning signs and alerts appeared only at time of incident (see photo below).

I own two 2020 Chevrolete Traverse. I am currently dealing with my second one that has an exhaust leak at the forward joining exhaust bracket. This is a poor design for a hanging exhaust and is a known issue for the 2019 and 2021 models, but not the 2020. These other years have a special coverage to repair the forward exhaust but not the 2020 Traverse because there have not been enough reports on it. I already paid out of pocket to repair my other 2020 Traverse with this known problem and I refuse to do it again because of a design flaw. This needs to be addressed by Chevrolete immediately.
Shift to park message comes on 50% of the time when shutting down the engine, tapping the shift lever forward sometimes removes the message, other times restarting the engine and shifting to drive and back to park several times will remove the message.
When parking and shutting off vehicle I get a notification on my dash "shift to park" along with dinging noise.
I’ve had this vehicle for about a year or less the car ran fine with minor problems that come with having a vehicle. Up until last week the car never showed any signs of a failing transmission, it went from running fine to shuttering and suddenly I wasn’t able to reverse. The check engine light never came on, I’ve did all my routine checks and more with the dealership I bought it from and was never told anything when the vehicle was brought in for inspections.
Exhaust and catalytic converters keep breaking off causing loud noise and check engine light to stay on.
Frequent symptom is an "action required: shift to park" message on the dashboard. Which is preventing my vehicle from shutting down properly, and causing the battery to drain, and hinder my car's ability to start in addition to getting trapped in the vehicle because the vehicles fail to shift to the ‘park’ position preventing me from being able to exit the vehicle. This is a known issue affecting various gm models which one being my 2018 Traverse by gm but not willing to make official recall of the issue. There is a class action settlement due to this issue that was not privileged to me as an owner of a used vehicle included in this notice and have.
The vehicle shows 'shift to park' when the vehicle is parked. Error has been occurring since June and the dealership will not warranty the sensor repair and replacement. Burns Chevrolet dealership quoted me $600 to replace it. Dealership acknowledged that it is a known issue and has affected many models, especially the Traverse. There is a technical service bulletin for the issue and should be a recall.
Exhaust raddling.
Catalyst converter bracket on the front of my exhaust is broken causing loud noise and the check engine light to remain on. This should be in connection with specialized coverage program n212356540.
The roof-mounted antenna (shark fin style) detached from my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse (approx mileage:7,500) during normal use. This should not occur on a new vehicle, and I have seen multiple other owners of the same model year reporting the same issue. If the antenna were to detach while driving, it could create a safety hazard to other vehicles on the road. My vehicle is scheduled for dealer inspection, but I believe this should be documented as a potential defect.
I purchased a 2025 chevy Traverse in April 2025. The car had under 1056 miles on it. I was in another state 325 miles away from home when lights came on in the car. The park brake came on, the abs light came on and a few others. The alert said, service esc, and service brake assist. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? we did research online and there were 33 other complaints from people with similar complaints. They reported that it was a master cylinder part and the dealers don’t have the part in stock. It could take up to two weeks for the part. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety and my husband’s safety were at risk because we had to drive the car home. Our lives were at risk if the brakes failed. We took it to key motors a chevy dealership in s. Burlington, vt. He said they would have to diagnose it themselves and the part could take two weeks or more. We cut our vacation short and could not stay in vt that long. We are elderly and did not have enough medicine, not to mention the cost of hotels. The vt dealer said without the computer, the car defaults to the driver like a 1980’s car. We took our chances and drove it home. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no, but many people online have complained of the same problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? we had it towed to our local dealership, bob johnson Chevrolet. They just sent us a bill for $214 for certified multi point vehicle inspection. I still don’t know what problem. Onstar diagnosed it as abs braking and stability diagnostic code; an issue has been detected in the antilock braking system. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no other warnings or symptoms before messages appeared.
Vehicle: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse high country mileage at failure: ~68,897 miles problem: rear auxiliary evaporator leaked refrigerant, causing the a/c to blow warm and fail. Safety concerns: loss of cooling performance in high summer temperatures ? potential heat stress risk for passengers, especially children and medically vulnerable occupants. Refrigerant leaking inside the vehicle ? potential inhalation exposure for occupants. Diagnosis: dealer confirmed refrigerant leak from rear evaporator; repair cost $1,763. 05. Gm awareness: gm has published TSB 16-na-046 and pit5335a describing this exact failure mode (evaporator corrosion from blower motor copper dust), but has not issued a recall or extended coverage.
While making a left turn in a residential area, I slightly accelerated and noticed the rpm's shot up significantly. The vehicle did not shift as expected and felt like it was stuck in higher gear or slipping. Even after I let off the gas, the rpm's remained high longer than normal. This created a moment where the vehicle did not respond predictably, which could have put myself and others at risk if traffic had been heavier. The vehicle has approximately 16,500 miles. There were no warning lights, error messages, or sounds at the time. I did request for the issue to be recorded in my service record. The component suspected to be at fault is transmission or the transmission control system. This is concerning given the low mileage and recent model year.
When I put my car in park and turn it off I get an error message that I need to "shift to park". It shows in the dash that it is in park but my radio, and lights stay on. I have to restart my car and put it in park, reverse, or neutral and try to put it in park again. I takes several try's to make the error message go away.
